Realm of Graves
Third Person (Sky Temple)
"Where could he be?" Fujin says as he paces around in a worried state in the Courtyard of the Sky Temple. It was only three hours ago that the God of the Wind had received a message from Sonya Blade that Jackson Briggs, a counselor for the Special Forces, went missing five days ago. No one have no idea where the former major went, not even his daughter Jacqui. Briggs has now become the fourth person to disappear in a suspicious way. The other people are Hanzo Hasashi, leader of the Shirai Ryu, Kenshi Takahashi, the blind, telekinetic swordsman, and Kuai Liang, Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei. And now, Fujin has been at the Sky Temple for the past five hours, for the two hours prior of hearing Briggs' disappearence, he was supposed to meet his brother, the God of Thunder Raiden, regarding some rumors going around the temple.
"FUJIN!" an echoed voice of a woman catches the Wind God's attention. But the moment he turns around, he's knocked to the ground by a high heeled boot connecting to his jaw. Soon he's roughly picked up by his arms before he's punched repeatedly in the stomach.
"That's enough!" another echoed voice says, before the punches cease. Fujin then feels something metallic under his chin before it was lifted up for the Wind God to meet the crimson eyes of one of the two new rulers of the Netherrealm.
"What do you want, Kitana?" Fujin asks when he gets his lungs to breathing properly.
"I want to know where Raiden is," the revenant empress growls. "So that way I can know where Kung Lao and Liu Kang went off to. They were supposed to return five days ago from training, but they haven't been seen since then."
"Lord Raiden has yet to return!" Kitana turns around to see a girl standing a yard away. The girl was a dark colored one, fairly around the same height as the empress, wearing a blue short sleeved shirt with a black White Lotus symbol over the heart along with wearing a pair of black ninja pants. Her black hair was pulled back in a ponytail with her chocolate brown eyes showing no fear of the other revenants that were either standing guard, or holding the Wind God on his knees.
"Kabal, bring her closer," Kitana says to the former Black Dragon agent. He nods before he draws out his sword hooks and approaching the girl with his inhuman speed. However, the moment he stops is when the girl jumps in the air and kicks Kabal in the neck to knock him out to the ground. Soon Nightwolf charges at her with spiritual tomahawks, only for to be stopped by the girl unsheathing a katana blade from her hip. Then using skills those of a Shaolin monk, she defeats the Apache shaman with just three strikes of her sword.
"Don't even think about it," Kitana feels the blade pressed to the back of her neck when she tried to open her bladed fans.
"Enenra, release the Wind God," the empress orders the Lin Kuei revenant, putting her fans away. "Everyone else, stand down."
"Thank you, Misteria," Fujin says in relief as the Shaolin fighter puts away her sword and helps the Wind God back on his feet.
"Now, if you're looking for Lord Raiden," Misteria begins to explain, "He left for Orderrealm this morning to seek aid to look for the missing people that are from Earthrealm."
"People from Earthrealm. . . Are missing?" Stryker says in disbelief. "How many?"
"There are four people missing," Fujin replies. "Hanzo Hasashi, Kuai Liang, Kenshi Takahashi, and Jackson Briggs."
"Lord Fujin! Lord Fujin!" a young monk rushes into the courtyard. "Something terrible happened!"
"Lead the way," the Wind God requests, following the monk with Misteria and the revenants not too far behind him. But before the monk could take another step, a bullet hits the stone floor.
"First Earthrealm, now Outworld?!" Kabal says in frustration as a large creature with a girl on his back crashes in behind the group. Then in front landed someone in Western attire as he aims his six shooters at the group as three dozen Osh-Tekk men surround them.
"Erron Black," Fujin recognizes the mercenary. "What brings you, Ferra, and Torr here?
"Ermac, Reptile, and Kotal Kahn," Erron says behind his mask. "Where are they? And what's with the freak show with you?"
"You're not the only ones with important people missing," Sindel says defensively. "For Liu Kang and Kung Lao disappeared from the Netherrealm."
"Right along with Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, and Jax," Misteria adds in.
"I think you should come with me to see what I've seen," the monk speaks up. "Something might have happened to Lord Raiden." That's when the cowboy reluctantly gives in, allowing the monk to lead the now bigger party to a room that was completely trashed, as if a fight occurred. Misteria then walks further into it, noticing burn marks on the walls in the room until see notices something on the floor. Written in blood was a phrase in an Asian Language, but it was not in Chinese:
グレイブスのレルム
"Lord Fujin," the Shaolin girl calls the Wind God over. "I found something."
"What is it?" Fujin asks as he walks over to see the message before he translates, "Realm of Graves."
"What talk is that?" Ferra asks, getting off of Torr to see before smelling the blood. "Ferra smell Tarkatan."
"Why would Tarkatans invade this Temple?" Kitana asks. "Aren't they supposed to be in Outworld?"
"They are," a new voice drawls. "But there are some who are supporting a new leader." Everyone soon looks up to see, that in place of the monk, stood a man with yellows veins like the revenants, but had red markings on his arms with black markings on his face.
"Quan Chi?!" the Wind God and Misteria take stance with the revenants.
"You were killed by Scorpion," Nightwolf says in a menacing way. "How did you come back?!"
"Someone found my spells and brought me back to life as a revenant," the necromancer replies. "I do not know who exactly, but I now serve them to repay my debt to them for doing so."
"Let me ask you something before I put a bullet in you," Erron steps up. "Are you the one who's responsible for the disappearances?"
"I'm afraid not," Quan Chi says. "But I do know where they are."
"Where are they, Quan Chi?" Fujin demands. "Including Raiden, where are the warriors?"
"You want to know where the missing warriors are, including your beloved brother? Very well then. Send two champions into the realm known as the Krypt. It is where the kombatants can be found."
"The Krypt. . . Realm of Graves," the Wind God whispers, now realizing what the message meant. "I thought that realm would exist in legends."
"Wait a minute," Misteria speaks up. "Isn't it rumored in Outworld that Shao Kahn's tomb's in the Krypt?"
"That rumor's actually true," Erron says. "After Mileena was overthrown, some of the elder folk in Outworld begged the Elder Gods to move Shao Kahn's tomb to somewhere else." But while everyone else starts to talk about the Krypt, Fujin ponders on, wondering why would the missing people from three rival realms would be in one. But soon, the god shakes his head and makes his decision.
"So be it, Quan Chi. I accept your challenge," Fujin announces, silence filling the room. "But if I find out about my champions going missing, I will personally hunt you down and destroy you myself."
"Rest assure you Fujin," Quan Chi chuckles before a portal appears behind the necromancer revenant, "I won't be responsible to what will happen to your champions in the Krypt." With that, the necromancer walks into the portal before it disappears.
"So who would be your champions to go to the Krypt?" Kitana asks. "For I will not volunteer any of my warriors to go."
"Ferra/Torr no go!" the girl goes back on Torr. "No go to Grave World!"
"I'll do it," Misteria speaks up. "I'll go to the Krypt."
"What makes you think that you can go?" the cowboy asks as he puts his revolvers away.
"Look, whoever brought Quan Chi back to life," the Shaolin girl starts to explain, "is probably expecting someone that Quan Chi knows. But they don't know much about me due to the fact that I came to the Sky Temple after Shinnok was defeated."
"She has a point," Enenra speaks after being silent. "If you send her, they won't know what to expect."
"Please, Lord Fujin," the dark skinned girl pleads with the Wind God. "I can do this. I can bring Lord Raiden back, right along with those that are missing from the other realms." At first the Wind God wanted to keep Misteria out of this, due to the fact that he secretly know about the girl's feelings for the Thunder God. However, he also knows about everyone, including the Special Forces, know how dedicated Misteria is on protecting Earthrealm and the ones she cares about.
"Very well," Fujin gives in. "You shall go into the Krypt to bring back Lord Raiden and the others."
"Ferra, Torr, let's go home," the mercenary cowboy says to the symbiotic pair as they leave for Outworld. "We'll see the boss soon."
"We'll be departing as well," Kitana says as an amber colored portal appears creating a gate to the Netherrealm. "We expect Liu Kang and Kung Lao back in the Netherrealm as well as the people of Outworld is expecting Kotal Kahn soon."
"Don't fret, they will," Misteria says as the revenants return to their realm. Soon the only ones in the room is the Shaolin fighter, and the Wind God. But they soon leave the room for some of the monks to clean it.
"Now all I need to do is find another champion to accompany you," Fujin says thoughtfully as he walks with Misteria towards the Jinsei Chamber to heal from the revenants' assault.
"If I may, Lord Fujin," Misteria speaks up. "I actually know someone that can help. Even though she's from Edenia, her family moved here during Outworld's Civil War."
"And who is this Edenian?" the Wind God asks.
"She's someone that sometimes comes to the Wu Shi Academy to train with Lord Raiden's permission," the Shaolin states as she and Fujin approach the chamber. "Her skills can match those of an Edenian named Jade before she was killed in Outworld's invasion."
"Contact Special Forces to find your friend," Fujin says before opening the doors to the Jinsei. "Those warriors that are missing need you, as we need them."
"As you wish, Lord Fujin," Misteria bows before the doors close behind the Wind God.
Third Person (Venice, California)
De la la, de la la. De la la, de la la.
"Johnny, answer the damn phone," Sonya Blade hits Johnny Cage with a pillow before using the pillow to cover her head. "I told Blake I'm taking a break."
"Chill out, I got it," the former actor grunts out as he turns on a light before slowly swinging his feet to the floor of his summer home.
"This is Cage," Johnny answers when he stops the phone from ringing and putting it on speaker.
"Johnny this is Misteria," a girl's voice replies from the other end. "You know, Misty?"
"Yeah, I remember meeting you," Johnny yawns while looking at the clock. "Why are you calling at three in the morning?"
"Because I now know where Jax is," Misteria answers, causing the S-F General to sit upright from her side of the bed.
"Where's Jax at then?" Sonya asks. "What's the location?"
"Not in Earthrealm I'm afraid," Misteria answers. "But before I could explain, I need you guys to find someone for me. She's somewhere in California, but I don't know where."
"Well who is she?" Johnny asks with his remarried wife getting a paper and a pen. "And why do you need us to find her?"
"Her name is Gina Everhart, brown shoulder length hair, hazel blue eyes," the Shaolin girl answers. "Also, it's because Lord Raiden is now the fifth person from Earthrealm to go missing."
"Holy--"
"Language, Johnny," Misteria cuts the fighter off. "Anyway, don't be expecting her to give in easy. Mostly because she's from Edenia, but she moved to Earthrealm when Mileena was at war with Kotal Kahn."
"Where can we find her?" Sonya asks, writing down the name that Misteria gave.
"She and her parents might be living on the coast," the twenty year old answers. "Gina loves the oceans since I took her to see the Atlantic."
"Alright Misty, we'll give you a jingle when we find her," Johnny says after Sonya gets out of bed to get dressed.
"See you soon," was Misteria's answer before the line goes dead. Soon Johnny gets off the bed and makes his way to his daughter's room before he opens the door and turns on the light. But he knew that she heard everything through her own phone.
"Cassie, let's go," the elder Cage says as the younger one automatically flips off the covers and planting both feet on the floor.
"What do you want me to do?" Cassie asks her father.
"Call your team and get 'em up," was the answer. "We need to find someone who goes by the name of Gina Everhart."
