ARE YOU a gipsy

QUESTION:

Are you a gipsy or a stayer?

I had nothing of substance to think about the other day... so I counted (least I tried) the number of times I've moved house in my life to date- this because we are... moving again.

This is by far our most 'organised' move. Usually, we just... stick whatever in whatever, and worry about sorting it all out at the other end. Round the corner from me, a factory is downsizing and as I drove past a few days ago, I saw "Large plastic tubs with lids $5." (I was on my way to go buy cardboard moving boxes which incidentally cost the same here.) Screech! Stopped the car, loaded up with 10. Got home... thought about it and went back for another 22. (Yes, today I am going back for more!)

The lovely Asian employee had to ask: "Why so many?"

"I have books. And papers. You know?"

"Ah."

He has no idea!

So, having my coffee later and giving my angry back a rest... I counted. 5 moves in the old country. 20+ here... so far. Half owned, half rentals.

I am a gipsy.

I know people in our circle who still live in the first house they ever bought. And in Real Estate... wasn't unusual for me to try to persuade some elderly people to leave their home of 50+ years and downsize.

I can't conceive that notion.

For me, changing location is like a holiday. (Packing/unpacking aside.) New area to explore, new things to do, new people... (I really should have bought that Combi about 30 years ago I reckon. The moving costs alone would have paid for it many times over!)

I like the excitement. (My back though... the last 3 moves has not shared in it.)

I like exploring.

Who among you is a gipsy and who is a stayer? Why?
