Haven't You Heard of Personal Space? (5)

Karma's POV

The same woman that brought me in earlier was giving out starter supplies and money. The cafe was dark, but me and Nagisa headed down to the table we were at yesterday.

"Let's see, money, directions on nearby areas the drug lord was, some canned food, blanket,a map, and a canteen with a first aid.", the blue haired Shiota dug through the small backpack.

It was ash blue and looked flimsily made but the material was pretty tough, I checked."Maybe I'll just put all my things in this bag instead.", he said. I shrugged and looked blankly around the room.

Some people were grouping up whiles others left off on their own."Ah yes the red haired brat.", a deep voice I can remember from the earlier days. I turn my head and smirk at the man who approached me.

"Grip-san?", Nagisa gasps at the large handed assassin."Here for the money?", I say now fully turning to him. He smirked acknowledging me.

"Don't think I didn't forget about that mustard you spread in my eyes you bastard.", he said dangerously.

I raise my hand a little with a close eyed smile."Oh no I'm not into such childish behavior anymore. Maybe instead you'd rather some diced ghost peppers up your as-", I was cut off by a light slap with a back of hand to the face.

It didn't hurt but it threw me off guard."You haven't changed.", he chuckled lowly,"And no I'm not here for the money I'm just examining.".

I deadpan a little,"So is this just a test or something?". He didn't respond and shrugged."Maybe.", he said mysteriously and walked off."I wonder what that was about.", Nagisa stepped beside me.

I couldn't help but smile a little at how innocent he looked at the moment. I pat his head briefly and turned to get my bag."So Nagisa, are we going to pair up?", I turn to him.

He furrowed his eyebrows."Well yeah. Cmon let's decide on where he's going to most likely be.", he heading toward the door, ready and packed.

"Alright."

"Maybe we should start by looking through the latest areas he's attacked. Even if it's just a group hired for him or something we can trace it back to him.", Nagisa typed through the news in the library's computer.

"Let's see, the majority of villages being attacked are minor coastal villages. The latest one is called Mizuha village in the Southern coastal area of Kyushu.", he continued.

I sighed and looked at the screen."Does anyone know his actually name?", I asked scanning articles while looking at the devastating pictures."He hasn't revealed it. Every just calls him the Bad Don.", the Shiota shook his head.

We currently haven't headed out yet, still gathering Intel on where we should start. It was well around 8 am but our adrenaline was kicking in from the mission's danger."So let's start by going to Kyushu to the village they took over.", I say stretched and grabbing my bag.

"Mhm. This will be the easiest lead we get.", Nagisa said closing the close tab and leaving his seat. That is until he stumbled forward with a blank expression

My arm shot out to support him as he stumbled backwards."E-eh?", he stammered and straightened himself. He put his hand on his head with what seemed either a nervous or an excited face.

Nagisa's POV

What? I was feeling just fine a moment ago. My heart, it's pounding I can hear it in my ears. A suffocating panic was climbing up my throat.

I'm breaking down. It's a panic attack. What am I doubting? I'm doubting our success, the dangers. It's a small village but they have already made motives to take over central cities.

A natural talent for assassination? To hell with that! I can't get through this with just talent. Is this the stress of an actual assassination? Sure our first target was right there willingly easy to strike anytime but it took all of us to kill him.

How am I supposed to this with just Karma and I with pro assassins against this man? He seems powerful. Can I? Can I?
"NAGISA!", my breath hitched at the sudden out burst of my name, snapping me out of my panic.

Everyone in the library had turned to us. I glanced around nervously, realizing Karma was still supporting my back."Let's go.", he said quietly and sharply and guided me outside.

"What happened to me?", I asked quietly grabbing a strand of my hair. His hand slipped to the side of my arm and tightened."The stress caught up to you. You're not allowed to ever break down like that.", The Akabane said, his gaze facing somewhere else as we neared a bus stop.

"Nani? But I've seen you lose control. It's only natural.", I mumble. I felt his hand then rest on the back of my head, triggering a fluttery sensation in my stomach.

"You're supposed to be calm and dainty so you can hold me back. Let me do the crazy things that let out my panic and anger.", he slowly turned his head to face me.

His eyes had a different look to them now. Sincere. My heartbeat jumped at the sight. Unable to restrain my emotions, I felt the heat crawl up my face. He smirked at my embarrassed complexion.

I snapped my head away with a small laugh of relief,"Seriously that's a ridiculous statement.".We stopped at the bus stop and I turned to him with a smile."Thank you Karma, I can be pretty uncool sometimes.", I say lightly.

His eyes dilated for a moment but were quickly hidden when he faced it downwards."Yeah I know."

The bus came by about 10 minutes later. We were dropped off near the airport and headed in, taking in the cold air of the large room the size of a third of those medium sized New York Buildings.

Karma had come back from checking the destinations, his bag slung over his shoulder."I bought the tickets for the closest place we'll get to Mizuha.", he said handing me one.

"What? I should have bought them especially for breaking down like that.", I said frowning at him. He shrugged."Too late now."

I rolled my eyes silently thanking him."Let's go to the waiting area. I got one that takes off in uh 20 minutes?", he said squinting at the tickets.

I nodded a little sleepily until I took a look at it myself. My eyes widened and eyebrows furrow in a sudden frustration."KARMA THIS DEPARTS IN 5 MINUTES!", my nerves awake and a rush of adrenaline flooded my senses.

He looked startled as I shot up grabbing the bags and his hand. Abruptly, I dragged him through the halls following where the waiting room would be.

"Hurryhurryhurryhurry.", I rushed, dragging him. The load on my arm suddenly felt lighter until I felt an arm press under my legs.

My breath hitched as I realized I was suddenly lifted into the air, carried by the devil himself."K-Karma!", I felt my heart flutter as he simply didn't respond but held me firmly.

"W-wait!- W-WHAT ARE YOU TOUCHING?!", I yelled as we walked by passerbys. I mean, what else would I yell if I felt a hand dangerously near the upper regain of my inner thigh.

He smirked and glanced away."This better not be a joke!", I say then squirmed as we entered a mob and instinctively wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Karma Karma...KARMA BE CAREFUL!", I scream at an incoming bench full of people busied with their laptops, phones or napping. He took no heed to my warnings and jumped through the people earning a few curses along the way.

"Alright I see it.", he finally says. My face felt like it was melting already and going through all those people looking like that? Embarrassing... And something else.WHAT IF THEY THOUGHT WE WERE A COUPLE.

The thought of me and Karma accelerated my heartbeat even more with a dizziness until I felt myself to be set down back on the carpeted waiting room floor."Um tickets?", I hear from behind me.

I turn my head to see Karma handing a flight attendant to two tickets. He glanced at me and motioned me to follow him. My heart hadn't calmed down so it took me a while till I finally followed him through the small tunnel that entered the side of the plane.

I walked a safe distance from him, holding my backpack straps firmly. A couple? No no I'm sure people will just laugh at it and move on with their life. Just something you might not see everyday, but still forget it.

Thinking that was the only thing that was able to calm me but, what was that? I looked at his back which soon disappeared after turning a corner into the plane.

The flight attendant that was greeting passengers still looked at where Karma had disappeared. A small spark of protectiveness whelmed in my chest. I breathed in."Hello.", I greeted as I entered with a forced smile.

She looked a little startled at the sound of another person's voice which didn't surprise me. Make the tightening feeling in my chest all the more bigger."O-Oh! Welcome miss!", she bowed her head.

Frustration flared and I shook it off, keeping my composure,"Of course...". I looked around for the Akabane since he hadn't given me the seat number. Everyone was already seated so the isle was clear."Nagisa!", my gaze snapped at the direction the familiar voice came in.

His hair was easily spotted with a small wave. He was sitting next to a woman in the window seat. Ah yes I get the isle. Score."That was unavoidable, Karma.", I sighed plopping next to him.

He just give a rather devious smirk."But it seemed like you enjoyed it.", he murmured but I still caught it. His words made me squirm and heat crawl on my skin.

"H-Huh."

The woman sitting next to the redhead continuing glancing at him which replaced the fluttery feeling in my chest with a tighten in my throat. My heartbeat shook in a panic frenzy.

What? I should be fine with this. I don't care, he's my friend. And a guy! But why?

Karma's POV

I could see Nagisa was feeling a little on edge. He was messing with the rim of his shirt, but he gave out a rather deadly aura. Who's he hating on so much?

I glance around and notice the girl I'm sitting next to was looking at me. She panicked and glanced away. I smirk figuring out what the little Shiota was so panicked about.

I slide my hand around his waist and pull him to my side abruptly. I could hear his breath hitch in surprise. I tilt my head near his ear."Don't worry I won't get distracted by anyone but you.", I whisper.

He stiffened which made a small sense of panic shift in my stomach. I drowned when he jumped from his seat turning away from him, all eyes on the Shiota."Y-You've seriously changed.", he said in a flustered  tone only loud enough for me to hear.

I relaxed, a small smile crawling up my face when he turned a little to the side and plopped back down. But I'm sure I angered him since he brought down the arm rest as a border and pulled out the blanket that was brought in the bag we received.

"Alright our plane is about to take off please begin to fasten your seatbelt.", the pilot announced.

"We'll sort Nagisa-chan you like you were on edge.", I said with a small plead. He glanced at me."I wasn't on edge...anyways, haven't you heard of personal space?", he murmured.

"Whatever do you mean?"

3rd Person POV

Nagisa didn't answer at all. He simply forced himself to sleep, too flustered to answer. Karma shrugged and pulled out his phone to turn airplane mode on. Well, at the very least that woman wouldn't be glancing at the Akabane anymore.
