"Where do I have to hang this?" Tyler was catching his breath while he leant against the doorframe.
"Um, above the TV console." I said after placing my personal belongings on the floor. My mum managed to pack these for me without my dad knowing.
Tyler gestured an okay sign and bent over to carry my art piece over to the TV console. He hooked the frame and took a step back to check if he have hung it correctly. Tyler snapped his fingers as he was happy with the look of my art piece on the empty wall.
"Hey, are you okay with this?" Tyler's voice travelled from the living room into my bedroom.
I stopped unpacking my luggage and went out to see what have Tyler done. A thumbs up was presented for Tyler which earned me a smirk.
"I've got to go now. Is it okay for you to do all these by yourself?" Tyler asked as grabbed his car keys from the table.
"Yeah, I'll be fine." I went into the kitchen to pour Tyler a cup of iced water.
"Thanks."
Tyler took over the cup gratefully and gulped in down. It was a scorching hot day, Tyler offered to be my assistant for the day. He followed me around the city to purchase the items that I needed.
I walked Tyler out and closed the door with a soft sigh. Turning around to look at my new home, I could not help but feel sad. The problem with my dad have not improved one bit. I walked over to the side table and picked up the family photo.
My forefinger traced each and every faces on that photo. Ironically, I had to thank my dad for throwing me out of the house. Well, the reason was, one by one those fake friends that I used to have, left me.
At first, I was beyond shocked that those buddies whom I thought had my back ditched me without blinking an eye. Tyler was one of the few who stuck with me despite the circumstances.
Jenna and I did not spoke to each other since the incident. Her new boyfriend always seemed to brag at me about snatching away my ex girlfriend. Ivan's attitude was unnerving however, I chose not to stoop to his level.
After unpacking the very few items that I have with me, I grabbed a cold drink from the refrigerator and plopped myself comfortably on the couch. I was staring at the ceiling and suddenly had the idea of watching a movie, alone
I jumped out of my seat and went out of the house before second guessing my decision.
..........
I stood in front of a screen that shows what movies are screening today. My fingers rubbed my chin as I was in deep thoughts.
"Oh man. Why does this have to happen to me?" I heard someone spoke out loud behind me. Out of curiosity, I turned around and found a familiar girl staring back at me.
Amber sucked in a breath as she visibly stiffened, her eyes widened.
"Hunter?" Amber asked as if she could not believe that it was me.
"Well, hi there." I gave her an awkward wave but a smile found its way to my lips.
Amber cleared her throat before continuing.
"You're here, alone?"
"Yeah. You too?" An eyebrow was arched as I questioned Amber.
"I was suppose to meet my friend, Isabella. But she just told me she couldn't make it." Amber replied with an audible sigh.
"Have you bought the tickets?"
"Um, yes. Why?" Amber was giving me a suspicious look which cracked me up.
"C'mon let's go." I went to slung my arms over her shoulders and shot her a cheeky wink.
"I don't think you'll like this movie." That was what Amber last said before I pulled her towards the movie theatre.
............
Ten minutes into the movie, I totally agreed with what Amber had said earlier on. I started to fidget around my seat as the movie was playing right in front of my eyes.
I was never a fan of romantic movies. The main reason because it was boring. To the girls, it would be a fantasy for them to dream about their perfect guy. To the guys, it would just be plain torture. We have to keep up with the high standards set by the guy in the movie. I should have asked about which movie genre we were about to watch.
"Hey, are you uncomfortable with this movie?" Amber nudged me in the elbow as she whispered.
"Yeah. But, it's okay. I can stay with you to continue watch this movie." I found a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips.
What Amber did next was not what I had expected. She suddenly stood up and signalled me to do so too. I blinked my eyes for several times before I followed what Amber did.
"Hey get out of here if you don't want to watch this movie. Stop blocking our view." A woman's voice boomed through the theatre. It was too dark to pin point where did the voice came from.
"Yeah. Spare a thought for others too." The guy directly behind us muttered as though we could not hear his words loud and clear.
Amber hurriedly pushed me aside as she scurried out quietly.
"Amber?" I called out for her after exiting the theatre.
"So.. I guess this is where we say goodbye?" Amber was leaning against the wall when I looked at her.
I contemplated what I should reply Amber for a moment.
"Are you in a hurry?" I finally spoke out and found Amber staring at the ceiling. She snapped out of her daze with clueless eyes looking right into mine.
"I'm sorry, did you ask something?"
"Yeah, I was asking if you are in a hurry?"
"Well, no. My parents knew that I wouldn't be back until after dinner time."
"That's great. C'mon let's go." I slung my arm over Amber's shoulders for the second time today as she gave me a bewildered look.
Before Amber could say anything, I fired my question to her first.
"Why did you leave earlier on?"
"I suppose you weren't going to enjoy the movie. I didn't want to waste your time.."
A full blown grin was gracing my features after hearing Amber's explanation.
"Where are we going?" Amber tried to shake off my arm as we walked out of the mall.
A deep chuckle escaped my mouth as I did the zipping my lips action.
We were queueing up for the bus with a very curious Amber.
"Why can't you tell me where are we heading to?" She had asked this question for at least a dozen times.
"You might run away after knowing." I answered with a smirk pasted on my face.
Amber's eyebrows shot up when her hands flew to cover her mouth.
"Oh my God. I am already scared after hearing the description." She actually started to walk away from the queue.
Fortunately, with my quick reflexes, I was able to pull Amber back in line before we were both out of the queue.
"What description were you talking about?! I didn't even say anything about that place."
Amber folded her arms as she silently observed me. I was starting to feel a little awkward with the staring when Amber responded to my question.
"You made it sound creepy."
I simply shrugged as I turned Amber around to face the queue when the bus finally arrived. Amber had a knowing smile on her face after I seated myself next to her.
"It's not a secret anymore, isn't it?"
