✈ Hunter ✈

It has been five days since that incident with my family. My mum just informed me that she had found a place for me to stay. I'll move there by the end of this week. Tyler and I were lazing around, soaking in the afternoon sun.

"Hunter?"

"Yeah?" I lifted an eyelid to look at Tyler.

"I'm meeting my friends later for dinner. Wanna tag along?"

"Okay, sure." I replied with a nod and stood up.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm meeting Jenna before meeting you for dinner."

I did not wait for Tyler's reply and quickly walked into the house for shade. It was Jenna who called me to arrange this meeting.

I also had the intention of talking things out with Jenna when she proposed this meeting. When I saw her in school she would walk in the other direction. As if we did not make any eye contact.

Well, Jenna was clearly avoiding me. I have no clue what sparked the sudden change in attitude. I went over to her house, planning to ask her about it. However, whenever I did that, her parents claimed that she was not at home. I tried calling her, but she rejected all my calls.

You could imagine my surprise when she called me first and requesting to meet me. I put on a simple t-shirt and a pair of khaki shorts.

"Hey, Tyler. Going out?" Mrs Macbeth was walking back to her room when we bumped into each other.

"Yes, Mrs Macbeth." I said with a small smile.

"Are you coming back for dinner? Or you're having dinner with Tyler and his friends?"

"I'll be having dinner with Tyler and his friends."

"Alright. Get going then." Mrs Macbeth said before she went into her room.

My steps down the stairs were quick and I ran out to the side gate. I was not planning to be late as I brisk walked to our usual place.

Out of the sudden, I felt small drips of rainwater rolling down my cheeks. I lifted my head to face the sky and saw dark clouds were gathering. I directed my gaze to the front and a smile was gracing my features. I just had to take a few more steps to reach my destination. There were shelters to shield me from the rain. I ran the remaining number of steps as the drop of rainwater was getting bigger.

When I reached to safety, I wiped away the rainwater that was on my clothing and skin.

I was finding a seat to wait for Jenna when my eyes landed on someone or rather a couple.

My fists were clenched tightly and my breathing became erratic. My stomach felt sick and my brain was covered with violent scenes. Anger could not cover all that I felt.

My girlfriend's lips were locked with a guy, which obviously was not me. They were making out on a bench, my blood boiled just by looking at that disgusting image.

Why the fish did Jenna asked me out when she clearly did not need my companion.

"Jenna."

That was all I said, before my fist was connected with someone's jaw.

"Oh my God, Hunter!" Jenna's fingers clawed my hands as she wanted me to let go of Ivan's shirt.

"You son of a gun. What the hell were you doing with my girlfriend?!" I nearly spat on Ivan's arrogant smirk.

Ivan pushed me away and gave me a punch in the eye. I staggered backwards after the blow, while covering my sore eyes. Before I could fight back, Ivan's fist hit my chin and I lost any balance that was left in me. I fell to the ground with a loud thud.

The metallic taste of blood was accompanied with a world of stars. I tried to stand up but the dizziness took complete control of my body. I heard yelling and profanities being thrown out as a hard kick to my stomach made me curled up into a ball.

"Ivan that's enough!" Desperation was evident in Jenna's voice.

I did not hear any response from Ivan but I definitely felt his objection. Ivan stepped on my ankle, after that he pulled me up by the collar. I took the opportunity to kick Ivan in his groin. I heard Ivan sucked in a painful breath and whimpered aloud which was music to my ears.

"Oh my God, Hunter! How could you do that?!" Jenna shoved me aside like I was a piece of trash. She knelt down beside Ivan and helped him to stand up.

The heavy rain was pelting down on me as a very sarcastic laughter came out.

"Why couldn't I do that when this scumbag just snatched my girlfriend away?"

"He didn't snatch me away from you, Hunter. Because." Jenna purposely paused and looked at me in the eye.

"I was never your girlfriend anyways. It was just all your fantasy. Honestly, I do pity you. Previously, you're still a rich boy and I even considered being your girlfriend. But, now? It's better if we keep our distance, alright?"

My ears were ringing and I could no longer hear anything that came out of Jenna's mouth. I was beyond shocked as my legs were moving away from Jenna and Ivan. I walked around aimlessly in the rain as flashbacks were shown right in front of me.

I was grateful for the rain because, no one could differentiate between the tears that streamed down my cheeks and rainwater. My memories contradicted Jenna's words, pertaining to what she said about this being my fantasy.

My vision was blurry and my body was feeling sore from what Ivan did. I lifted up my head to let the rain fall on my face to wash away those unwanted tears.

It was when I started to laugh, softly at first but ended up in a roar of laughter. People who passed by me under the protection of their umbrellas gave me a look of concern. They might thought that I have lost my marbles. Maybe I did. Maybe I did not. Who knew?

The last memory I had was falling into someone's arms.

I stomped out of the mall in anger as the talk between Kimberly and I was horrendous.

A gust of cool wind blew when I saw a bright light flashed past the dark sky. It was followed by a loud roar of thunder which made me jumped in shock.

There were several children cried after the loud sound frightened them. I was knocked on the shoulder by someone who was running to the taxi stand for shelter.

"Sorry." The guy who was drenched from head to toe apologised with a sheepish smile.

"It's okay." I reached into my bag for a packet of tissue for him.

I made sure a smile was visible when the packet of tissue was being handed over to the guy.

"Here, take this. I don't think it's enough to dry you up though."

The guy blinked a few times as he registered what I just said.

"Oh, thanks." His lips twitched up into a smile of gratitude.

I shrugged in response and saw a reflection of someone staggering behind me. When I turned to face that person, a cold and extremely wet body suddenly fell into my arms.

"Hey hey. Are you alright?" I nearly lost my balance because that guy was really heavy.

The guy from earlier on wrapped his arm around my waist to stop me from falling.

Wow. Great. I was surrounded by two guys who were drenched.

"Thanks."

Each of us had an arm over our necks as we brought the unconscious guy to a chair. When my eyes landed on the guy's face, I stared at him in disbelief.

This guy was the one who shared the same cab as me. I could not believe my luck. However, his face was covered with bruises and a cracked lip. Without a doubt, he was in a fight with someone. I knelt down to his height, and gently dried his face.

"Um, I've called the ambulance. Do you need me to accompany you to the hospital?"

I looked up and shook my head.

"No it's alright. I can manage this on my own. Besides, I don't want you to catch a cold. Hurry home once this rain has stop."

"Yes, I will."

I waved that guy goodbye after getting on the ambulance.
