The Search Program
Toshinori yelped as the cup hit his head, causing him to almost fall off the chair. He dropped his own practically full cup on the floor before scurrying to pick it up.
While watching the sad feat, Tsukauchi sighed, rubbed his temples, and sat back down.
He knew he had to keep his cool.
Stay calm.
He just had a moment of weakness.
A fit of anger, if you will.
Toshinori quickly scuttled out of the room to get towels as the detective takes deep breaths.
Eventually the detective sits back and watches his friend clean up the spilt coffee with cold eyes.
It can't be a coincidence. But even if it's the same kid, there wasn't a video on it. So either they just didn't post the video, or this event took place before Hero Belief was set up.
It's been about four months since Hero Belief was created. But if I want a more defined time frame, I can look at the first video and assume they've had the account set up for a week beforehand.
This could be the biggest lead we have on the case so far--I just wish it wasn't due to Toshinori's foolishness.
By the time the detective's thoughts thinned, Toshinori was back in his seat, coffee cup nowhere to be seen. The cup Tsukauchi threw was also not on the ground anymore.
Tsukauchi swallowed before speaking clearly. "Toshinori. We are going to review what you said at a later date, because I suspect it had a greater impact than you initially believed. However, this information might potentially pertain to a case I am working on, so I will need details and descriptions in the meanwhile."
Toshinori's eyes widened as he looked at his friend--who was now in Detective Mode.
Did the young boy turn to a villain? Or--no. It couldn't be--the Quirklees Killer? Did i put him on the radar?
Toshinori froze, he hoped both those things didn't happen. The kid has a bright future. And All Might regretted not telling him that sooner. It was the reason he came to Tsukauchi to begin with--to find the young boy and apologize as well as to help the boy become a hero. The world needed more heros with a good heart. All Might would be honored to train the kid, even without giving him One for All.
The First Quirkless Hero.
It had a nice ring to it.
But unless he could enlist the help of his detective friend, All Might knew he might never find the kid again. Looking up, he saw the detective's cold stare.
Slowly, Toshinori nodded and the questioning began.
"About how long ago did this take place?" Tsukachi pulled out his pad of paper and flipped to a clean page. He then got his black pen out to take notes.
"The day of the sludge incident, so about four months ago." Toshinori thought out loud, hand to his chin as if to spark a braincell.
Tsukauchi paused, his theories so far being verified. It made him excited yet nervous.
"Do you know the kid's name?" Tsukachi asked hopefully.
"...No," was the reply. Tsukauchi sighed, shoulders slumped.
"What did the kid look like?" He asked in a more monotone voice.
"Well he was a boy, young. He was in a--I think it was black, though it could've been navy...no it was definitely black--in a black middle school uniform. He had freckles on his face, and green hair. Yeah the green hair was in a big 'do. Like a shrub--if you want imagery. I think--though this might be a little hazy since it was so long ago--that he had green-hazel eyes. I'm not completely sure of the color, I wasn't really looking into his eyes and we weren't close enough for me to discern the exact colors but I think they were mostly green. But his eyes were big...I remember that."
Tsukauchi scribbled down the description and then flipped back to the notebook pages where he interviewed the heros about Hero Belief.
Present Mic did say the kid had green hair.
And many sources say he was sickly skinny and relatively androgynous.
Otherwise, all the characteristics could potentially fit. But the mask did a good job at hiding their face.
It was hard to tell, but at least they had a suspect.
"Did they look sickly?" Tsukachi wondered aloud.
"Erm..." Toshinori shuffled through his mind, searching for the appearance of the boy. "I wouldn't say sickly, though he seemed to have a fast metabolism. He was at healthy weight from what I can tell."
Tsukachi nodded. A lot can happen in a few weeks, not to mention a couple months. Depending on what the kid did since the meeting will determine the state of how he is currently.
It all depends on what happened in the time-frame after the meeting to the starting of Hero Belief.
Tsukachi knew he was banking on this kid being the voice of Hero Belief, but he was willing to make the sacrifice of potentially being wrong if it meant he was closer to righting some of the wrongs of society.
And goodness gracious there were plenty.
But everything seemed to match up well--it was only a matter of finding the kid.
Tsukauchi moved to his computer to pull up his description scanner. "Do you suspect the kid is...quirkless?" He looked at All Might with a blank expression.
Toshinori nodded, "Yes, he asked if he could be a hero just like me if he was...an average, quirkless person." Toshinori's voice cracked towards the end and he looked down at his shoes.
Tsukachi said nothing as he entered the information they have in the description.
This platform that the Comission was able to make, supplied easy access photos of almost everybody in Japan.
Foreigners not included unless they are considered a civilian.
So no tourists included.
All he had to do was enter a mild description and then boom, results would show. Though the more basic the description, the more results there would be.
Green hair.
Average height.
Freckles.
Green eyes.
Fairly skinny.
Quirkless.
Clicking enter, he let the search begin.
He knew that the kid was around the age of a middle schooler and that they didn't directly know the height, but this search should at least limit the possibilities.
Looking over, he could see Toshinori was upset.
"What's wrong?" It was a stupid question, however Tsukauchi was a detective. Not a therapist.
Never a therapist.
Toshinori looked up with wide, watering eyes. "I-I really regret what--I'm really sorr--I want to help him be a her--the first Quirkless He-hero." Toshinori stumbled out barely comprehensible words.
"When we find him and help him, you can apologize." Tsukauchi turned his attention to his computer. It was almost done searching. "And if he still wants it...then you can help him be a hero."
Tsohinori didn't respond verbally. But he made sure to mull over his friend's words.
The computer dinged.
Three results found.
"Toshinori, come here. Help me find--"
BOOM
The door to Tsukauchi's office burst open, a fellow coworker, Detective Yori, practically falling inside.
Breathing as if he had just ran a marathon, the man gasps out words. "Japan is in...a state of...emergency...look at the news...."
Both Tsukauchi's and Toshinori are in utter shock at the abrupt events.
Tsukauchi snaps out if it first and grabs the television remote from his desk. He presses the on button as Toshinori and Yori pile behind his desk to get a better view.
The local news station is on, and though the television is muted, a red banner flows at the bottom of the screen.
Japan in State of Emergancy After the Distruction of Four Quirkless Nursing Homes
Tsukauchi quickly un-mutes the television.
