Due

Jewel POV
Next Day

"So they're official now?"

"Yep. Henry asked her to be his girlfriend. They're so cute I tell you Jewel. I didn't think he would of done it, but he did."

"I mean the girl is the ex of the bully. It's expected that he got to know her first before asking. And how's..you know..Everything else with him?" She sighs.

"He's getting by. Sometimes he just goes off into the daze and we'll have to shake him out of it, because he doesn't hear when we call."

"I understand why."

"I know. We got a call from one of the officials with information they managed to find on Henry from one of Bernard's journals that didn't get destroyed."

I sit up straighter on the bench, in the garden.
"Really?"

"They found out that he gave him double dosages of Fai and Fairy blood, because he was most compatible with them."

"Wow."

"They gave him small doses first. Adding it in the blood bag they fed him, and when they saw that it didn't affect him like it did the other vampires they tried, they knew what they had to do next. The first vampire to pass the test."

"But last time you said his vampire side is the most dominant right?"

"Yea. My mom and Steven brought a reader with them the same time Eleazar came to tell us what his gift was."

"I know Aro said he has the mental protection thing."

"He does. It's like his own mental shield. He had to lift it first, but I swear Jewel, I don't know if to be worried or scared with what they told us."

"What's wrong?" I asked worried. I glance at Felix and the others. I know they were listening to our conversation.

I was walking through the garden, when she called needing to talk, and to apologize for not being able to celebrate my birthday together this year. I mean I get it, where miles apart now.

"Eleazar said the mental shield is there, but it's not like Bella's. It's simply to protect his mind. The reader went after. He held his hand and looked into his eyes. After a few minutes, of hmms and ahs. He told us that his fairy DNA, is not as strong as the other two components. Ranking third in power sources. That it is has remained with its mandatory abilities on minimum level." She says in a deep voice, mocking how the guy said it I think.

I laugh a bit.
"So what does that mean? Can he fly?"

"No. He said he doesn't have the ability. Mandatory meaning it only heightened his vampire abilities. Strengthening the ability of his mental shield. I swear Jewel that man likes to speak in riddle format. Like just tell us what it is and get it over with." I laugh.

"What about his Fai side?"

"Extrasensory perception." My eyes widen.
"A sixth sense of a sort."

Well I'll be damned.

"Luis said that it's a type of paranormal ability about receiving information not gained through the recognized physical senses, but sensed with the mind. "

"So that's why he dazes off."

"Luis believes so. Henry says it's how he quiets his mind."

"Is the entire Benedict family gonna be powerful beings or something?"I joke and she laughs.
"Next thing you tell me little Aidie is already showing signs of controlling the elements."

"Please don't speak it into existence. I really hope he gets it at the regular El age, but we'll see as he grows. Carlisle keeps close eye on him, because of the whole thing that happened but so far he's good." I nod, even though she can't see me.

"Off of me. How are things Queen Volturi." She teases.

"Cut it out. I'm learning Italian right now with Heidi and..." I watch in the distance as Queen Athenadora appears at the furthest end of the garden. Corin, Afton and her personal guards with her.

She stops and looks in my direction for a slight moment, before continue to walk.

"Jewel!"

I snap out of it.
"Huh?"

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah." I watch after her. We were introduced when I first came to the castle and never really spoke after that, but I understood. She was still mourning the loss of her sister.

"Jewel." I hear Gwen sing my name.
"Are you sure you're okay? You keep dozing off. Is everything okay with you after everything? Are you still having flashbacks?"

"I do. But I'm fine, don't worry. I'm simply a none fearing vampire. What were we taking about again?"

"Life as Queen. I saw the picture you sent of the gift Aro gave you for your birthday."

"Oh my gosh! Beautiful right!" She hums.

"Spoiled rotten."

"Oh please. I'm not." I hear someone call out her name in the back. Sounded like one of the girls.

"Got to go Bestie. Some customer is giving trouble out front." I laugh.

"Oh okay. Better go stop Candace before she hurts somebody." She laughs.

"You know it. I'll talk to you later."

"Yeah." She hangs up, and I sigh.

"Jewel." Felix says, all of them looking at me.

"I'm okay." He didn't look convinced, but nods either way. I sit back, staring off at the flowers.

I'll be honest, the Volturi are not the ones you want to mess with. Aro, Caius and Marcus, though he's the quietest out of them all. They're dynamic is...impressive.

I understand why people fear them. Not that I agree with everything they do, but they got little reason for their actions.

Aro's hunger for power can be a little unnerving at times. Cauis I think has an unsettling need for chaos, and despises humans on every level of the word. Marcus is...hurting. It's really sad what happened to his mate. Like I get it.

The bond Aro and I have, how intense it feels and is...I understand his heartbroken state.

The introduction to the guard, after we came back from our honeymoon, was okay. I can't really speak to everyone, because Aro doesn't allow it, but I guess I'm good with just my team.

I'm still getting accustom to my new life in Volterra, and I do miss the others. Conversations with Gwen at work, family days.

I sigh again.

A thought pops up and I clap my hands together, sitting up.
"Hey Felix, I can ask you anything right?" He looks at me confused, but nods.

"What those guards said about the immortal children.." his face becomes serious.

"Jewel-"

"No. Aro distracted me last time. Who created immortal children?"

"I...can't answer that, sorry. Only Master Aro can tell you of it. Those guards were never supposed to speak about it." I roll my eyes.

"Just answer this then, is it serious?"

"Jewel-"

"It is." I look over to Saira. I'm still surprised sometimes when they talk. Her voice sounds velvety sweet. Almost as if it lures you to her, and then she karate chops off your neck.

Literally.

I saw her do it once. A nomad vampire tried to hurt me while we were out; after I was finally able convince Aro to let me go outside two weeks ago, and then that dude just had to ruin it.

Imagine how much harder it is to convince him now.

The guy didn't even have time to reach to me, because her hand was like a machete. Cut it off clean.

Eve has a more soft tone, but don't let it fool you. She'll hit a triple combo have you second guessing your own life choices.

"Saira." Felix shoots her a look, and she rolls her eyes, looking away.

I stand up from the bench.
"How bad is it?"

"Jewel you don't have to worry. The Masters are handling it." Felix tries to reassure me.

I roll my eyes.
"How bad?" They glance at each other.

"The Queens should never concern themselves with these matters Queen Volturi. The Kings handle it." Heidi states, and I felt the need to shut up after that.

I've never actually been to court, or seen a trial. One would say I've just been reaping the benefits off of Aro, and trust me, someone has said that. Said that I had no true power, and would never be able to amount to Queen Sulpicia.

"Queen Volturi." I turn around, looking towards Jane.

"Master calls." I nod, getting up.
