Bowling; Jealousy.
We're losing so far. I clearly over estimated my bowling skills because I assumed that I was a lot better than I actually am. We've only been bowling for about an hour so we haven't been here long, the lads and I got here first and the girls came five minutes after; I hadn't seen Odette all day today, so when she first walked through the rusty double doors of the bowling alley I was reminded of how truly incredible she is.
She strolled in so elegantly at the back of the group of girls, her crystal eyes searching for us and wandering through the sea of people that shield us from her sight. Long pale legs looking impeccable, and were accentuated by her black boots that she's obviously replaced with bowling shoes by now; her bright pink skater dress designed with beautiful lace swayed as she finally noticed us, the immaculate smile making it's way onto her face as her eyes lock with mine.
That was when she first entered, but ever since then during this night she still manages to take my breath away, whether it's a quick glance or a shy giggle, no matter what she does, it's perfect.
The five teams were chosen extremely fairly. Each boy is with a girl that is not their 'other half' as we're calling it, meaning that I couldn't be paired with Odette. Therefore, the teams are Perrie and Niall, Amy and Louis, Danielle and I, Eleanor and Liam, and finally Zayn and Odette.
Everyone is extremely competitive, well, everyone except Odette. I think she's just happy to be here, I think she's just happy to be around people that she cares about and that care about her in return; I've noticed that her eyes flutter around the room in admiration, almost as if she's never experienced anything like it, like this is all completely new to her.
"Harry it's your turn." Danielle breaks me from my thoughts and I look up to the screen above us that holds scores. Mine and Danielle's initials flash and I pick up dark blue ball, the weight being perfect to make the shot. My bowling shoes grip tightly against the wooden floor as I walk toward the strip. "Come on Harry." I hear Danielle's desperate voice, knowing that she wants me to make this strike.
My arm springs back and I take a small run up, releasing the ball when it's on line with the strip, our entire group goes silent as all of our eyes focus on that one ball, waiting for the certain number of pins to drop. A smile flashes onto my face and a cheer escapes mine and Danielle's lips as I manage to knock down nine pins rather successfully. That's the first time I've done well during the whole night.
Several claps come from other teams as I turn around, eyes searching for Odette to see that perfect smile of hers. Although she's not here. "Where's Odette?" My voice speaks in a panic, my heart beat racing when I still can't locate her.
"Calm down Harry, she'll be back in a second." Amy smiles as if my worry is ridiculous, she obviously knows Odette's whereabouts.
"God man, you're so whipped." Louis laughs as he picks up a purple bowling ball, getting ready to throw it for his turn. I roll my eyes at his words, although I know he's partially right.
"Shut up Louis." Eleanor scolds in my defence.
"Yes dear." I laugh at Louis' response, watching on eagerly as he knocks down eight pins; Amy picks up a lighter ball, getting ready to knock down the remaining two pins.
My body jolts slightly as a dainty pair of fingers plunge playfully into my side, the soft tickle making me chuckle and turn to find the culprit. Odette smiles down at me, her bottom lip taken between her teeth cheekily as she giggles at her previous actions. 'Did you miss me?'
"Of course I did." My voice is a low rumble and I'm almost sure she can feel the vibration; her standing body, positioned between my legs, towers over me - both of her hands resting on my broad shoulders and her blue eyes gazing deeply into my green ones. Her cheeks blush at my words and she bites her lip again teasingly, she honestly is oblivious to what she does to me and how she makes me feel.
My arms wrap around her waist as she remains in front of me, 'you seem to be doing well.' She signs, placing her hands back onto my shoulders as we glance up to inspect the scoreboard.
"We're second to last! You and Zayn are first, how are we doing well?" I ask in a chuckle, my voice full of humour as I watch her laugh at her own statement. As soon as our laughter dies down my eyes meet hers once again and the atmosphere becomes a lot more serious, "you look incredible tonight." I smile genuinely.
'Thank you.' Her hands re-clasp themselves around my head.
"Odette!" My head turns to an expectant Zayn, Odette turning seconds after to see what caught my attention. We are met with blazing eyes as everyone examines our current position. She breaks away from my grasp immediately and blushes furiously, walking over to pick up the baby blue bowling ball that she's been using all night.
Her arm swings back and she realises it at the most perfect point, allowing the ball to go in a straight line; at that moment everybody already knows that she has achieved a strike, and this is confirmed when a large 'X' appears on the scoreboard. Odette swivels cutely in her place after all of the pins fall, clattering at the end of the wooden strip.
"YES! YES ODETTE!" Zayn cheers in happiness as the scoreboard shows their winning turn. Odette being the one who took the shot. She jumps silently up and down in delight, happy that her and Zayn had been the pair to win; his hands wrap around her waist and he picks her up of the floor, spinning the both of them happily.
My heart clenches in jealousy at the sight of the pair - obviously I know nothing is going on because Zayn is in a strong relationship with Perrie, and mine and Odette's relationship seems to be progressing also, but I can't help but feel jealous. I can't help but feel envious at the way he is holding her and the way his arms wrap tightly around her waist, or how she smiles so effortlessly in happiness, or how her head falls back as she laughs so purely.
As Odette's feet both hit the floor the others congratulate them reluctantly, clearly wanting to have won instead. "Come on, we're going for ice cream, and because you guys won you don't have to pay." Liam smiles, telling the two winners their prize as we all begin to take our bowling shoes off.
I can't help but smile at Odette, I just want to kiss her, to touch her, to feel her skin beside mine; I want to laugh with her, and stare at her beauty all day. I want her to feel the same way I feel about her, I want her to get chills when my arm brushes against hers. I want so much, and I want all of it with her.
After exchanging our bowling shoes for our own shoes we walk to the small diner within the building, the American style theme suiting it extremely well. Each booth holds only eight people - four either side - meaning that two of us have to sit on a separate table. "The two winners should sit on the other table!" Louis shouts with excitement.
"Aww yeah that's a good idea!" Danielle smiles, her hands clapping eagerly. My eyes remain on my shoes knowing that a fair number of the group are trying to gauge my reaction.
After a few minutes Zayn and Odette are seated quietly at a separate table as the rest of us sit in the squashed booth. Personally, I remain quiet, I mean I love hanging out with everyone but I just feel the need to be with Odette, to be there if she needs me.
"Harry, what are you having?" Niall asks me, glancing at the menu in my hands that I still haven't examined. I scan over the choices and decide on Rocky Road, although I really do love mint chocolate chip, or cookie dough ice cre-
"Hi! What can I get you?" The chirpy waitress asks, giving me a shy smile as she stands waiting with her pen and pad in hand. Everyone gives her their order in an organised fashion, one after the other, until finally I'm last. "And you?" She questions with an obvious flirty grin.
A hand lands itself on my shoulder and I look up in surprise to see Odette with a shy smile. "I'll have Rocky Road please." I smile at the waitress noticing her eyes are on her shoes, she walks away with a guilty look on her face. Odette's eyes burn into the girls back, is she jealous?
I smile at the thought of a jealous Odette, my thoughts hopefully being confirmed as she takes my hand and walks with me to the other booth, Zayn taking my previous place among the rest of the group. "Are you jealous?" I question her with a cheeky smile as we sit closely beside on another.
Her blush lets her down as her face becomes a bright red colour, blue eyes averting from my lips. I take her response as a yes to my question and smile at her gleefully, using my index finger underneath her chin, raising those beautiful eyes so I become her main focus.
"There's no need to be jealous," my voice starts, eyes pouring into hers. "I'm already yours." I smile, my jade eyes averting to her perfectly pink lips, "and you're mine."
Odette's gorgeous wavy chestnut coloured hair tangles around my fingers as I bring her face closer to mine, her eyes focused entirely on my lips before closing as we touch. Feathery at first but more intense after a few seconds, her plump lips pressed faultlessly against mine in a gentle kiss, the best kind of kiss I could ever share with Odette; the kind that allows me to feel every emotion she has, that allows me to hear her voice without actually having to hear it.
My other hand moves to her waist and I hold her tightly as her hands lie lightly upon my chest, tracing patterns occasionally and making goosebumps appear on my skin. This is all I want, I just want her, to be able to do this all the time without having to worry about what anybody else thinks.
She takes me to another world, a world where everything is peaceful and quiet. She takes me to her world, one where there is no sound but so much to hear and listen to. Odette gracefully parts from my lips, giving me one last peck before opening her eyes. "I love that feeling." My voice whispers.
She gives me one final smile and bites her lip, a light pink tint overcoming her cheeks at her own words, 'I'll never get used to that.'
