Chapter 26
The events and meetings that Annabelle is supposed to attend are completed. All of her meetings were successful. It's will definitely please her grandparents knowing that she is capable.
The remaining three days are left to enjoy the honeymoon before Annabelle and her husbands return to Ravendale.
Annabelle's and her secondary husbands' relationship greatly improved during the honeymoon. It's probably one of the benefits of honeymoon.
Her husbands managed to learn her past and interests and Annabelle also learned their past even though it was written in the documents but she is still glad to hear them sharing with them and seeing their emotion as they spoke about their past.
"Seducing women for their money was the only way for us to survive at that time." Alistair admitted.
"Even though, we hated it." Abel added.
"That is why we don't regret marrying you, Annabelle."I could have asked them why they didn't choose the other means to survive but the answer was obvious.
That was the best way to survive.
"Do you feel disgusted by us?" they asked her and Annabelle shook her head.
"No, I'm not disgusted with you. I'm the person who likes to judge people at the present rather than their past since people can change." Annabelle smiled.
"After all, you both did change." They smiled at Annabelle.
As being her assistant's she saw how that they were hard-working and they didn't show the traits that they were rumored to have them.
Not only they get to know each other on a deeper level, Annabelle felt more comfortable having intimate moments with them.
Currently, they are helping Annabelle to cook lunch. Since lately, they both enjoyed doing this activity with Annabelle and it's was a great way to spend time with each other.
They helped Annabelle peeling and cutting the vegetables, while Annabelle was doing her magic behind the electric stove.
In the end, they managed to make a delicious meal.
"Do you have any plans on what you want to do today?" Abel asked as soon as we sat down before taking the first bite of the meal that we cooked.
"Today, I planned to go to the shopping center alone since there wouldn't be another opportunity that I can enjoy a shopping trip by myself without having people recognizing me." Sometimes in Ravendale, I start to miss the shopping trips that I've would usually have in Etria.
"If you want to the shopping center, then you must bring a bodyguard with you." Alistair stated.
"With bodyguards, people will recognize me and it's will become a hazard for me and the bodyguards." I explained.
"There is nothing we can do, we aren't allowed to have you escorted anywhere without the bodyguard. It's stated in the protocol." Abel pointed out.
I sighed in defeat before taking the first bite.
It's will be hard to convince them to let me explore the shopping center since they are skeptical of keeping myself safe and unrecognized.
"It's delicious!" Abel commented and I smiled at him.
Then the idea struck in my head.
What if I sneak out?
I suppressed my smile once I began formulating my plan.
Fortunately, the timing is also good since more than half of the guards will be eating lunch and at that period I could easily sneak out. Also, it will give a good headstart
"Will you wash the dishes, then?" I gently asked my husbands.
"Sure!" Abel answered politely.
I thanked them sweetly.
'Perfect!' I thought. They will definately be distracted by cleaning the kitchen when I will be sneaking.
After I finished my meal I put the dishes in the sink and went upstairs to the bedroom so I can prepare my purse and make sure I have everything that I need to disguise myself even bringing the fake id.
Once I've heard the sound of running water, I grabbed my coat and purse and quietly opened the door and saw that Abel was washing the dishes and Alistair was cleaning the kitchen.
When Alistair turned his back I quietly went to the door and quietly opened it.
I'm glad that the penthouse is very big because it was easy to get caught considering that husbands have heightened senses.
Then I quietly closed the door and ran to the elevator.
Luckily there were no guards in the hallway and the elevator was empty.
In the elevator, I started putting my coat, and hat I also put a medical mask so my face so I would remain unrecognized.
Once I get I managed to reach outside I used fifty percent of my magical energy to teleport in the hidden place next to the shopping center. Since the penthouse has an array that blocks the magical energy to protect the people inside.
I was happy that I managed to cast a difficult spell. Too bad I haven't been able to learn how to wield magic earlier then my life would have been easier.
I hope I wouldn't need to use my remaining magical energy for anything else.
As planned my disguise has worked since I wasn't recognized by anyone nor I looked suspicious.I wondered how the secondary husbands will react once they realize that I snook out?
Hopefully, they wouldn't be so panicked that they will contact Nathaniel or Alexander.
Although I might get scolded later at least I'm happy that I managed to sneak out and just explore the shopping center.
I was filled with nostalgia once I started walking around the mall.
Although the feeling didn't last long until I've heard the gunshots.
People started panicking once they hear gunshots and a glass roof breaking and ran to the exit. I was very confused once I saw that people on the roof are targeting me.
I activated my translucent shield that covers my blind areas and ran to the exit.
'This can't be happening!'
'There is no way that I was being targeted by assassins right now!' I desperately thought.I have to be calm to be able to use a teleportation spell, in other cases the failure rate is too high and risky.
Few shots have barely touched the shield.
Only when the assassins started to use magical bullets that can maneuver around the shield, this is when their aim became better.
One bullet grazed the coat another bullet grazed the pants. I was almost escaped to the closed are when they couldn't target me anymore. The bullet hit my side
"Agh!" I screamed from pain but I couldn't stop and I needed to make a turn.
I made the turn and I quickly rushed to another hallway. There was also an exit to the parking lot but I didn't know if there are other assassins that are waiting for me. I managed to find a good hiding spot.
"M'am do you need help?" the person who saw that I was injured asked me.
"Ah no, I can handle it." I weakly answered. The person hesitated before exciting the building.
I started removing my coat to inspect the injury and possibly extract the bullet from the wound with magic.
I looked at the wound and relieved that I wasn't shot near my major organs. Although I felt drowsiness which I wasn't supposed to feel it.
Meaning the bullet was poisoned.
I used my magic to carefully extract the bullet from the wound while also healing the wound so I can destroy the poison without losing any blood first. I didn't care if the method was flawed but at that time I didn't have any other idea.
I fainted when I successfully managed to extract the bullet from the wound.
