*Chapter Forty Eight*

*It's finally finished! I hope you guys like it! Tell me what you think! Thank you again so much for all the support! Love you all!*

The basement of the Abattoir is dark and damp. On the floor in the center of the room is a large pentagram. Within the pentagram is Esther Mikaelson. Around her are candles that give her enough light to see within her small prison, everything outside the pentagram is black.

She slowly walks along the invisible barrier. Her eyebrows are frowned and her lips pursed. She continues to go over her more recent plan and how it had failed. She knew she had gotten into Elijah's head but not nearly as deep as she needed too to change him, to make him need her.

The Pleine Lune coven had, yet again, proven to be stronger than she anticipated. Claire is stronger than she anticipated. Esther counts her lucky stars that Claire's not a vampire. She can only imagine the power her son's mate will have should she turn.

Her desperation to turn her children human amplifies. If her son's are human, Claire will have no reason to turn a vampire. Should she succeed in turning them human, they can all be a family once more.

Luckily for her, Esther has another plan up her sleeve. A plan that will either lead to her immediate death or her freedom. A plan she didn't want to use but a plan she can no longer avoid.

"Must you always linger in the darkness?" Esther asks slowly turning around as she senses one of her sons. "Come, Niklaus," She whispers into the shadows. She lifts her hand and beckons him forward. It takes a few moments but Klaus comes within the light of the candles. "I knew you would come," She says lowering her hand.

"I have to admit, I am impressed that this plan worked," Klaus tells her, his eyes looking around her invisible prison. "Do you ever get tired of failing?" Klaus smirks.

"I don't see this as a failure," Esther tells a half truth. While she hadn't gotten deeper in Elijah's mind, she had entered it. It wouldn't take much to push Elijah and have him see things her way, all she had to do was get out and get to him. "Just a learning opportunity and I've been learning a lot about your mate," Esther says leaving an unsettling feeling in Klaus's chest.

"Well, lesson over," Klaus tells her. "You've been outsmarted, yet again," Klaus smirks walking up to the edge of the border. "And this time you will die. This time you won't be coming back,"

"I wouldn't be so sure," Esther whispers. Klaus's eyes narrowed. "I would like to talk to my future daughter-in-law,"

"She's not here," Klaus states, feeling his protectiveness surge. He doesn't know what Esther is thinking and he doesn't like it. He knows she has something in mind for Claire and that knowledge alone makes him want to keep the two separated. "You're dealing with me right now,"

"Trust me," Esther stresses. "She will want to hear what I have to say," Klaus growls glaring at her.

"What could you possibly say to her?" Klaus snarls. "You've done enough damage to this family, to my family. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you right now,"

"I can give you two," Esther tells him. Klaus frowns his eyebrows. "Aaron William Forbes and Theodore Mikaelson," The moment Theodore's name leaves her lips her back is slammed against the barrier, her sons hand wrapped around her throat.

"How dare you say their names," Klaus growls, anger flaring through his veins. "I will not bring Claire here for you to torment her about her sons,"

"I can give them to her," Esther chokes out. Klaus releases her instantly. Esther falls to the ground coughing. "I can reunite Claire with them but I must speak with her,"

"No," Klaus shakes his head kneeling in front of her. "I will not bring her here and have you lie to her face,"

"I'm not lying," Esther whispers. "I can reunite them," Klaus growls searching her eyes. "I'm telling the truth,"

"No," Klaus shakes his head. "You're not. Aaron and Theodore are dead, they've found peace."

"Do you truly believe that the ancestors would allow any child of Claire's to find peace? After everything she and her family has done against them?" Esther asks tilting her head. "Do you truly think a son of Kol could find peace? Claire and Kol have both angered the ancestors beyond repair. No, Klaus, those boys are not at peace," She tells him.

"No!" Klaus shouts regripping Esther's throat. "You're lying!" He snarls.

"Look inside my head," Esther chokes out. "Am I lying?"

"Elijah," Claire whispers laying under the covers in the room at the Plantation. "Come back to bed," She reaches for him. His troubled expression softens. Sleep seemed impossible for him at the moment and he hadn't wanted his restlessness to keep her awake. He had been deep in thought, drinking some bourbon by the window when she finally woke up.

"I love you," Elijah confesses slipping under the covers. Claire instantly curls into him.

"I love you, too," She whispers kissing his chest. "Try and get some sleep," She pleads looking up at him.

"She's dead because of me," Elijah whispers. Claire frowns her eyebrows not catching on. "All this time I thought my mother was the one to kill her but she wasn't... It was me... It was my uncontrollable hunger and my ruthlessness that killed her,"

"Elijah," Claire says moving so her head is closer to his. "Who are you talking about?"

"Tatia," He admits. "I killed her not my mother... it was me," Claire instantly thinks back to the story about how Esther had used Tatia's blood to turn her children into vampires. The revelation was shocking and it was obviously taking a toll on Elijah.

"Elijah, I want you to listen to me, alright?" Claire says caressing the side of his face. His lifts his hand to cover hers as he looks at her desperately. He needed someone to talk to him, some type of grounding. "Tatia's death is not your fault," Elijah opens his mouth but she shushes him. "Listen," She whispers gliding her thumb over his cheek. "You had no idea what you had been turned into. Nobody knew what a vampire was or what they could do. You didn't know. On top of that you had just lost Henrik and you felt so angry at your father and you were confused about what was going on. You know how difficult it is to control your hunger even if you have practice," Claire says thinking back to when Caroline had gone through the transition and how difficult it was and is for her. "Please don't blame yourself. You're emotions were amplified and your bloodlust was in control."

"I don't deserve you," Elijah whispers but Claire shakes you head.

"You deserve so much more then just me," Claire whispers pressing her head on his. "You deserve the world, Elijah. Her death is not your fault. I know you don't believe me but I will say it a million more times if I have to until you believe it yourself," Claire tells him. Elijah smiles at her before flipping her around. She gasps quietly before smiling at him.

"I don't know who put you with me but I'll never let you go," Elijah tells her. "You're the light of my life," He whispers lowering his head to kiss her. Claire smiles weaving her fingers through his hair.

"You need sleep, Elijah," Claire whispers against his lips. Elijah simply hums and kisses down her throat. Claire smiles not bothering to put up much of a fight as she feels her arousal grow. "You're insatiable," She moans as his lips travel down her body.

"Only for you," He growls against her skin. "You're perfect," He whispers to her. Claire moans quietly. Despite knowing Elijah needs rest after the day he's had, the two of them spent the night avoiding sleep and relearning each others bodies. When they finally did fall asleep they slept through most of the morning.

One of the people not sleeping through the morning is Hanna. Right around the break of dawn, Hanna wakes up with a pounding headache. She looks around not recognizing her surroundings.

Climbing out of the bed, she walks out of the room. The more she walks around the more she recognizes where she is. The memories begin to come back to her the longer she's awake.

"You're up early," Henrik notices when Hanna enters the kitchen. "How're you feeling?"

"Better than I have in a while," Hanna admits. "Where's Esther?"

"You don't have to worry about her anymore," Henrik says. "We have her trapped at the abattoir,"

"I never want that to happen again," Hanna sighs sitting at the island.

"You're not the only one," Henrik says handing her a cup of coffee. "What do you remember?"

"Not much," She admits. "But I keep remembering more and more,"

"Anything that we should know about?" Henrik asks.

"I'll let you know when I remember something important," Hanna assures him. "How's Elijah?"

"I reckon he's pretty good right now," Henrik comments knowing exactly what he and Claire have been doing. "What exactly happened to him?"

"I'm not sure exactly... Esther kept saying how he needed to know the truth about someone named Tatia,"

"Tatia?" Henrik asks remembering her from his childhood. "Well, that's interesting," He mutters remembering how both Elijah and Klaus pined over her. The door opening and slamming shut gains both of their attentions.

"Hanna," Klaus says slightly stunned to see her awake.

"Morning," Hanna smiles at him. "You look like you've seen a ghost," She jokes.

"I need to talk to you, privately," Klaus says before leaving the room. Hanna and Henrik share a look.

"I stopped trying to understand him a long time ago," Henrik shrugs. Hanna smiles slightly before following after the hybrid.

"What's wrong?" Hanna asks closing the door behind her. Klaus paces in the private office room. "Klaus?" Hanna asks feeling her motherly instincts come out. "Relax, take a seat," She says pulling the chair from the table.

"When Esther was in your head, what do you remember?" Klaus asks not taking the seat offered.

"Bits and pieces here and there," Hanna shrugs. "I told Henrik I don't remember anything important, not yet at least,"

"Do you remember anything about Aaron and Theodore?" He asks quietly.

"Aaron and Theodore?" Hanna frowns her eyebrows. "Claire's sons?" Klaus slowly nods. "What did Esther say?" She asks tensing.

"A bunch of lies," Klaus says returning to his pacing.

"Klaus, what did she say?" Hanna asks sternly. He sighs and turns back to her.

"She says they never found peace," Hanna slowly shakes her head. "Says that they're still on the other side,"

"No, they were babies," Hanna stressed. "There's no way they didn't find peace," Klaus holds her gaze for a few tense moments.

"Is there any way to be sure?" Klaus asks lowly. "I am not letting Claire anywhere near her unless we know for sure that she's lying or telling the truth,"

"I'll look into it," Hanna says instantly. She turns from him and goes towards the door.

"Hanna, I don't think I need to tell you to keep this from Claire and Kol," Klaus says. She slowly turns towards him. "We need concrete proof before we tell anybody," He says seriously.

"This isn't going to stay quiet for long," Hanna warns him. "If Esther is telling you this to get to Claire, she'll tell anyone who's listening. We won't have much time,"

"I know," Klaus sighs slowly. "We have to be sure, Hanna,"

"I know," Hanna nods. "I'll figure this out, you'll be the first one to know,"

"Thank you," Klaus says and she nods before leaving the house. She knew she couldn't do this alone. So, she set out to collect the coven, minus Claire.

"Mom," Penelope smiles hugging her tightly. Hanna grins holding her daughter just as tight. "I'm so happy you're ok,"

"I have you to thank for that," Hanna whispers. The two pulled away allowing Hanna to hug both of her sons. "Come here, you two," Hanna says hugging both Kai and Kaleb. "You're family," She whispers to the both of them. Kai frowns his eyebrows feeling mixed emotions but hugs Hanna tighter. When they pulled away Kai goes back to Penny who hugs him tightly. He smiles kissing the top of her head.

"Shouldn't you be resting?" Bonnie asks as Hanna leads everyone to what Kai jokingly calls the Throne Room.

"I'm fine, I promise," Hanna assures her. "What I have for you all is important and it's going to take all of us," She says sitting at the head of the oval table. Penelope and Asher sit on her left and right. Rebekah decided to stay in the abattoir to watch over Esther and make sure no one tried to set her free. Beside Asher is his brother Archie and Kaleb. Kai, Davina and Bonnie sit on Penelope's side.

"Shouldn't we get Claire?" Asher asks wondering why she isn't apart of this meeting.

"No, let her rest with Elijah," Hanna shakes her head. "Besides, this is about Claire,"

"We're not mutinying against her, are we?" Kai asks giddily. Penelope instantly slaps him upside the head knowing it was a serious question for him.

"No, we're not mutinying against her," Hanna shakes her head with a small smile. "Klaus came to me not long ago with some... information,"

"Information?" Bonnie asks shifting in her seat.

"Klaus?" Davina asks. "He was with Esther all night," She tells them. "This have to do with her?"

"Esther told Klaus that there's a way to bring Aaron and Theodore back," Hanna tells them.

"What?" Bonnie asks instantly. Her mind goes back to when Claire lost Aaron and then Theodore not long after. She remembers them both and the heartbreak Claire went through.

"But they found peace," Penelope says.

"We have to know for sure," Hanna says. "Claire is going to face Esther eventually and we need to know for sure if what she's saying is true... If Esther catches her off guard with this,"

"It's gonna get ugly," Asher adds and Hanna nods.

"She'll lose her mind," Penelope tells her brother. "And lets not forget who Theo's father is," She reminds them. "I love Kol as much as the next person but let's not forget what happened when he lost Theo. He destroyed, murdered an entire town. If Esther brings this back up. If she gives them hope only to rip it away, Claire and Kol are going to destroy New Orleans and everyone inside,"

"Which is why we need to find out if Aaron and Theo are really on the other side," Hanna stresses.

"And how are we going to do that?" Archie asks. "We were able to bring Kol and Henrik back because they were tethered to Claire. We knew where they were, we were able to contact them. We don't know where the boys are or if they're even on the Other Side."

"And it's not like getting Kol and Henrik back was easy," Penelope adds and Bonnie scoffs remembering being involved in the process of bringing both of them back.

"If we could find a spell to see or visit the other side, it would be easier to look," Kaleb says.

"We need to see the other side," Bonnie whispers. "I might know a guy,"
