"Is that the last of it?" I heard dad ask from the back of the truck.
"Yeah," I responded as I got into the back row next to my brother.
The Beta's daughter, Gianna, climbed in next to me on my other side. The Beta and his family were coming as well, while the third-in-command took care of the pack.
Gianna turned to me. "What do you think it's going to be like?" She asked me.
I shrugged. I didn't know what to expect. "I don't know," I told her.
Beta Zander and his mate, Winter, got into the truck next to my mom in the row in front of us. My dad got into the passenger seat in the front.
The driver started up the car and soon we were on the road.
I didn't really know Gianna that well, but we had a lot in common so it was easy to get to know her. She went to my school and was on the varsity soccer team, like me. I was a little surprised that we weren't already friends.
The meeting was being held in the state of Texas while we lived in northern California, so it was about a 24 hour drive.
My brother, Preston, was passed out. His head lolled onto my shoulder and a slight bit of drool fell from the corner of his mouth.
I pushed his head away from my shoulder and moved it towards the window instead. I then turned my attention back to Gianna who was going on about the Alphas.
"I hope they're hot, so it's not so boring. It'll give me something to look at," she muttered. It was hard for me to disagree because she wasn't wrong.
Sure I had a boyfriend, but why can't I stare at a hot Alpha I know I can't have?
"I know there are, my mom told me," I whispered quietly so my dad wouldn't hear. He would get extremely jealous if he heard what my mom said.
Apparently I wasn't quiet enough because I heard a growl come from the front of the car. Oh right, Alpha hearing.
All of us turned to see my dad staring straight ahead, but I could see a muscle in his jaw tick. His hands were clenched into fists and his body was stiff.
"You okay, hun?" My mom asked him from the seat behind him. All of us could feel the tension that my mom seemed to oblivious to.
He flinched when she touched his shoulder.
"What's wrong?" She asked again.
He finally turned around and we all got a view of his eyes glowing a bright green.
Wow, I've never seen him this jealous.
"What did I tell you about looking at other males?" He asked, his voice dark with jealousy.
My mom just looked at him with confusion. "What are you talking about?"
My dad's eyes found mine and I gulped, staring at him with pleading eyes, hoping he won't rat me out.
He then glared back at my mom before turning to face the front. My mom rolled her eyes.
"Men," she muttered under her breath. She then leaned back into her seat and continued her conversation with Winter.
Both Gianna and I covered our mouths, stifling our laughs. Gianna turned to me and grinned.
"This is probably going to be more fun than we thought."

After a long drive, we finally reached Texas. The sun was bright and the sky was a bright blue. Not a single cloud was in the sky. I had never been this south of the United States before and it was and it was kind of exciting. I was used to living up north where it was a little cooler.
We reached a city and I watched as the tall buildings passed us. People walked around on the side walks, wearing summer clothes even though it was fall. Some part of me wished that it was like this where I lived, even though I usually liked the cold weather.
The truck stopped in front a large building that towered over us. We all got out of the car while a couple of mean wearing a uniform took our bags.
The parking lot was packed and I saw a few people lingering outside of the hotel.
Gianna and I followed our parents into the hotel since they knew where to go. We entered through the large glass doors. We were welcomed by a large lobby that looked more expensive than my life.
A large lounge was to our right, where a group of people sat and chatted away. Large glass windows covered the walls giving the place a modern look. A receptionist's desk sat on our left.
A woman that looked to be in her late 20's greeted us as we walked up to her. My dad gave her our names and she handed him the room keys.
"Your rooms are on the 7th floor. Here are your room keys."
My dad handed Zander and me a room key. The receptionist continued, "There will be a dinner held in the dining hall tonight at 7."
My dad nodded, mumbling a 'thank you' before leading us to the elevator. It was a pretty large elevator that looked really nice on the inside. The back side of it was all glass, giving us a good view of the city as we moved higher up.
Once the door opened, we walked out into a large area with another lounge and a bar. We entered a hallway and passed by rooms until we reached ours.
I had to share a room with Gianna and Preston. Our room contained two bedrooms, one containing two beds.
The three of us gaped at how luxurious our room was. A large glass window gave us a view of the city. A black couch faced a flat screen TV next to the window. I almost died when I saw the kitchen.
"Damn. I want to live here," Preston muttered under his breath. Both Gianna and I instantly agreed.
I wandered into the room with the two beds and placed my bag on the bed closest to the window.
Gianna followed me into the room and placed her bag on the other bed.
"This is a nice room," she commented as she looked around.
"Yeah," I replied as I wandered into the giant bathroom. I think I died again.
"What are you going to wear to the dinner?" Gianna asked from the other room.
I walked out of the bathroom. "Probably jeans and a T-shirt. I don't know," I replied.
She scrunched up her nose. "But isn't it supposed to be like a fancy nice dinner or something?"
I shrugged not really caring if it was supposed to be nice or not. I didn't bring anything because my parents didn't tell me to.
"I didn't bring anything either. Maybe we can go get dresses for us to wear? I also kind of want to explore this place, too," Gianna suggested.
I cringed at the thought of wearing a dress, but I also didn't really want to make my parents look bad if I looked as if I didn't care.
"Fine," I sighed. We took turns changing into clothes more appropriate for this weather before leaving the room.
"Preston, we're going out!" I called out to my brother before we left the hotel room.
I knocked on my parents' door while Gianna went to her parents to tell them where we are going.
My mom opened the door after a minute or so, her clothes looking slightly wrinkled.
I didn't have to be a genius to know what happened.
"Gianna and I are going to go explore. Is that okay?"
She stared at me for a moment before shrugging. "That's alright with me as long as you are back in time to get ready for dinner. Make sure you look nice."
I nodded my head before turning to Gianna, who just finished talking to her parents.
"Let's go," she said. We walked down the hall and to the elevator.
As we stood in the elevator, I glanced at Gianna. She was pretty but she acted like she didn't realize it or didn't care. Her caramel colored hair was pulled up into a high pony tail. She was pretty short, probably around 5'1 or 5'2. She looked a lot like her mother.
I didn't really look like my mom except for her dark hair. Unlike my mom, I was 5'8.
Gianna had her phone out and said, "There's a dress store and shoe store on this street. We can go there first."
"Sounds good."
We exited the elevator when the doors opened and entered the lobby. More people were scattered around. I could tell from the aura around them that most of them were Alphas and Lunas.
How pleasant.
"Damn. Your mom was right. Some of the alphas are hot," Gianna commented, fanning herself with her hand.
I couldn't agree more.
A shiver crawled up my spine when I felt eyes on me.
I quickly turned me head and noticed a guy casually leaning against the wall, staring at Gianna and I.
"Do you see that guy? Is he staring at you?" She whispered to me quietly.
"I don't know."
He kicked off the wall and walked towards us. He looked around our age maybe a year or two older. He looked well-built and tall. His black hair was untamed.
My heart slammed into my chest as we watched the beautiful man walk up to us.
He stopped in front of me and I immediately looked down when I realized he was an Alpha. I glanced up and he had a small smile playing on his lips.
His skin had a dark tan to it, meaning he spent a lot of time out in the sun and his eyes were a dark brown.
"You have very interesting eyes," he murmured, his voice deep with a slight accent I couldn't put my finger on.
"Uh, thanks I guess," I replied lamely, not really knowing what to say.
His smile didn't falter as he stuck his hand out. "I'm Gabriel, Alpha of the Brazilian Pack."
I shook his hand. "Liana. And this is Gianna."
He gave Gianna a small smile before saying, "I haven't seen you two around here before."
"Yeah this is our first time coming since we are now old enough. My brother is about to become the Alpha while Gianna is about to become the Beta soon."
"Oh, what pack are you from?" He asked curiously.
"The Lunar Shadow," I responded.
Recognition displays don his face. "I've heard a lot about that pack. About your Alpha..." He trailed off at the end.
I shrugged my shoulders, "Yeah, we kind of have a reputation based on false rumors."
Regret filled his eyes, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to–"
I cut him off waving my hand, "No, you're fine. You don't have to apologize."
He nodded his head. "Well it was a pleasure meeting you both," he told us warmly. He then glanced at me and added, "And I hope that I will have the pleasure of seeing you again."
Something about his voice was soothing and I was kind of disappointed when he told us he had to go.
Gianna and I both told him 'bye' before he walked away.
"Wow, I've never met a Brazilian before, He's nice and very attractive," Gianna said from beside me.
"You need to get laid.
"I do. I really do."
We left the hotel and walked down the sidewalk. The sidewalks were busy with people. Most of them being humans.
Within a few minutes we made it to the dress store. We walked into the decent sized place. It was simple but many different kinds of dresses were displayed throughout the place.
"What kind of dress should I get?" I asked. I'm so clueless when it comes to this stuff.
"Something elegant," Gianna responded as she started looking through dresses, "Something that isn't revealing but will catch the eyes of males."
"I'm already in a relationship though."
"So? It's always good to feel free every once in a while," she told me as she looked at a black floor length dress before handing it to me. She then nudged me towards the changing room before going back to looking at more dresses.
I took the dress and entered one.
I put on the dress and stared at myself. The dress was beautiful. It had a slit on the side that reached my thigh. I released my hair from its bun and it fell over my shoulders into its natural waves. The dress contrasted with my bright eyes, making them stand out.
I took the dress off and changed back into my shorts and shirt.
When I exited the changing room, I went to find Gianna. She already had her dress packaged up in a box. She was looking at summer dresses now.
She turned to me when I came up to her. "Do you like it?"
I nodded my head. "Yeah, it's nice."
We took it to check out and I paid for it. It wasn't too much money. We exited the dress store and went to get shoes next. After spending about half an hour there, we were done.
We were walking back to the hotel when I checked the time on my phone. It was around two in the afternoon.
"Should we stop somewhere for lunch?" I asked glancing at the food places we were passing by.
"Yeah, I'm starving," Gianna replied almost instantly.
We entered a sandwich shop that looked nice. It had a nice summer-like theme with its walls painted a sea green and white tiled flooring. It was simple.
Gianna and I didn't waste anytime in ordering our meals. We took a seat at a high table next to the window facing the street.
There were many people here eating and chatting away. The sound of the radio playing was drowned out by the many conversations going on.
I took a bite of my sandwich and stared out the window.

"Preston, we're back!" I called out to my brother as we entered the hotel room.
A door opened and he exited from his room. He was shirtless and sweatpants hung loosely from his hips.
"Put on a shirt, you're not here by yourself you know," I muttered giving a glance towards Gianna who ogled my brother.
I rolled my eyes. Girls were always after him, but he was so closed off that he ignored them.
He told me he wanted to save himself for his mate, just like my dad. He should be meeting his mate soon, though.
Ignoring what I said, he plopped down on the couch and turned on the TV, "Where did you go?"
"To get dresses for tonight," I replied sitting the box with my dress in it on a chair.
"You? A dress?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I know. Weird, right?"
I took a seat on the couch and Gianna followed. We spent at least two hours watching TV. It was around six when we finally decided to get ready.
We headed to our room. I got the bathroom while Gianna changed in the bedroom. I changed into my dress and brushed my hair, leaving it down. I applied a little bit of makeup before glancing at myself. I smiled with approval before leaving the bathroom.
Gianna grinned at me, "You look amazing!"
I smiled at her. "Thank you, so do you."
She had on a silver dress that ended above her knees. It was a nice dress and matched her gray eyes.
She went into the bathroom to put on her makeup.
I put on my heels before leaving the room. My brother stood in the kitchen, dressed up in a white button up shirt and black pants. His hair was still messy but he didn't care.
"Mom and dad stopped by. They already headed down," he told me after taking a gulp of water.
"Okay."
Gianna came out of the bedroom and we all decided to head down to dinner.
An unsettling feeling overcame me as we stood in the elevator. I suddenly felt nervous.
"Are you okay, Ana?" Preston asked, looking at me with concern.
I nodded my head, putting on a fake smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"
He didn't look convinced. "You bite your lip when you're nervous, just like mom does."
I frowned at him. "I do not," I protested. Before he could say anything the door opened and I quickly cut in, "Look we've arrived. Let's go."
He gave me a suspicious look but didn't say anything more.
We followed the faint noise of chatter and music until we reached large doors that people were entering. This must've been the place.
Clenching my hands at my sides, I took a deep breath and followed Preston and Gianna into the dining hall.
