Breakfast; Notepad's.
My alarm clock blares at my side, small vibrations being made on the bedside cabinet as it screams for my attention successfully; I lift my hand and slam on the button, not really wanting to move but at the same time I'm excited to get up because today I get to see Odette.
My head raises from my pillow and my eyelids open lazily and glance tiredly around the room. After I got back from Odette's yesterday I spent a while working and then the rest of the afternoon thinking of questions I can ask Odette, I want to know everything about her but I don't want to seem too forward, like I'm prying into her life unwelcome.
I stroll towards my bathroom and quickly shower, allowing the lukewarm water to bounce off my body; the familiar sound of water droplets patter on my skin and resonate around the room, echoing against the black and white tiles. The citric smell of the apple shampoo fills my senses as I massage it into my hair, making sure it soaks into my bouncing curls. I love the smell of it, apples are great, it'd be even better if they did a banana one.
Finishing up my shower, I grab a white fluffy towel and wrap it securely around my waist, the cool breeze hitting my exposed skin as I stroll into my bedroom to get dressed - spraying some aftershave on then grabbing my keys and a notepad and pen off the counter before walking out of the door.
I raise my fist to knock on Odette's door, only to remember the last time I did this; my brain focus' and I press the doorbell, knowing that the red light is already flashing on the inside. The heavy pine door swings open to reveal a stunning Odette, she looks so natural and has opted for a casual attire, much like me.
I didn't really want to dress up because we're only going for breakfast, but at the same time I wanted to look nice for her, so I threw on my skinny jeans and a white v-neck with my black boots. I glance over her appearance; her make-up natural and her ombré hair in a messy side braid with a grey woollen beanie, she's wearing a simple horizontal striped tank top, dark wash skinny jeans, black slip-ons and a red blazer.
A warm smile appears on my face at the sight of her, biting my lip slightly at how incredible she looks, so effortless and faultless, almost perfect in fact. Without even trying. Her eyes avert from their shy stare of the floor, looking up to meet my already waiting green eyes. "Morning." I smile, knowing that she's watching my lips.
Her smile grows and she begins to blush, looking cutely at the floor again. Odette offers me a small wave of acknowledgement; basically a hello back. I raise my hand and hold it out in front of her hoping she will take it, thankfully she does and I lead the both of us down the three flights of stairs. My grasp tightens slightly on her small hand, her skin silky smooth as it lays tightly in my palm whilst I guide her safely down the stairs. The stairs aren't even dangerous, I suppose it's just an excuse for me to touch her, to feel her warm smooth skin against mine.
When we reach my car I gladly open the passenger door for her, she turns to me and lifts her fingertips to her chin, then bringing them forward and mouthing 'thank you'. Well, I've just learned the sign language for 'thank you'! I think to myself, smiling in return before shutting the door firmly, walking around the bonnet to my seat and driving us to the cafe for some breakfast.
When we arrive I quickly run around the car and open Odette's door before she can herself, observing her thankful features as a small blush makes its way onto her face. She carefully steps out of the car and waits patiently for me as I close her door and lock it, walking beside her into the cafe.
We sit ourselves down at a quiet table in the corner of the room, I sit opposite her and hand her a menu, "order whatever you like." I smile, glancing down at the menu myself. The Pancakes look good, actually no, I'll have a banana crepe! It's drizzled in warm chocolate and one of the most heavenly things I have ever had the pleasure of eating. My finger taps against the top of her hand to gain her attention, "what would you like?" I ask.
Her eyes move from my lips and look down at her menu, letting her index finger point to what she had chosen. I look at where her finger points, my eyebrows raising and a bright smile making its way on my face. She ordered a banana crepe like me, "I ordered that too!" I inform her smiling.
"Harry?" A curious voice asks from nowhere, I swivel my head to the left and find Amy stood in her apron with a small notebook and pencil in her hands.
"Hey Amy," I smile as I notice the familiar face. "This is-"
"Odette." She cuts me off and finishes my sentence. My eyebrows furrow, do they know each other?
"Do you know each other?" I voice my inquisitive thoughts.
"Yeah, we do, I've known her for years." She chuckles, walking over to Odette and giving her a side hug, to which Odette gladly takes. The next thing that Amy does surprises me; silence fills the air as both mine and Odettes eyes are trained to Amy's hands, watching them move with each other in a form of communication. As Amy signs I'm left completely confused, I feel so lost at the minute, everything is happening too quickly.
"Wait, you know sign language?" I question, trying to get her to answer. After a small amount of time conversing with Odette, Amy finally decides to answer my question.
"Yeah, Odette taught me. I'm fluent now, it didn't take long either. It's easy once you get the hang of it!" Amy smiles at me.
My head shifts to gaze at Odette, "so could you teach me sign language?" I ask hopefully, I'd love to learn, and it'd help me communicate with her!
A large blush creeps onto Odettes face and Amy starts before she could answer, "Yeah she could, she has loads of patience. I think it'd be great if you learned!" Amy enthused only making Odette blush even harder.
"Would you mind? I mean I'd love to learn." I ask her, watching as the permanent blush refuses to leave, her head nodding slightly. "Thank you!" I smile, I get to spend even more time with her now.
"Okay, what can I get you guys?" Amy asks, knowing that her manager is now watching her from the main counter. We give her our orders and I take my notebook and pen, giving it to Odette before I ask her another question.
"So where do you know Amy from?" I ask, watching as she leans down and grabs the pen, her cursive writing exiting the pen as she writes.
'I come in here a lot.'
"On your own?" She nods with small shrug of her shoulders, delicately implying that she's been in here both on her own and with company. "And you taught her sign language?"
'Yes. I teach sign language to a class of children at the library too.'
She continues. So that's why she was at the library with all of those children, it's because she was teaching the sign language - everything's starting to make sense a lot more now. "Oh that's good, do you enjoy it?"
'Yes, I love teaching them, they're really lovely. And I love reading (as you know from the amount of books in my apartment).'
I can almost hear a giggle escape her lips as she writes, chuckling at her own words. I laugh along, she's so cute. "Why do you love reading so much?" I ask. I kind of regret it though, I don't want to sound intrusive so I quickly correct myself. "You don't have to answer that if you don't want to, sorry." She shakes her head and picks up the pen.
'No it's fine, don't worry. I love reading because it's peaceful and I don't need to worry about paying attention to anything. I'm in my own little world when I read. Just me and the book.'
I smile as I read her words, she is so incredible. The way she thinks is admirable, how she makes the most of her situation. "I know what to get you for Christmas then." I joke, watching her chuckle alongside me after reading my lips.
I take the notepad from her and decide that I'll ask her a written question, my hand scribbling down the words messily and handing it back for her to read.
'So tell me about France, what are your favourite places to go?'
Her index finger traces over my words, my handwriting scruffy in comparison to hers. She smiles up at me and takes the pen softly from my grasp, her skin barely touching mine but enough to send a shiver up my arm.
Amy walks over carrying our warm chocolate and banana crepes, earning a small smile from Odette before she goes back to writing her answer to my question; "Thank you Amy." I smile and gratefully take the dish, my stomach beginning to rumble.
"It's no problem," she answers, hovering beside me as if she hasn't finished the conversation. "Harry?"
"Yes?" I chuckle, knowing that she clearly wants something from me.
"Have you spoken to Niall recently?" She attempts to ask casually but fails.
I chuckle, "yes, why?"
"Well I gave him my number the last time he came in and he said he would call me, but he hasn't yet." She tells me, worry in her voice, and also a hint of disappointment.
"Give him time, he'll call." I answer, digging into my crepe. The savoury taste of the crepe mixed with the fruity banana and the sweet chocolate allowed all of my senses to burst at the euphoric taste. This is truly amazing. I wonder what Odette will think of it...
"That was two weeks ago Harry." Amy breaks me from my thoughts. I feel sorry for her, and slightly confused as to why Niall hasn't called her yet considering he's had the biggest crush on her for months.
"Tell you what, I'm having everyone over tomorrow for a movie night. The lads are bringing their girlfriends and I was going to ask Odette, why don't you come too." I offer her, placing a forkful in my mouth as I wait for her answer.
"I don't know..." She contemplates. I glance over at Odette who eats a forkful of her crepe occasionally, still writing as hard as before, concentration flooding her face as her tongue pokes out cutely between her lips.
"Niall is going to be there, it'll give you a chance to see each other and not just for the five minutes whenever he comes here." I persuade Amy, a coy smile appearing but leaving quickly after.
"Okay I'll go." She agrees finally, jumping in her place a little bit through pure excitement and content at the idea.
"Good. Tomorrow at five." I grant, taking another forkful of crepe as my eyes subconsciously wander over to Odette.
"Okay great," Amy smiles and begins to walk away before she stops herself and smirks at me, "oh and Harry?"
"Yeees?" I exaggerate.
"Try not to stare lovingly at her too much!" She teases before running off towards the main counter.
I turn my attention away from Odette and glance at Amy, flicking her off jokingly before I turn back to Odette, only to find her gazing expectantly at me, not really sure how to react to my blunt actions.
I shrug embarrassedly, not really knowing what to do with myself. I hope she doesn't think low of me because I flicked Amy off, I was only joking, I didn't mean that. Although her reaction surprises me as she just chuckles and hands me back the notepad full of her beautiful writing.
