Narrator's pov

"I hate her. I hate her. I hate her" Kate hissed as she pushed open the glass door of the diner

The tiny diner huddled despondent among the huge city buildings. Washed out under the overcast sky, it hunched in itself, fighting against the drizzle. Hundreds of people rushed by it, outside on the crowded street. The half a dozen customers glanced up as the door swung open, heralded by a blast of cold wind.

Unlike the outside, the interior of the diner was warm and cheery, with bright lights and colourful walls, the chairs being red and white with light brown tables, the floor being black and white. The customers returned to their conversations as the door swung closed behind the new entrant and the cold breeze was forgotten.

"Oh come on, she called you a name" Ethan chuckled

"So what? I didn't even touch her car, plus she was the on in front of me. She stopped her car in the middle of the street, for all I care it's her fault" Kate scoffed, her arms bent backwards as she slipped out of her coat, hooking it onto the coat rack

"She called you a blind dumbass bitch" He snickered

"Exactly. That's rude. She didn't had to be rude" Kate glared at the boy

They made their way through the isles and hopped onto a bar stool, her shift was starting in five minutes so she had a few to spare.

Kate groaned and buried her face flat against the bar

"I... True. I'm sorry it's true. But I still can't believe ittt" He squealed

"Can't believe what?" Jamie asked as she approached the two

"Kate over here just ran into the Autumn Hester" Ethan smiled sweetly

"Wh-no fucking way" Jamie grinned

"Yes fucking way. She almost ran into her car then they got into an argument. Katie over here almost popped the girl's head off her body" Ethan chuckled and placed a hand on the girl's shoulder, giving her a small pat

"Who? Kate!? In a fight? She can't even use chopsticks to pick up air" Jamie laughed

"Such a good friend you are" Katie glared at the girl as she rose her head off the bar

Jamie chuckled and leaned closer, running her fingers through Kate's dark brown hair and messing it up a bit

"Relax, I'm just fucking with ya" Jamie giggled

"This place is packed, Jesus" Ethan hissed as he glanced around the diner

Square tables were filled with plates and cups of those who ate messily. Probably those of boomers.

Menu under glass tops, the slow turning ceiling fans above was the only entertainment Jamie had before to two came into the diner. Unfortunately she had been working the floor all by herself tonight.

The jukebox played classical music that most people enjoyed, Katie brushed her fingers against her smartly dressed unfiorm of black and white.

The large windows held neon signs that glowed against the pouring rain that splattered against the gkass, small vases of yellow carnation flowers on each table, daily specials on a chalk board at entrance.

The diner was placed, seats were all filled and there were more customers awaiting outside. The diner itself looked inviting, on the other side of those doors was warmth and soft jazz.

Katie knew it wasn't her shift yet but Jamie had been working herself out all night, her coffee brown eyes met Jamie's who held a pout and puppy eyes, mentally begging for help

"Don't even try it" Katie groaned

"Pleaseeee pretty pwease" Jamie pouted

"I said no! I have three minutes more, let me enjoy it" Katie glared again

Jamie barley nudged Ethan's shoulder, pulling the boy's attention towards her. They had a mental conversation in their mind which consisted of Ethan giving her a confused look and Jamie shooting the boy daggers

"oh-" Ethan gasped when he finally realized

"Pweassseeee pretty Pweassseeee" The two pouted at Katie

"Oh for heaven sakes. Fine!" Katie groaned

Jamie and Ethan grinned widely as they gave each other a high five, happy of their achievement

"Just for that, you get a free coffee" Jamie smiled at the boy

"Throw in a hot coco and I'll wipe the tables" He smiled

"Hun, if you wipe the tables I'd get you a burger, fries and a milkshake" Jamie chuckled, Ethan's eyes went wide as he hopped off the stool and landed on his feet

"Get me a sponge, woman!" he ordered, causing the two girls to chuckle

A dinging of a bell went off alerting that someone else had entered the diner. A few whispers and chats started to fill all the tables. Kate furrowed her brows as she glanced at the person entering

"No way" Jamie

"Oh my God" Ethan muttered

"Is.. Is that?"

"May Hills!" Kate gasped, a few eyes darted in her direction and the teenagers quickly turned their attention away from the person that just entered

"I can't believe she's here right now!" Jamie squealed

"I heard rumors that she was in town" Ethan mumbled

"That explains why tonight is packed, they expected her to be here" Kate said

"So that means.. She's filming a new project!?" Jamie gasped

"Oh my God. Oh my God. SHE'S FILMING A NEW PROJECT" Ethan hissed

"Shhhh you're making people look at us!' Kate tapped the boy's shoulder

"I'm sorry but when Hollywood's best award winning director and producer walks into a diner and you're ten feet away from her, you don't stay quiet!" Ethan hissed

"We... We should go say something. Right? I feel like we she go say something" Jamie panicked, her feet tapped the floor rapidly

The teenagers couldn't keep their eyes off the woman, May Hills was known as the best director and producer out there. Everyone ran to her when they needed a multi billion dollar film. She wasn't easy to get a hold of but she was known for taking average actors and turning them into stars. It was the dream. A dream to be handpicked by May. Rumor has it that there was a new project in the works, that rumor was looking pretty strong since May was in town.

"Don't go over. Let her settle in first" Kate said

May unhooked her jacket from her back and hung it onto the coat rack, slowly making her way over to the isles. Unfortunately all seats were already taken

"Here. You can have ours" a group of teenagers said as they scrambled out of their boots and allowed the woman to take over

"That's really sweet, are you sure?" May asked

"Yes. Anything please just take it" they said as they clutched their trays, walking away from the woman

"Well, if you're sure. Thank you so much" May smiled sweetly and slipped into the boot

The booth was only a few inches away from the bar so the teens had a perfect view of the woman. They could have easily walked over there or overheard her conversations

"Oh my God she's sweet" Ethan squealed

"She seems genuine. Or it could be a front for the public, I don't know" Jamie pouted

"She's going to order something... SHE'S GOING TO ORDER SOMETHING" Kate hissed and her eyes went wide

"MENU. GET A MENU" Jamie yelled as the two girls started to panic

"WHAT THE HELL IS A MENU!" Kate panicked as she flipped through a bunch of plastic spoons

"I think it's that brown book on your left" May chuckled when she overheard the teens panicking

Kate's cheek burned bright red from embarrassment , staining her pale skin with red wine. Her hands gripped the menu as she slowly pulled it off the counter

"I'm going in. Wish me luck" Kate whispered

"May the gay gods be with you" Ethan grinned

"And Lauren Jauregui" Jamie added

The brunette chuckled and hopped off the counter, her eyes landed on May's who gave a small smile, awaiting the girl to approach her

"I'm.. So sorry you had to hear that, we're professional really. I just lost my self for a second there" Kate chuckled

"Oh don't apologize dear, it's just a menu" May giggled

"right. RIGHT. Sorry. Oh shit sorry. GODDAMIT" Kate stammered, her fingers ran through her hair as she tried to calm herself down

"You okay there dear?" May chucked

"Nooo, I'm standing in front of my idol right now and I'm making myself look like a fool" Kate chuckled and shook her head in disbelief

"Awww you're so precious. Come on, take a seat" May smiled and motioned for Kate to sit in the booth

"...are.. Are you sure?" Kate asked

"Positive, come on" May smiled and opened the menu wide

The brunette's heart was beating a hundred miles per hour. Her feet tapped the floor rapidly as she glanced at her friends at the bar, they gave her a death glare and moved their hands around the air frantically, basically telling her to initiate the conversation.

Never had Kate imagined she'd be sitting in the same seat with May Hills. Never had she imagined she'd breathe the same air as May hills. She chewed her bottom lip nervously as she glanced at the woman again

"I'm such a huge fan of your work" Kate started

"Aww thank you, it's really nice to meet a fan" May smiled

"Fan!? Just call me a stalker because I know everything there is to know about you" Kate smiled

Her feel then fell the second she relaized what she had just said, May raised a brow at the girl

"Everything huh?" She chuckled

"Oh my God. I'm sorry I don't mean it like that- I meant to say that I worship yo-"

"That isn't helping your case either sweetie" May laughed

Jamie and Ethan face palmed, slowly dragging their heads down below the bar so they could avoid eye contact with anyone. They were second hand embarrassed at their friend for screwing things up already

The second hand embarrassment was real and they were sure that Kate was about to fuck up her reputation in front of the word's best director.

If that didn't help, Kate decided to accidentally press a bit too hard on her pen which sprung forward and poked her right in to eye

"Owww" Kate hissed

Even the customers in the diner face palmed as they a witness the scene before them. Jamie and Ethan used their fingers to sprawl back their eyelids, frustrated and nervous about Kate

Yeah she was doomed from the start either way.
