When Jungkook got to Seokjin's dorm, the older gave him his best puppy-eyes, tail weighed down behind him and ears flat on his head.
"Yoongi's gone. I was lonely."
Jungkook brushed his words off with the wave of his hand. "It's okay, hyung," he let out as he was invited into the room. They immediately went towards Seokjin's bed.
Seokjin was in a pajama set— baby blue, absolutely adorable— and Jungkook was in sweatpants and a t-shirt because he took his hoodie off when he got in the building. It had been raining outside, so he had gotten wet, but coming here was a must.
"Did you have a bad day?" he asked as Seokjin rested his head on his pillow. The older patted the bed next to him, but the bed is just so small. Jungkook lied down next to him, but they were only inches apart now.
"Very busy day. Lots of orders and both me and Namjoon messed up one of the cakes, so we had to remake it quickly. It sucked." Jungkook frowned at Seokjin's sigh.
"I'm sure it still looked great, didn't it? I'm sorry you had such a busy day, hyung. That does suck."
The older gave him a weak smile. "It's okay. I'm much happier with you here."
Suddenly, he closed his eyes and let his forehead fall against Jungkook's. Jungkook's breath was instantly gone, knocked out of his lungs, and his heart started racing impossibly faster as he stared at Seokjin's eyelids.
So close.
Eyes fluttered closed, a soft smile on his face, taking in the comfort— Seokjin must feel safe with him. Something about that made Jungkook's tummy feel weird.
Jungkook also closed his eyes and returned the comfort, pressing a bit further into the touch.
What he really wanted to do was close the gap between them. The close, yet so far away distance between their lips. It was crying out for Jungkook, but so was the voices in his head.
The imaginary devil on his shoulder screamed to lean in and kiss Seokjin like he wanted to. The angel on the other side told him no, to comfort his friend in need and don't ruin Jin's day any more than it already had been.
It didn't matter.
It didn't matter because fate chose for him, a loud and annoying sound of a ringing suddenly breaking the two apart— Seokjin's phone.
"Fuck," Seokjin whispered as he sat up. His ears were red and Jungkook couldn't tell if it was because he had been resting on his ear or because of other reasons.
He reached over Jungkook, somehow even closer than before as he stuffed his hand under the pillow that Jungkook was on and pulled his phone out from under it. Instead of answering it, he put it on silent mode and put it back where it was.
"You're not answering it?"
Seokjin shook his head. "It was nobody. Um. It's gonna get late soon. Shouldn't you go back to your dorm?"
Jungkook's mouth opened and closed, not sure of what to say. Had he really walked all the way here in the rain just to be here for five minutes? Just for Seokjin to send him back?
"Um. Yeah, I'll go."
Seokjin must've noticed Jungkook's shock because he seemed to take in what he had just said, his eyes set on Jungkook. "Okay." When Jungkook slid off of the bed, so did he. "I'll get dressed and walk you there. I have an umbrella."
Right. Yay.
It was times like these that Jungkook had so painfully been reminded that he's the one who likes Seokjin. Not the other way around.
What was he expecting?
To be asked to stay over? To hold hands or to cuddle? To have Seokjin call him pretty names and kiss him until they both fell asleep? It was unrealistic to think any of that would happen, even if some things were considered platonic.
Seokjin just didn't want him like that.
He was crazy to assume he'd be there for anything other than comforting his friend for a little while.
