Chapter 7

A/N:

Sorry for the wait! My motivation ditched me xd

Several tests later, and Izuku was starting to get worried. He did manage to get fairly good scores on the 50-meter dash and the distance run (he had a lot of practice running, after all), and slightly above average on the other tests, but he hadn't been able to find any objects or loopholes that he could use to do better.

"Alright. Next up will be the ball throw, which Bakugo already demonstrated. Uraraka, you're up." Aizawa states.

Uraraka nervously makes her way to the circle, fiddling with the ball. She takes a deep breath, then throws it. It begins to float upwards, rising until it disappears into the sky. Aizawa's device beeps, and he shows it to the class. It displays the symbol for 'infinity', eliciting several gasps from the gathered students.

"Fumikage Tokoyami."

__

"Izuku Midoriya." Izuku stiffens slightly, moving to take his place in the circle.

"Uraraka?" He calls.

"Yeah?" She answers.

"Could you use your quirk on this for me?" Izuku asks.

Uraraka smiles. "Of course!" She walks to the edge of the circle, lightly brushing all five fingers over the baseball in Izuku's hand before moving back to her earlier position.

Izuku tests the weight of the ball he's holding (there is no weight) before throwing it. It floats away, exactly like Uraraka's did, and infinity shows up on the tracking device once more. Izuku thinks he sees a small smile appear on Aizawa's face for just a moment, but he was probably imagining it.

"That has to be cheating! Sensei, he cheated, right?!" A shrill voice screeches. It belongs to a short boy with... purple balls for hair? Mineta, if Izuku's remembering correctly.

Aizawa glares at the boy, his eyes flashing red for a split second. All the Slugcats echo this glare, and Mineta squeaks when he makes eye contact with Explody.

"The only rule I gave was 'don't leave the circle'. Midoriya followed this rule. Thinking outside of the box isn't cheating. Now, let's look at the final scores."

A holographic screen appears out of seemingly nowhere, displaying all the names of the class 1-A students. Momo Yaoyorozu is in first place, Shouto Todoroki in second, and Katsuki in third.

Said third place student lets out a low growl.

Izuku skims the list of names until he finds his in 19th place, just above Mineta.

Aizawa speaks. "Mineta, you're expelled. Leave."

Mineta stares at him, his expression somewhere between disbelief and horror.

"But-"

"No buts. Leave. Now."

At the end of that eventful day (it wasn't a full day), Izuku finds himself turning the television on, browsing the news channels for interesting hero news when something catches his attention.

"-y the time the heroes arrived, three civilians had already been killed. The origins of this creature are unknown, but the running theory is that it's some sort of large lizard or crocodilian with a mutation quirk. What such a creature was doing in the middle of the city is still a mystery."

The screen shows a slightly blurry image of an extremely large, black lizard(?) with a bright red head and red-tipped spines bristling along the length of its back and tail.

Several of the Slugcats hiss sharply, and Izuku turns to see Explody, Hunter and Vampire puffed up, glaring at the screen.

"Is that... something from where you guys came from?" he asks softly. Black Hole nods slowly.

Izuku is too fixated on the others to notice Vampire growing a spear from their tail. They slowly reach backwards and pull the spear out. The quiet snap is all the warning Izuku gets.

"Wait, don't-!" The spear buries itself in the screen of the TV, sending cracks spiraling across the screen and making a hole straight through the center of it. It immediately shuts down, a few sparks flying from where the spear hit.

Welp, good thing it was a fairly cheap TV.

Five Pebbles was angry. And rightfully so. How come No Significant Harassment made it into the hero course while Pebbles was stuck in gen ed? Well, he could get in through the Sports Festival if he put on enough of a show, but that was still a month away.

Although, maybe meeting Shinsou wasn't the worst thing that could've happened.

His phone chimed. Strange, seeing as he didn't have any contacts saved into it.

Unknown Number:

Hi Pebbs! Just thought I'd check in. Didn't get into the hero course?

                                                                                                                                                                  You:

How the fuck did you get my number, Sig?

Unknown Number:

Magic!

Looks to the Moon left U.A high that first day covered in explosion residue (not soot, not ash, just explosion residue) and a new name burned into her mind.

Mei Hatsume.
