THEY SAY

QUESTION:

They say inside every old person is a young person. Then why is there an old person?

Dylan called me to the man-cave yesterday- to show me a new song vid. Usually, this involves a lot of cringing on my part and a final shake of the head/roll of the eyes as I walk away.

Not this time. I stood unmoving; dinner plate in hand forgotten.

The beauty within this vid aside... when I came back up to my cave, I was left with: "Why did she have to turn 100 to relive those things most loved by her?"

Followed by: "When did she shove the young person inside and shuffle out the old one?"

Followed by: "Why???????????????"

As is seen in the vid, age is no impediment to most things- not these days with all the conveniences advances in every field afford. She kept up with the much younger man and matched him in most instances... at 100!

So why are there 'old people'?

Forget the body. That's just a shell. The 'spirit' as was evidenced above, is strong. So why does the shell assume importance over the spirit?

Why did she NOT keep up with all those activities? Because the mirror and society told her she was too old? And she bought into this?

Much as it was joyous to watch, it also saddened me. What if she'd died the year before her 100th huh?

You reckon I'm wrong?
