Chapter 46
Narrator's pov
-
"That.. Is the most cringy thing I've ever heard" Autumn snorted
"Oh fuck off" Kate rolled her eyes as she dropped her hands from the girl's cheek
"iM nOt gOiNg aNyWhEre" Autumn chuckled
"We were having a moment!"
"Yeah, until your cheesy romantic side appeared out of nowhere" Autumn laughed
"Oh shu- wait. Did you just... Admit we were having a moment?" Kate asked, Autumn's laughter immediately died down
"Um. I have no idea what you're talking about" Autumn smirked
"You did! You ju-"
"Nope. No idea" Autumn snickered as she slipped out of the car
Kate chuckled and she left the car, walking behind the girl that was speeding her way over to the studio
"Dumbass" Kate smiled
"Right back at ya" Autumn smirked as they approached the crew that were already on the ground
The two girls stood in the area May had told them to meet, the crew were all scrambling around to get their last minute finishes on the set. It was a medium wooden bar with rustic exterior.
A black painted sign hung above the sandy frame of the door with a drawing of a bull's head engraved into soft wood. A bell goes off when someone enters, for tables smelled like the tall mossy trees on the forest when they were wet but they were pleasantly acceptable
"Morning girls" May grinned as the two actresses approached her
"Morning" Kate smiled
"Good Morning" Autumn mumbled but her smile was written across her face which made May raise a brow
"Is she drunk?" May asked
"What?" Autumn questioned
May stood from her chair and hooked her hands behind her back. Her eyes narrowed as she pierced into Autumn's every expression. May then started to walk around the girl in a circle, scanning every inch of her body for something. An answer perhaps
"You're smiling. Something's wrong" May glared
"Oh so I can't smile now?" Autumn chuckled
"Oh you can. I just need to know how much money I'll have to pay to cover whatever damages you've done" May glared again
"How about a simple 'have fun filming?' that would be nice" Autumn said
"...hmm" May hummed as she ceased her examination
"Have fun today on set girls" she smiled
"Oh we will" Autumn smirked as she headed towards her trailer
"What's on the agenda today?" Kate asked as her eyes trailed behind the raven hair girl walking away
"Today Kate, we're having the bar scene. The first action scene in the movie. We have your stunt double read-"
"Stunt double?" Kate asked
"Yes, so you don't get hurt in action. Unless you'd like to jump over a bar?" May chuckled
"Oh God no, go ahead" Kate smiled
"Alright, let's get eveyone in costume" May ordered as she glanced at the makeup crew
They rushed over towards the actress, lightly pushing her onto her seat and starting to apply her light makeup. A soft pink glow on her lips and dark swipes under her eyes to give her a more tired look. Waldrobe rushed in with her white blouse and long flowing skirt with a brown leather apron to complete her waitress look
"Alright, get her on set" May said
A tall girl then approached the actress, her dark hair was tied up under her hat while she held a notepad and a mic around her ear. Kate followed the girl into the set of a bar that looked like half of a building
The tall girl handed Kate a script while the brunette made her way around the bar where she was situated and started flipping through the scripts
Autumn came out of her trailer wearing something similar but without the apron. Her long black hair was braided backwards and flowed over her back
"Alright, Quite on set. We roll in 5. 4. 3 .2. 1" May whispered the last bit as she pointed towards the set
Kate inhaled a deep breath to form into her daisy character as the camera approached her face
Men cheered and clinked their extremely large for some reason cup of beer as they laughed about something they found pleasing to them
Daisy sighed as she swirled the cloth around the wooden bar, cleaning the few liquid stains that were left by dripping water down the sides of bottles
It's been a while since she's actually gotten a good rest, the nights seemed heavy and the pressure of being on her feet 12 hours a day now was starting to get to her but it needed to be done. Her father had fallen ill and her mother was the only one left to take care of home. There couldn't be two cleaning the house everyday, someone needed to go out and provide. So Daisy took that task and found a job right at a bar downtown
But it's been almost five hours since she's actually sat down, her ankles were sore and her eyes were heavy. But she needed to push herself, although it was barley enough to scrape up a weeks food, it was still something
The bell went off and Daisy's eyes quickly dashed towards the new customer approaching the bar
"Good Night and welcome to Black Ja- Jess!?" Daisy stumbled when she noticed it was the girl standing before her with a smile
"Goodnight Dais" she grinned
"Wha- what are you doing here?" Daisy asked
"Grabbing a drink ofcouse" she smirked
"Aren't you 16-"
"Aren't you also 16?" Jess chuckled
"I'm working here"
"Which is far worse than me having a shot, isn't it?" Jess said as she tilted her head to the side
Her eyes fell over the girl's body, Jess glanced over the girl's small curls in her brown locks to the arched brows that made her lips twitch slightly upwards. Daisy's face burned red from the attention she was given
"I have customers" Daisy whispered as she slipped the gate, making her way around the bar
"So I can't receive a mere three minutes of your attention?" Jess pouted as she spun on her stool to face the girl
"I'm working Jess" Daisy chuckled
"Then throw me a drink"
"You're 16"
"Bu- But" the girl pouted
"I'm not giving you alcohol Jess" The girl chuckled
"Then slide a pint of water. Atleast I'll look badass in front of these sexist men" Jess scoffed
"What's sexist?" Daisy questioned
"Oh. Don't worry about it" Jess mumbled
"I swear, I don't understand a word you say sometime" she chuckled
"That's because we're in a terrible era my dear. We don't have rights"
"What's tha-"
"Oh for heaven sakes Daisy" Jess rolled her eyes
"Hey! Refill over here for the boys!" someone yelled
The girls glanced in the direction of a few men that were at a table nearby, one of them had a shaggy beard that trailed down to his chest and curled around his lips. His shirt had burn holes in them while his leather had rested against his chair with his wooden axe.
"Right away" Daisy smiled as she made her way around the bar to hold a tray with a few tall empty glasses
The man's eyes ran down the body, his sharp stare burned holes along the girl's soft skin, leading down to her firm backside that looked plump from the tight tie of the apron. He licked his lips and nudged his friend's shoulder to check the girl out. Jess raised a brow as she glanced between the men and her friend that was oblivious to it all
"I don't like this" Jess mumbled
"What?" Daisy asked as she pressed the lock on the barrel to unload the malty liquid into the cups
Jess grinded her teeth together as she leaned against the counter. Her eyes seemed darker than usual, that smile she once had on her face had disappeared to a more cold expression. There was something obviously bothering the girl but she wasn't going to speak about it
"Don't go over there" Jess said
"What? Why?" The brunette questioned
Jess exhaled a sharp breath as her blue eyes locked with the brunette's. Her fists clenched together as she leaned even closer over the counter
"Just listen to me. Don't go over there" Jess whispered again
"I have to serve my customers Jess, I'm sorry" Daisy chuckled as she flipped the gate again and made her way out carrying a circular tray
Panic shot through the raven hair girl's veins as she reached her hand out to grip Daisy's wrist. The brunette furrowed her brows
"Don't. Do. It"
