About me:

I have always been a reader first and writer second. I pretty much spend all my free time reading both wattpad books and my favourite published novels. This means that I usually compare Wattpad writing to published novels and see where we fall short. There is so much to learn from published authors and I would love you to help you on the journey to become one, if that's your end goal. I'm just another reader that you encounter on the way and hopefully you'll find my thoughts useful in someway.

Number of chapters I'll review:

I do short term and long term reviews. Short term reviews are when it's 5 chapters.

Long term reviews are more than that or whole books.

If you are choosing me please mention in your form if you want a short term or a long term review.

Time required per review:

One to two weeks.

Genres preferred:

I'll read anything.

My reviewing style/ What I focus on:

I look at both micro and macro stuff. I'll detail how my review will be structured and what I look for, down below:

Book cover:

1. Is the image relevant to the themes of the book?
2. Is the mood conveyed by the image same as the mood conveyed by the story.
3. Choice of title font and it's size.
4. Spatial awareness exhibited, which includes, placement of title, author's name, subtitle, etc.
5. Colour contrast between the font and the background and the opacity and blending levels chosen.

Blurb:

1. Length of the blurb.
2. Grammar, sentence structure, syntax.
3. Paragraph structuring.
4. Does it convey too much or too little information?
5. Is it a hook? Will it entice readers to read the book?

Plot:

1. Clarity of the premise.
2. Pacing of the story.
3. Clarity of ideas when it comes to chronological events in the story.
4. How many plot holes does the story have/ is there anything that is implausible or illogical?
5. Originality of ideas.

Writing style: (creative)

1. Descriptions.
2. Dialogue.
3. Flow.
4. Voice and tone.
5. Correct usage of words and phrases.

Writing style: (Technical)

1. Grammar.
2. Punctuation.
3. Spelling.
4. Sentence structure.
5. Syntax.
6. Paragraph structuring.

Characters:

1. Portrayal of the Main character.
2. Relevance of the side characters.
3. How have the relationship dynamics been portrayed?
4. Were there instances where the MC acted out of character/ consistency of characterisation.
5. Clarity between characterisations of different characters.

If you are choosing me as your reviewer, please know that I do not mean to be harsh in my critique. I think criticisms are absolutely necessary for us to become better in our writing and I'll make sure mine remains constructive only. I will never tear anyone's work down but I will not sugarcoat things either. I don't think that helps anyone at all.
