✈ Hunter ✈

"Hunter Quinn, mark my words. By hook or crook, find a house yourself and move out by tomorrow." My father said with finality.

"I beg your pardon?" I asked in disbelief, my whole world started spinning again.

"Edward! You didn't mean that! How can you do this to your son?!" My mother was holding back herself from screaming in my father's face. He values his pride more than anything.

"I am not joking. He needs to learn how to be financially independent and what does being responsible means."

"Nonsense! Our family has more than enough for him to spend. He doesn't need to be financially independent!"

"That's the problem, Dana. He spends money like waterfall and caused lots of trouble without feeling a little remorseful."

My mother started to open her mouth to refute my father. However, she was interrupted by the grumpy faced officer.

"Sir, Madam, the police doesn't have the whole day, hearing you both bicker."

Both of my parents shut their mouth and walked out of the station.

"Not so soon kid." The officer held out an arm to stop me from going out.

"Er.. I thought we're done?"

Another officer came and placed a zip lock bag filled with my wallet and mobile phone on the table.

"Check if there's anything missing. If not, sign here."

"Um, okay." I scribbled on the line absent-mindedly and ran out of the station as fast as I could.

I picked up my pace when my father's car was driving away from the station. While running, I knew that I was in deep shit. It would not be easy to appease my father and get out of this trouble.

"Hey! Mum! Dad!" I yelled breathlessly, knowing the fact that they could not hear me.

But, the car sped on faster and faster. Until I did not have the energy to continue with the chase. I panted heavily after running out from the station, to..

My phone chirped which made me jumped a little. My mum texted me saying that I have to find my way back, because my dad's still very mad at me.

Well, no shit Sherlock.

Sticking my hands into the pockets and pulled out nothing from it. Not even a single penny.

Great. That's just awesome.

I quickly scroll through my contact list for Logan's number and hit the call button.

I leant against the wall as the ringing tone continue until Logan finally answered.

"Logan! Are you still at the station? Mind giving me a lift home?"

"I'm sorry, Quinn. My parents are grounding me for a month. I just got back home too. Your parents left without you?"

"Yeah. Wait grounding you? You're twenty my friend, why are you still abiding to their rules?"

"If I did, I would not be thrown into the police station." Logan sighed loudly, like he did not have any other choices.

"Alright, anyway thanks buddy."

Vincent would not be of any help because his parents are way stricter. He might be staring at the wall thinking how miserable his life is.

I had no other options but to flag for a cab. My mum would help me pay the fare when I reach home.

This time of the day cabs should be easy to find.

* Fifteen minutes later *

Easy?

Forget it. I take back my words.

There was not a single empty cab I could get on. Why would I even think that it's easy, when practically everyone are rushing to school/work.

Here I am, hungry, tired, suffering the side effects of hung over trying to flag down a God damn cab.

If this was in the movies, there would be a dramatic background music. Hinting that, the long awaited empty cab has arrived.

But, sadly this wasn't a movie. I waved my arms excitedly and successfully got the attention of the driver.

I let out a breath of relief when the cab stopped in front of me. When I was halfway getting into the car, someone pushed me in violently.

"Star Vale College please!" A girl in her early twenties squeezed into the cab with me.

"Wait! I don't know who she is. But I do know that I'm not going to Star Vale College!"

Did she just mentioned Star Vale College? Oh. We are in the same school. Out of curiosity, I studied the side view of this young lady. Have I seen her in school before?

"What are you looking at perv?!" The girl suddenly glared at me.

"Perv?" I laughed aloud as it was hilarious for her to think of me as a pervert. Why would I look like one anyways?

"Mister, you can start driving. Please, I'm going to be late for class."

I immediately stopped laughing.

"No no no. I was the one who came in here first. Young lady, please step out of the car." I pointed to the door and saw her jaw shifted.

"Where are you heading to?" She asked while folding her arms.

"Magnolia Estate."

"Ah! It's on the way to Star Vale College. We can share this ride. Mister, sorry for keeping you waiting." The girl told the driver happily and leant back to relax.

"Who says we're sharing?"

The girl looked like she wanted to argue with me when the driver shouted.

"Hey! Get out of the car if you can't decide where to go! I could have earned more money while the both of you are aruging!"

The girl and I stared at him in shock.

"Um.. S-sorry mister, but I am really late for class now. You know that we're heading the same direction, please just drive." The girl stuttered and bit the bottom of her lips.

Oh shit. She's going to cry.

As soon as I thought she would cry, she sat up straight and had a look of determination.
"Fair enough." The driver murmured and started driving.

Since there was nothing I could do, I closed my eyes to rest. The car ride was awkward and quiet but that was what I wanted anyways. No one to disturb my resting time.

"Mister, you can collect the rest of the fare from him." The girl's voice woke me up and dashed out of the car before I could say anything.

I saw her run into the school and disappeared around the corner.

There was something shiny on the car's carpet that caught my attention. I bent over to pick it up when the cab stop for a red light.

It was a silver slip on bracelet, with little heart shapes dangling around it. The bracelet twinkled under the bright morning sun as it hung freely on my fingertips.

"Hey, is this here before we came in?" I tapped on the driver's shoulder.

The cab driver glanced at it for a second before shaking his head.

It must be from the girl.

I contemplated whether to keep it and find a way to return it back or leave it on the cab.

"If I were you, I'll keep it for the time being. The possibility of you bumping into her is higher than me." The driver suddenly spoke out and even smiled at me.

Oh hell. He's probably right, we are from the same school anyways.

I slipped it into the pocket of my jacket and return back to sleep.
.....................

"Hey young man. Rise and sun. Deducting from the young lady's money, your fare will be eighteen dollars."

Before I could answer, my mum knocked on the driver's window.

"Is this enough?" She handed over a fifty dollar note.

"More than enough, Madam." The driver replied while digging out the correct change from a box.

I get out of the cab as it reversed back to make a U-turn.

The tall metal wrought iron gates noiselessly closed behind us as we walked up the grassy slope.

"Hunter, stay at your friend's house until I find a place for you. Alright? I've also called the school for you." My mum whispered as she tightened her grip on my arm.

"Dad can't be serious with throwing me out of the house!" I whispered back, hating the fear in my tone.

"Your dad means business. I've tried my hardest to plead for a lighter punishment. Even Carter cannot convince him."

"I don't need Carter's help!"

"Hunter, stop pushing away your brother's help. He means well too." My mum defended Carter even though she knows I did not like it.

The both of us felt a gush of wind blew when the huge front door opened. My father stood in front of us with a travelling bag in hand.

"Hey dad. You're going on a business trip?" My question made everyone except my dad held onto their breath.

Carter appeared behind our father with a grave look on his face.

Without warning, my father threw the bag right in my face.

"Get out!" My father hollered and pulled my mum into the house then shut the door.
