Chapter 37: Samson
Hey guys! Ready for a sad one? It's getting real intense. Hope you're enjoying life right now! 😈
I can't breath. I can't think. The world seems to be spinning. I can't look at anyone. It seems so wrong yet so right. Every little insignificant memory through my life flashed through me.
Command. The slap mark. Lady Samos. The sound of hand colliding with cheek. The arguments. Mother never leaving. Her exhaustion. Uncle Julian's odd sadness. Trying to get into her head only to fail. That strange memory. Some of the high houses' disdain. Mother collapsing.
So small and insignificant alone, but together they create an image that seems so shattered and twisted and disgusting. My thoughts stop racing when El asks a question.
"What really happened? And I don't just mean now, I mean before. How mother and father met. What happened to rest of our family. Who am I named for. Do you have the answers?" El sounds almost cold, but I know it's just because her mind is running at top speed, crying, breaking down, and trying to understand. I see Tia, inhaling and exhaling attempting to force her emotions away. Zeus is staring at nothing face breaking. Clara stares at us with sympathy.
Cameron sits with a pensive look on her face, glancing at Julian briefly.
"There's only two people you can get that from. Your parents."
The two people who could and would never tell us the truth, are the only people who can say what happened perfectly.
Cameron watches my face fall.
"I'm sorry I couldn't help you more." Suddenly some guards, start running down the stairs towards us.
"We have to run!" Tia says, trying to desperately get out of the mess we're in.
"She's right we have to move. Now!" Zeus says getting up. Cameron looks at us with a slight smile.
"I can slow them down for you. But you have to let me out. Do you trust me?"
Clara nods, but she looks to us.
"Yes," I say, speaking for all of us, while Elara lets her out.
"Good. Run as soon as you can. I said once that I would only use these powers for self defense. Let's call these post self defense."
She smiles as stands in front of us. "Run, and tell your mother that I still think she's less annoying than the Calore brothers." With that we run, listening to the battle as we do. We didn't know her power but know we do.
The silence of the fight, with just choking of soldiers, Cameron is a silencer. And powerful.
"Take that you bloody slivers! About time I got back at y-AH!" We keep running but we still hear her remaining cries of pain and her struggling attempts to protect us till the end.
Clara has tears streaming down her face as we run out into the courtyard, away from the fight and the woman who lost to much for a fight that she should have never been in.
