"I'm not a serial killer BUT SOME PEOPLE PUSH ME TO THE EDGE"

To say Kate was pissed was an understatement, her veins were popping out of her forehead and his cheeks were stained red. Her fist clenched as her nails dug into her flesh with her passion, the girl paced back and forth in her living room, the thoughts and memories of today sent her mentally insane

"Calm down" Jamie mumbled

"DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN" Kate hissed

"Are we sure it's Autumn that has the anger issues?" Ethan asked with a raised brow

"Sorry, I'm sorry. It's just. Ugh her face. I just want to punch it until it turns red, then I'll stomp on it until my footprint is permanently imbedded in her skin!" Kate yelled

"Well goddamn" Jamie's eyes widened

"She just thinks she has the authority to do whatever the hell she wants and talk to people however she feels like. It's wrong and I'm not taking any of her bullshit" Kate said as she crossed her arms

"What happened exactly?" Ethan asked

"She thinks she can just give a smirk and expect me to melt. Ptff, as if" Kate mumbled to herself

"huh?"

"With those intoxicating blue eyes and... Soft lips.. Just. UGH" Kate groaned

"Did.. Did she just?"

"Uh Uh, hunny what?" Jamie chuckled

"What?" Kate questioned

"Girl, you've got it bad" Ethan smiled

"Got what?" Kate questioned

The two teens glanced at each other as if they had a mental conversation in their head. For they knew Kate's hate towards the girl wasn't just because of their arguments. Sure it was the root of the problem but she was slowly simping

But they weren't going to ruin that for her

"Oh nothing, don't worry about it" Jamie grinned

"When are they gonna call?" Ethan asked

"May said that since they really need to start filming, they'll give the actors a callback by tonight. Maybe around 10" Kate mumbled

"10? THAT'S LITERALLY FIVE MINUTES AWAY. WHAT THE"

"and she's here worrying about Autumn Hester, interesting" Jamie smirked

"I am not. Worrying. Over that self centered excuse of a person" Kate stated

"Oh? Then what are you thinking about right now?" Jamie wiggled her brows

"I'm trying to keep myself calm so I can prepare myself for disappoiment" Kate stated

"Oh? Oh really?" Ethan chuckled

In all honesty, Kate's heart was pounding out of her chest. Somewhere deep down she knew she nailed that auditions, there was just something to natural about the way her emotions flowed and connected with the character in just seconds.

Usually actors took a few minutes to warm up and find their center because sometimes it was hard to break out of the characters. As an actor, every character you played seem to leave a stain in your life as you move onto the next, it was your job to break apart from that.

The character Kate would be playing if she did get the part would be Daisy. A shy girl who grew up in the rustic times. Not like war and old towns in the desert, more like a girl growing up on a farm with her bestfriend as her neighbour.

Their life together had always been one of purity and joy. From birth they had been inseparable, nothing but love and connection throughout their childhood. They knew each other inside out, they knew they reason for every wink, every sigh, every glance. They were all just connected. The kind of friendship that you'd find once in a lifetime.

It reminded Kate of her connection with her sister, they had been inseparable since entering each other's life. They did everything together, including baths.

But the difference here is that daisy's character falls in love with her bestfriend

and Kate's sister is dead. Point blank periodt.

"She needs a drink, I'll get her a drink" Ethan said as he hopped the couch, heading in the direction of the kitchen

"You need to relax, just take a deep breath in and remember to keep calm" Jamie mumbled as she approached her best friend

"This is a big deal Jamie. My life could change in a matter of seconds" Kate mumbled

"I knew sweetie, I know" Jamie smiled, her hands rested on the brunette's back as she lightly pushed in the direction of the door and into the backyard

She knew she needed to keep the girl calm, to land the lead role in a big production movie was the dream of millions of actors and Kate's answer was coming in a few seconds. That phone would either ring to say she got the part or she didn't.

Kate didn't want to keep her hopes up, she knew she did a good job, but the fact is.. There was over 300 people that auditioned, people with more experience, talent, spark. So Kate settled herself up for the bad new

For this wouldn't be the first time she had been disappointed

The girls took a seat on the green grass that was barely lit from the dim backyard light.

The moonlight splashed down its watery white-silver glow onto the yard, bathing the two girls, illuminating them. And in the distance the trees were silhouetted against the deep velvety sky.

Kate brought her knees to her chest and tilted her head backwards as she allowed the icy cold breeze to brush against her chin. Her eyes shutted slowly to enjoy the feeling of the cold wind against her skin and the warmth around her knees mix together

The sky was black tranquility married to a poetry of stars. It was the softness that called body and brain to rest and let the heart go to its steady rhythm. Night came as a reward of sorts, a restfulness above to calm the soul. Kate loved the night, the blue skies wasn't enough to keep a hyper soul calm

"Here is your Ethaní" The boy smiled as he approached the two girls with a tray in his hands carrying three glasses filled to the rim

"And Ethaní, really?" Jamie chuckled

"Hey, my crush is a bartender so I'm trying to learn a few things. Now drink and tell me if I did good" He grinned

"Is this Canada dry, Malibu and Cranberry juice?" Kate asked as she leaned the glass to her lips

"Yep, odd combination but it's bomb" He smiled

"I like it"

"Are you drinking whiskey?"

"Not all my tricks need to be revealed Tonight" He chuckled and joined the girls on the grass

A comfortable silence fell between the teens, no words were needed to be said. Just the swishing of ice cubes and the deep exhales of the cold air of the night

"What happens if I actually do make it?" Kate mumbled

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, what will our lives be like? Do I quit my job just to come to practice everyday? Will I even have spare time anymore? Will... Will we be able to talk like this again?" Kate mumbled

"Hey, come here" Jamie smiled

Kate leaned her head against the girl's shoulder with Ethan on her other end. The two threw their arm around the smaller girl's body and held her tightly

"Don't worry about us, this is your future. You've been there for us so much in the past, you've placed yourself below everyone else just to make sure they're happy, now it's time for you to focus on yourself. Do what makes you happy, we'll always be here and we're not going anywhere" Jamie said sternly

"And that's on what?" Ethan asked

"PERIODT" The three said in unison, Kate couldn't contain her giggles as she buried herself deeper into the grasp of her best friends

"I love you guys so much" Kate mumbled

"We love you too" Jamie chuckled

"Just remember to stay true to yourself, even if it doesn't turn out to be what you want. I know you place your expectations low but you're really talented Kate, you deserve everything, you deserve to be in this movie and you deserve to have yourself all over those movies covers" Ethan smiled

"She'll have her own Hollywood star next to Ellen and Will Smith" Jamie chuckled

"Then she'll marry someone with a yacht so she can take her sexy friends for a trip to the Cayman Islands where she has her second billion dollar account" Ethan laughed

"You two are planning my future better than me" Kate chuckled

"That's because your future is bright, there's far more to the world than this. And we can't wait to be with you for every step" Jamie smiled

"Awww STAP I'm gonna cry" Kate giggled

"Let it all out girl, let it out" Ethan chuckled

It was then the ringing of a cellphone filled the backyard. The girls and Ethan went numb. The blood drained from their faces and their bodies froze in place. It was directly 10pm. This was it. The moment of truth.

Millions wait for that life changing moment, that time when your life completely changes. The world you know just shifts into another universe, well that's what it feels like

"Oh wait, sorry that's my phone" Ethan chuckled

"Oh for fuck sakes!" Jamie groaned

"I swore my heart was gonna slice open my chest and run the fuck away" Kate said breathlessly

"Uh huh... Sure.. Hmm.. Really? Oh.. Okay... Thank you, I'll be sure to keep in touch. Thank you" Ethan smiled before hanging up the phone

The boy took a deep breath in and exhaled deeply, the eyes of the girl's were on him, piercing into the side of the boy's head. He seemed uneasy, his deep breaths made them even more nervous

"Everything okay?" Kate asked

"Yeah, Um... Remember that auditions I had today?" Ethan asked

"Yes" the girls said in unison

"Well...." He mumbled, building a suspense

"Wellll" they smiled

"I GOT ITTT" He squealed

The girls matched his squeal and leaped towards his body, burying theirs on top of his. The boy was tackled to the ground with the weight of the two girls on him

"As much as I love to have two girls topping me, this is not what I had planned" the boy chuckled

"Oh Hush, you know damn well this is the most action you've gotten since your mother gave birth to you" Jamie smirked

"I-"

"Uh huh?"

"I... Hate you all" Ethan rolled his eyes

"And we love you more" The girls giggked

"Congratulations again" Kate smiled

"Thanks, but we're still waiting for one more good news to come forth the night" Ethan chuckled

On cue, a ringing of a phone filled the backyard again. Their blood run cold and the warmth of their bodies drained into the coldness of the environment. Kate's fingers trembled as she reached into her back pocket, pulling her phone out and placing it before her leg

Her friends all glanced at the ringing phone on the green grass, this was it. Her entire future rested in the decision of that call, her career rested in the hands of that call. Her future all depending on what was done next

Kate's shaky finger pressed the speaker button and allowed the person's voice to fill their ears

"Kate?"

"ye-yes" She mumbled

"Hi it's May, you can save the number if you want to. I'll be calling you alot actually" the woman giggled

Kate felt her heart thump in her chest, a shiver went through her body as the excitement started to build, what did she mean why she'd call her alot?

"Anyways, my co worker and I would like to compliment you on an awesome audition today, it was the best we've seen to be honest. There was such a rawness to it and we were highly impressed that you memorized the script in just a few seconds. That blew us away and made it easier for us to come to our decision today" May said

Kate felt Jamie nudge her shoulder while Ethan contained his squeal, May was starting to sound promising and it was making her even more nervous

"What I'm trying to say Kate is... You got the part" May smiled

It was as if the impact had knocked every wisp of air from Kate's lungs, and she sat there struggling to inhale, to exhale, to do anything. That's how she felt now, trying to remember how to breathe, unable to speak, totally stunned as the name bounces around inside my skull.

"I...I got the part"
