Tanjiro's pov

I was still sitting in the infirmary room, holding Muichiro in my arms as he continued on sleeping. He puked two more times but it wasn't as intense as before.

The nurse opened the curtains and said "so, the food had rat poison in it like you said, he probably threw it all up but it would be better to take him to the hospital just for a check up"

I nodded and slightly shook with Muichiro, waking him up. He looked up at me with tired eyes, groaning as he rubbed them sleepily.

"Mui, we need to go now" I said and Muichiro sighed, sitting up slowly. "How are you feeling?" the nurse asked, Muichiro gave her a slight nod "better"

"That's great, do you have anyone to pick you up from here?" She asked and Muichiro slightly shook his head. "I'll take him to hospital right away"

His eyes widened a bit as he quietly said "hospital?". I nodded "I'll explain everything to you outside, let's go now"

"A-Alright.." he said and got off the bed, reaching for my hand. "Thank you miss, goodbye now"

"Goodbye, get better soon Muichiro" she said and Muichiro looked back at her and smiled slightly before we both left the infirmary.

"Why are we going to a hospital?" Muichiro asked immediately. "If I tell you, will you promise me not to panic?"

"H-Huh? Is it that bad?"

"Well… basically someone poisoned your food… probably Kanao"

Muichiro's eyes opened wide as he looked down onto the ground. "Mui..?" I said quietly, trying to make him look at me.

"What did I do wrong..?" He says quietly, still looking down onto the ground. "What do you m-"

"What did I do to deserve all this… why does she hate me so much"

She said, looking up at me, his eyes slowly filling up with tears. I sighed and pulled him into a hug "you did nothing wrong.. all that happened throughout the time you transferred here, it's all Kanao's fault because she just can't get over the point that I am with you"

"So it is my fault.. she did all those things because I AM with you.."

"It's not.. Mui, look at me" I slightly pulled away from the hug and grabbed his chin, making him look into my eyes.

"It's not your fault, understand? You did nothing to deserve all this, you can't control my feeling that made me fall in love with you. It's not yours or mine fault, it's all Kanao's fault"

Muichiro wiped his tears and nodded slightly "alright.. thank you Tanjiro" he said and hugged me once again. I returned the hug and kissed his forehead.

"Let's go now"

He gave me a small nod and grabbed onto my hand once again. He looked a bit sloppy and tired but other than that he looked fine but I was still really worried about him.

"Are you feeling alright, Mui?" I asked, making sure he's okay. He gave me a slight nod "mhm… just really tired"

Tanjiro's pov

I was sitting in a waiting room, waiting for Muichiro to come out. Suddenly my phone started ringing. It was Yuichiro.

"Yuichiro? H-"

"Where's Muichiro? Why is he not picking up my calls? I haven't seen him the whole day"

He said quickly. He seemed really worried about him.

"Don't worry, he's with me, we are at the hospital"

"HOSPITAL?! WHAT HAPPENED?!"

He yelled out. I pulled the phone away from my ear.

"Stop yelling, I'll explain everything when I'll lead him home, don't worry, I think he's fine now"

"You think? YOU THINK?! TANJIRO TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED!"

"okay okay, just calm down, alright?"

"Fine.. now get to explaining"

"Alright so… someone poisoned Muichiro's food with a rat poison… it was probably Kanao… but don't worry, I stayed with him the whole time after that, he vomited a lot but after some sleeping he seems okay but to be sure I took him to a hospital"

I heard Yuichiro sigh in relief. "Thank god.. please call me immediately when you get to know if he's okay or if they will keep him there, if they tell you something just call me right away, understand?"

"Yuichiro you are stressing too much, I promise he's looking okay now, I'll call you when I get to know anything, alright?"

"Okay, thanks" he said and ended the call right after.

I kept on waiting for like an hour before Muichiro filled appeared. "So? What did they say?"

"They infected something into my shoulder and let me rest for some time, they said that I am lucky I vomited all of it out" Muichiro replied. "Alright, that's good, can we go home now?" I said and Muichiro nodded "I think so yea, they didn't say anything about staying here for longer"

"Alright then, let's go" I said and stood up "also Yuichiro called and he seemed pretty worried, you should call him"

"Oh right, I forgot to tell him, he's going to be so mad"

"No he won't, I think he'll just be really glad you're okay"

"You told him we were in the hospital?! Tanjiro do you even know how much he will freak out? I am not gonna talk about my uncle, that's a chapter itself"

"It's good they are worried about you"

"I guess.. but sometimes they are just overreacting a lot.."

When we got to Muichiro's place, he only opened the door and Yuichiro ran out of the other room straight to Muichiro. "You're finally here! Are you okay?! Tanjiro said-"

"Yui calm down, it's okay, I am fine"

"I am gonna murder Kanao for real this time! If you didn't vomit it out you could die!"

I pulled Yuichiro a bit away from Muichiro to give him some space "don't worry, I'll talk to principal tomorrow, there's no doubt of me letting this slide, she has done enough and she will pay for it"

"Well if she gets expelled I'll still beat her a-"

"No you won't, you will get in trouble too if you do"

"And who cares? She has done enough damage on your physical and psychical health, she deserves it"

"Promise me not to beat her, okay? Go take your anger out on a pillow or something"

"What did you say?"

"N-Nothing, T-Tanjiro come, let's go to my room" Muichiro said quickly and led me away immediately, speed walking to his room.

He closed the door behind us and dropped on his bed. "How are you feeling?" I asked him just to make sure nothing was wrong.

"I am feeling great, after that injection they gave me everything seems fine" he replied while smiling.

I sat down next to him and ruffled his hair "that's good, I am glad you feel better, you scared me a lot" I laughed slightly "when you were sleeping in the infirmary that was probably the most stressed I've been in a while"

"Aww Tanjiro…" Muichiro said and hugged me. I returned the hug and chuckled "because I never saw you this weak and miserable, then you almost passed out in my arms… god just thinking about it makes my heart race"

"Don't worry, I am okay now" Muichiro said and kissed me. I returned the kiss and leaned against the wall while Muichiro was sitting on my lap.

Next day - Kanao's pov

"Kanao Tsuyuri, please get to the principal's office immediately"

I heard when I was sitting in class. I heart sank. "D-Did Tanjiro actually said it?" I thought to myself and slowly walked to the principal's office, scared.

I opened the door to the office to see my parents, Tanjiro, Muichiro and his uncle. "Kanao, please come in," the principal said.

I closed the door behind me and went towards my parents. I could only feel their stares burning my back.

"Alright so Tanjiro told me you've done a couple terrible things to Muichiro, do you want to list them out for us?"

I looked down at the floor, only saying "I've done it for Tanjiro, there's nothing bad about that.."

"Nothing bad about that?! Kanao y-" Tanjiro tried to yell out and get closer to me but Muichiro stopped him "Tanjiro calm down"

He let out a quiet "tsk" and crossed his arms. "Alright so let's see, you joined forces with Genya Shinazugawa eventually leading to Genya raping Muichiro, you cut of his hair, beat him up multiple times and recorded them on a birthday party doing "it"... Is there something I missed?" The principal said.

"Yes, yesterday she put rat poison in Muichiro's food"

"Is there a way you can prove it was her?"

"She told me herself when I yelled at her, right Kanao?"

I kept my gaze down, not wanting to make eye contact with anyone in the room.

"I see… well this behavior is severely unexceptable which means only he solution to end all of this is.. expel you"

"E-Expel? B-But I-"

"You won't talk yourself out of this young lady… we're really sorry for what our daughter caused, we will make sure to give her the punishment she needs" my mother said before dragging me out of the room.

Muichiro's pov

As Kanao's mother dragged her out of the room I looked at Tanjiro who did look at me as well "don't worry, everything will be fine now, no one will bother you anymore" he said and I nodded.

"Is there a reason you didn't say anything sooner? When I expelled Genya you could have also mention Kanao and I would keep an eye on her"

I shook my head "w-well… i-it was.. complicated"

"Is there anyone else who I should know about? Who's causing you trouble?"

I shook my head "N-No, no one"

"Alright, thank you for informing me about this, next time tell me sooner if something similar starts to happen, you can go now"

When we walked out of the office my uncle stopped me "Muichiro, I know I am not a perfect uncle but.. remember you can tell me everything, okay? I am sorry I was so harsh for the past week, please tell me immediately when something like this happens again, alright?"

I nodded "mhm, I will.. thank you"

December 31

"Watch fireworks together?" I asked while being on a call with Tanjiro. "Yup! There is an incredible firework show at one spot in the town and I want to watch it with you"

"Well I think I can go, uncle won't be here and I think Yui will spend new year with Giyuu so I would love to go"

"That's great, let's meet around 11pm at the square, alright?"

"Sounds good… okay, I'll go now, I need to go help Yui with something"

"Alrighty, bye bye"

It was before 11pm and I was leaving my house. It was already really dark so I kept on looking around myself because all I could think about was someone following me.

I got to the square and looked at the time "11:03". I sat down on a bench and waited for Tanjiro to come.

"Where is he?" I thought to myself and tried calling him again but he didn't pick up. People were already gathering around, buying food and drinks, waiting for the fireworks to start.

"Maybe he was joking… maybe he didn't want to watch them with me" I thought to myself, tears forcing into my eyes.

I stood up and was about to walk away but I suddenly heard "MUICHIRO!!" I looked behind me to see Tanjiro running towards me.

My eyes immediately lit up as I ran towards him. "Tanjiro! You came!"

"Of course I did! I am sorry it took me so long! My mother didn't allow me to go and then we got into a fight and she took my phone" he laughed.

"Won't you get in trouble for this?"

"Yeah I will but who cares, I want to spend the new year with you"

I smiled and gave Tanjiro a quick kiss on the cheek. "Thank you Tanjiro"

"No problem, let's buy some food now and then find a spot to watch fireworks at"

"Sounds good"

"Tanjiro, where are we going? The fireworks are starting soon!" I yelled out at Tanjiro who was leading me somewhere through a dark forest.

"Trust me" was all he said. I sighed and hept following him.

"We're here" he said after a while of walking. There was a bench on the top of the cliff where the forest was, from this place the fireworks will be incredible.

He sat down on the bench and I sat down next to him. "It should be any second now," Tanjiro said.

Suddenly we heard

Everyone at the square yelled out before the fireworks started. I looked at the fireworks with my mouth slightly opened, being amazed by them.

Tanjiro said his hand on mine and smiled "happy new year Mui"

"Happy new year Tanjiro" I replied and pulled him into a kiss.
