*Chapter Sixteen* {Multiple Episodes}
"Mystic Falls?" Penelope questions when her and Alondra arrive. "It seems so... empty"
"Welcome to the prison world" Alondra smiles at her feeling her own excitement. "Come on, he's around here somewhere" Alondra begins to walk down the street. Penelope quickly follows her throwing her dark hair up into a ponytail.
"So why Mystic Falls? What is this place?" Penelope asks.
"A place where Mal is completely alone. They trapped him here so he can't hurt anybody" Alondra tells her. Penelope remembers Alondra telling her a little bit about his past. A normal person would fear him after what he's done but Penelope didn't feel fear, she felt nervous but the good kind.
"So, how do we find him?" Penelope asks looking around the place.
"We look" Alondra shrugs. "He'll probably find us first, if he hasn't already. He's clever, sly. I wouldn't be surprised if he was watching us already" Alondra smiles to herself.
"How does this place work?" Penelope asks.
"It's the same day over and over again. May 10th, 1994" Alondra explains to her.
"How old is he?" Penelope asks.
"22" Alondra explains. "Or in '94 he was but you don't age in the prison world so he'll still look 22" Penelope nods slowly.
"So, he's about 43" Penelope says after a moment of mental math. Alondra frowns her eyebrows and turns to Penelope.
"More like 39" Alondra says. Penelope tilts her head and raises her eyebrows. "Don't you have math in your world? 1994 minus 22 is 1972" Alondra explains.
"Yeah, I got that and then 2015 minus 1972 is 43" Penelope tells her. Realization crosses Alondra's face.
"It's 2015?" Alondra asks. Penelope frowns her eyebrows and slowly nods. "No way" Alondra laughs a bit. "It's 2011 where I'm from."
"Oh, well that makes sense" Penelope nods. Alondra grins before walking down the street again.
"You wouldn't happen to know any winning power ball numbers would you?" Alondra grins. Penelope laughs and shakes her head. Alondra snaps sarcastically. "Come on, I have an idea of where he might be" Penelope nods and follows her towards the grocery store.
"Claire used to work here" Penelope tells her. "She quit a little bit before I met her when she found Elijah" Alondra's heart pangs at the sound of his name. Then it hits her. She's trying to find her mate only he isn't her mate, he's Penelope's.
"Come on, he's around here somewhere" Alondra mutters wondering around the store. Feeling like she could use a little snack, Penelope breaks away from Alondra.
"Mmm" Penelope mutters to herself as she grabs some butterscotch pudding. She peels open the top and doesn't bother looking for a spoon. She simply digs her finger into the pudding and scoops it out.
"Well, I was gonna offer you a spoon but it seems like you got everything handled" Penelope jumped and spun to the side looking like a kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
There he stood. They were the same height. He has short brown hair an a goofy yet devious smile on his face. There's a spoon in his hand, he simply tosses it over his shoulder not taking his eyes off of her.
"What's your name, Puddin?" He questions stalking towards her.
"P-Penny" Penelope stutters before blushing. He smirks and stops in front of her. He gently grabs her hand, sparks flying through both of their arms. Her eyes return to his. He winks at her and takes her finger in his mouth, sucking the butterscotch off of her skin.
"Mal" A whisper sounds from behind him. He pulls away from Penelope and turns around. Alondra smiles at him brightly. He looks exactly like he did when she found him. She takes a few steps towards him.
"And you are?" He asks frowning his eyebrows. Alondra comes to a stop. She remembers that this isn't her Malachai and homesickness hits her hard.
"Alondra, nice to meet you" Alondra forces a smile and walks closer. He smirks and shrugs.
"A few people would think so" He shrugs. "So, what did you two do to get stuck here?" He asks his eyes instantly returning to Penelope, who brightened once his attention was back on her.
"We came here for you" Penelope said. He grins from ear to ear before scooping her up in his arms and spinning her around.
"I knew you would come! I knew it!" He laughs setting her down. She couldn't help but to match his grin though she felt confused.
"Did you know we were coming?" Penelope asked him.
"I knew you would come for me eventually" He whispers. "I've been dreaming of you for the last 19 years" Penelope heart swells. She takes his face in the palms of her hand gently.
"If I would have known, I would have come sooner" She whispers to him.
"No worries, Puddin, you're here now" He winks at her. Alondra smiles at the two of them.
"As romantic as the 14th isle is, don't you wanna get home?" Alondra brings them from their moment.
"Got a Bennett witch with ya?" Kai asks.
"Better" Penelope grins and looks at Alondra. "We've got a whitelighter"
"Whitelighter, witch, untriggered werewolf" Alondra mutters with a light smirk on her face. Kai presses his lips together slightly impressed slightly confused. "But who's keeping track right?" Alondra grins with a shrug.
"So you can get us out of here?" Kai asks raising his eyebrows.
"I wouldn't have brought us here if I couldn't get us out" Alondra tells him.
"Well then? What are we waiting for?" Kai grins. Alondra walks over to them and grabs their wrists. "Oh! Wait! Wait" Kai says backing away.
"What?" Penelope asks.
"Come on" Kai grabs her hand and drags her away. Alondra races to keep up with them. He leads them to his little hang out. He quickly packs his bag.
"A pager, really?" Penelope asks when she notices all the things he's putting in his bag. He gives her a wide grin.
"555-Hiya-Kai, no way I'm giving those digits up" He winks at her. She laughs and shakes her head not having the heart to tell him they don't use pagers anymore. "What year is it anyways?" He asks her.
"2015" Penelope responds. His jaw drops slightly.
"Awesome" He mutters. She smiles at him. He stands up and slings his backpack over his shoulder. "I'm ready" He walks over to them and grabs her hand. She intertwines their fingers and he can't help but to press his lips against her forehead. Alondra grabs their free hands and orbs, or teleports, them back to New Orleans.
"That was awesome" Kai grins. Alondra smiles at him before forcing herself to look away.
Kai whistles impressively as he looks around. Alondra drops their hands as Hanna races over to them. She looks at Penelope and relaxes immensely. Penelope grins at her mother and hugs her tightly.
"Thank God you're alright" Hanna whispers holding her tightly.
"I'm sorry for worrying you" Penelope whispers. Hanna simply sighs and pulls away from her. "Mom this is Malachai, Mal this is my mother, Hanna"
"Mal, huh?" Kai smiles and Penelope gives him a small smile.
"How long has it been?" Alondra questions.
"You've been gone close to five hours" Hanna tells them. "While you were gone, we've been working on that spell. I think we're getting somewhere" Alondra grins and follows her to where Bonnie, Davina and the rest of the coven is.
"We altered it slightly, just like you suggested. I think this is gonna work" Bonnie said handing her the paper with the spell on it. "It'll take a lot of power but we'll be able to do it" Bonnie said smiling at Davina who smiled back.
It took a lot of convincing from Elijah to get Davina to trust Claire's coven but she's glad she did. She felt like she could truly trust them. She felt as if she could count on them unlike the French Quarter witches. She listened to Elijah. Working with him, working with Claire, with all of them would allow her to come out of hiding. It would allow her to be normal again, she wouldn't have to live in fear. All she needs is to bring Claire back, she was all too willing to help.
It didn't matter that Davina hardly knew Claire, the couple of times she saw her, she made one hell of an impression. For someone who can handle the Mikaelson's, specifically Klaus, oughta be strong enough to keep their word. Davina felt as if the leap of faith to trust them was worth the risk and so far, she hasn't regretted her decision.
Of course, it's put some strain on her relationship with Marcel but Davina knew he would come around. If they worked together, they got to live. They got to be happy. If they refused, Davina didn't doubt that Claire and the Mikaelson's would destroy the entire city and rebuild. Davina didn't want that, she just wished Marcel would come to terms with this change soon, before the Mikaelson's lost their patience.
That's another reason Davina wanted to bring Claire back. The Mikaelson's were losing their edge. They were becoming more ruthless, heartless. They were dominating the city whether Marcel liked it or not. They were killing humans, witches, even some of Marcel's friends and there was truly nothing Marcel could do about it. With Claire back, she would be able to rein them back in. Settle things down.
"How do we know this spell is gonna work?" Caroline asks nervously. Enzo holds her close to him. "Even if we can get Alondra back to her time how can we get Claire back to ours?" She asks.
"I'll take the spell with me, I'll go home and get Claire back." Alondra explains.
"So, we're just supposed to trust you?" Kol asks clenching his fists.
"I know it's not easy" Kol scoffs. "But what other choice do you have?"
"Can you take one of us with you?" Henrik asks. All eyes turned to him. "You took Penny to the prison world, take me to yours and I'll personally make sure Claire returns" Henrik says.
"Why you?" Kol growled.
"Because I'm the one who actually has magic" Henrik tells him. "I have the best chance at bringing Claire back" He tells him. Kol growls and marches forward but Elijah presses his hand on his chest.
"As much as I would like to be the one who goes to get Claire, Henrik is right" Elijah tells him. "He is the best one to bring her back." Henrik nods to his older brother who returns the nod.
"It'll take more magic but it's possible" Hanna tells them.
"Let's do this" Kol growled wanting Claire back sooner rather than later. Alondra nods and holds her hand out to Henrik. He grabs it and stands close. All the witches, and wizards, stand in a circle around them. Archie holds onto Kol, siphoning from him.
Soon their chanting the spell. At first it doesn't seem like it's working. It takes chant after chant before something actually happens. Alondra tightens her grip on Henrik before the two of them disappear.
"Now what?" Enzo questions.
"Now we wait" Hanna whispers.
