Why my stories are not tagged as spiritul, islamic or 'muslim'
So this is not a question but somewhat of a clarification.
There's a reason why none of my books are rated as spiritual and neither are they tagged as muslim or islamic.
Unfortunately, many people are living in a bubble and they wholly believe that muslims are utterly infallible and do absolutely nothing wrong. They don't drink or smoke or do the humpy bumpy before marriage. They don't do drugs or steal or lie or cheat or....
Our religion is perfect but the people following it are anything but perfect. Good and bad is an inherrent quality within every human being. Just because we're muslims, it doesn't mean that we aren't capable of doing bad things.
Similarly, we can't portray muslims as being these pious paragons when we, ourselves, are so full of rubbish. Guys, I can't have characters who constantly make istighfaar and don't swear and are always modestly dressed and never, ever look at people of the opposite sex because sadly, I don't do those things. I'd feel as if it's a lie. As if I'm trying to pass myself off as being better than what I am.
And I do not label my stories as Islamic or spiritual because my characters- though muslim- represent what muslims do today. I don't, in any way, say that what they're doing is right but we can't deny that it happens. And if I tag it as spiritual, I KNOW someone is going to tell me "But Muslims don't do that."
Believe me, muslims do that.
We really, really are not perfect but it doesn't mean that we can't try to be a little bit better.
But we are not perfect and it's very, very, very rare for me to see muslims that actually abide by what a heluva lot of stories on this site portray them to be.
