Chapter 34: Clara
Hey guys, I'm not dead! I'm here with a new chapter! Please enjoy, and here we go!-😈
I wait for hours until I am at last dragged to a new cell for the night. Down there, life seems manageable. There are others down here as well. I hear one whisper, "Farley?" in shock.
I speak clearly, and calmly.
"Not Farley, Clara. Clara Barrow. And you are?"
"Do I go first? Aright you bloody cowards, I'll go," the voice says with a bit of coldness but mostly underlying humor. "Names Cameron, I knew your mother."
"And... what about my father?" I question, knowing he's dead, but still wondering. Cameron responds with a hint of sadness.
"Shade? Not well. He died before you were born. Your aunt, Barrow, was heartbroken when he died."
"How'd he die?"
"He died saving me. And many others," another voice says, old and gravelly, yet kind. "I'm Julian Jacos. The woman next to me is Sarah. We were in Corros prison, when a raid began." Cameron continues.
"I knew the layout, I had just escaped myself and I led them in. I heard stories from Kilorn," she says, going on, with a hint of rage creeping into her tone. "The Samos son was aiming for Barrow, when Shade 'jumped' back to get her. And then, he was stabbed." I choke back a sob, broken hearted of someone I never knew.
But Cameron's not done. "And your mother? She missed him terribly, but she had a revolution to fight for, so she used it as fuel, until the day we got trapped. The king had her executed in the Bowl of Bones, after he had her head cracked open by a Merandus." It's odd I feel so sad about two people I never met.
"And what's your story Cameron?" I ask, hiding my tears. I can almost hear her smirk.
"For a part Barrow, you're not completely horrible. I had a brother, Morrey, we had just saved him from the trenches, when I got kidnapped and brought here."
"Thanks Cameron," I smile softly.
"No problem Barrow. Now get some sleep. Word is that the kings coming in a bit. Maybe you can avoid him." I do as she says, getting comfortable on the hard dirt floor, and passing out from pure exhaustion, unable to stay awake any longer.
