Chapter 10

Narrator's pov

-

"I'm not gonna allow you to bring my spirit down" Kate said sternly

"Then can I bring your underwear down?" Autum smirked

"Ew" Kate scrunched her face in disgust

"You say that now, give it a few months" the raven hair chuckled

The grey metal doors of the elevator finally parted and allowed the brunette to escape the torture chamber with the movie star

Kate groaned and made her way out, heading down the red carpet hallway. Her eyes scanned the room frantically to find the set

"You do know you could just follow me and not look like a lost puppy, right?" Autum chuckled as she brushed passed the girl

Kate felt a stinging red sensation take over her cheek, her emotions couldn't decide if she was flushed from embarrassment or heated because she wanted to pluck the eyes out of Autumn's head.

There was just something about that girl that rubbed her the wrong way, the anger and raged that filled her just upon hearing the girl's voice was astronomical

It was as if she couldn't control the way she reacted around the girl. Autumn was irresponsible and careless, far from what Kate was and as much as she tried not to judge the girl, Autumn was making it hard not to hate her

"Whatever" Kate mumbled as she slowly trailed behind the actress

Autumn pushed open a door and Kate's eyes immediately went wide. Movie cameras were all placed on every side of the room, some even hooked onto a machine hovering in the air, wooden houses stood tall with a fee cast members dressed in white clothing walked around carrying firewood.

It looked like a scene right out of the early 80's. Where men worked and women had no rights. Utter bullshit. It was amazing how that one room was wide enough to be in the studio.

Kate surely had alot to get accustomed to. Before this, she had only been up for stage shows and small background parts of commercials, but this was far different. The room was wide enough to be a whole town.

Her heart was filled with amazement just looking at the set, so many people were working on the production. There was so much work that goes into a movie behind the scenes, everyday people put so much effort into bringing a script to life. There were two director chairs which May's Co worker sat in.

Kate's eyes barely glanced next to the man and saw Autum sitting in the chair, her legs crossed on each other with a bored expression on her face. Her fingers tapped away on her phone, paying no attention to the makeup artists that were applying blush to her pale cheeks. It was obvious that she had done these movies before, the girl was in five movies just last year and they were all a hit as usual. Yet Kate couldn't find it in her to respect the actress, maybe if she changed her attitude.

"Kate, what are you doing?" a voice came from behind the girl startling the brunette

"Oh, sorry" Kate mumbled, May chuckled andbolaced her arm on the girl's shoulder, pushing her forward

"Don't be sorry, but you're supposed to be in hair and makeup right now" May grinned

On cue, Kate was pulled away by atleast ten people. The brunette's eyes went wide as she was sat down in a black hair in front of a wide square mirror with lights. Atleast four people had brushes in their hands and lightly applied the makeup to her skin, another two ran their fingers through the girl's hair, adjusting the flatness and bringing some volume in with a curling iron. The rest stood in front of her with a few items of clothing in their hands

"Hmm, let's try this one" May said as she chose the white silky fabric

"Yes ma'am" the person replied and pulled Kate onto her feet, lifting her arms up and tugging her shirt off her head

Kate's eyes went wide when her chest was now exposed to everyone in the room, but no one paid attention to the girl. They were all too focused on their tasks and frankly, they were all accustomed to it by now.

Kate felt a pair of eyes on her, she glanced in the direction of Autumn but the girl was still focused on her phone. Kate couldn't help but furrow her brows as a slight disappointed feeling pushed through her. Was she dissapointed the girl didn't look? Did she want the girl to look at her?

"What the hell am I thinking" Kate groaned and shook her head, trying to shrug off her thoughts and push them far away.

Now was time to get down to business, it was her first time working on a big production movie and she wasn't going to mess it up.

The white fabric was placed onto Kate's body, it wasn't the kind of shirt that hugged her tightly. No. It was the type that matched an air balloon.

"What the?"

"Don't question it" May chuckled

"It's interesting" Kate giggled, May smiled and glanced at the girl, seeing a small panic on the brunette's face

"You're overwhelmed aren't you?" May asked

"Not gonna lie... A Lil bit" Kate chuckled

"And that's totally fine. It's your first day, don't try to make it your best. We all make mistakes, don't push and tire yourself out. It takes time to adjust, especially with a scene like this. Just take your time" May smiled sweetly

"How many times have you done this exactly?" Kate chuckled

"Way too much" May giggled
"Go chill in your chair next to Autum, your script is there"

Kate furrowed her brows before glancing in the direction of the girl again, indeed there was another chair next to her. Kate's eyes grew wide when she realized her name was written in white bold letters on the back of the black chair.

If that doesn't make you feel important then I don't know what will

After the crew was done with her, Kate made her way over towards the chair, making sure to take in every inch and every second of her moment.

"What are you doing here?" Autumn glared at the girl

Kate's jaw clenched as her eyes avoided the girl. She hopped onto her chair and took the script into her hands, scanning through the pages.

The name of the film was a moment to remember, written by Mia Jackson. Unfortunately Mia wasn't here today but she'll appear soon

Kate found no pleasure in speaking to the breathing ball of hate that sat next to her, tapping away on her phone and not caring about the lines

"Are you ignoring me now?" Autumn asked

But Kate remained silent, her eyes scanning through the words and memorizing the scrip. Her thoughts and attention was only caught on the pages in front of her

"I see how it is" Autumn chuckled

"You're highly bipolar, you know that?" Kate said without glancing in the girl's direction

"So I've been told, what are you doing?" Autumn asked

Once again, Kate remained silent. The girl returned back to her pages and her eyes ran over the words again

"Seriously?" Autumn scoffed

"Alright, places people!" the director yelled

The two girls then made their way over to the set, the man placed them on a lawn. There was a gate of rough wood, it was as big as a cow and ivy cascaded over the fence, growing tendrils in every direction.

The stone path was punctuated with weeds after every stone. The dishevelled, un-manicured lawn was more moss than grass and was over shadowed by huge weeping willow flowing down onto the dank and squishy ground. Clusters of defiant daffodils reared their golden heads amidst the gloom and there were smatters of fuchsia along side the scarlet and saffron hued primroses.

The dandelions were radiant sun, bringing memories back into life. Kate could see them in the way she did with beloved recollections, seeing without any image at all, only an infusion of joy.

There were the breads, the risottos, accompanied by dandelion greens - as salad in early spring or blanched and cooked with garlic and chilli as the season matured. Almost everything was in the garden, the wild garlic too, for they grew in such abundance of their own accord.

Bees loved the flowers; birds loved the seeds. Just as with the blackberry bush, nature wasn't responsible for this beautiful set but mankind sure made it look like she was.

"Let's start from line 1" May said as she glanced at the girls

Kate smiled as she pressed her back lightly against a tall tree, her character was waiting her neighbors niece that would be staying with them for a few years

"and, action"

The camera zoomed in on Kate's face, she took a deep breath in and allowed herself to relax, resting her small body against the bark of the free. The wind whistled past her and brushed her hair ever so delicately.

"Hey there" A voice said

Daisy glanced in the direction of the sound to see a future approaching her, the bright sun blocking her face and only showing her towering body. It appeared to be a female since the hair was flowing past their shoulder. Daisy smiled as the person approached her

"Hi" She said

"Watcha doing?" The person said

"Well I was enjoying the wind but someone came in and stopped it" Daisy giggled

"Well I'm sorry for intruding your space" The person said

"Oh, are you?" Daisy smirked

"Nope" they replied, causing both girls to chuckle

"I just moved in next door, I'll be staying with my uncle and aunt for a while. The name's Jess" the girl said

"Daisy" the brunette said

"Cute name" Jess grinned

"Some would say so" Daisy said as she tilted her head backwards, shutting her eyes and allowing the breeze to run along her jaw again since Jess was now sitting on the grass

"Well, you are pretty cute" Jess smiled again

"You're mighty forward, aren't you?" Daisy asked

"And you like it" Jess chuckled

"Why'd you say that?" Daisy asked

"Because if I acted like this around any other girl, they'd freak out and run to their parents. Probably tell them that a witch is in town. By witch, they mean lesbian. But unfortunately we live in the wild west where cowboys run around and stone people to death" Jess chuckled

"I think you're ahead of your time Jess" Daisy chuckled

"And I think we're going to make great frien- OW, WHO THE FUCK LEFT A STAPLE ON THE FUCKING GRASS. FOR FUCK SAKES" Autumn hissed as she broke character

"Cut!" the director yelled as a few crew members rushed on the scene, scanning the grass for any staples

"What the?" Kate asked

"Fucking dumbasses" Autumn groaned as she stood to her feet

Kate couldn't help but furrow her brows at the girl who had a pissed expression on her face

"It was a simple mistake, don't call them names Autumn" Kate mumbled

"It's their job to do what's right and make sure I don't get killed" Autumn hissed

"Okay wow. Killed? Don't you think that's being a little dramatic?" Kate rolled her eyes

"Just stay quiet and leave me alone" Autumn hissed

"Excuse me?"

"What? Are you deaf?"

Kate started at the girl in disbelief before starting to laugh hysterically

"Okay you did not just try to start that with me again" Kate said as she stood to her feet, standing just inches away from Autumn

"I could start whatever the hell I want to. Kate" Autumn hissed as she took a step forward

"You better back off. Autumn" Kate spat as the girl took another step closer to her

"Or else what? You're gonna scold me to death!?" The actress hissed

"no. BUT I SHOULD CHOKE YOUR ASS OUT"

"YOU AND THOSE HAMSTER FINGERS!?" Autumn hissed

"THESE FUCKING HAMSTER FINGERS ARE GONNA LEAVE YOU BREATHLESS!......OKAY NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE OF WORDS. BUT WHATEVER"

"FUCKING DUMBASS"

"FUCKING BITCH"

May rubbed her temples as she watched between the two girls who bickered like school children over the smallest things.

"Dear God, what did I sign myself up for"
