Mia

I woke up with fur all over my face and I knew it was Shvan.

"Shvan, please move." I groaned and tried pushing him away but he didn't care so I just left it, inhaling his fur. He smelled like blueberries. I looked up and saw Aryan sleeping soundly next to me with Toffee licking his face. I turned my head to the left and saw the time on the clock, it read 11.20 a.m. Oh my god Aryan's shift started 20 minutes ago and he was sleeping without a care in the world.

"Aryan, love you have to wake up. You are so late for work." I tried pushing him and he didn't wake up.

I got Shvan to move away from me and sat up on my knees and shook him harder. I was so tempted to even slap him but he was in such a deep sleep all he did was swat my hand away and hug Toffee harder.

"Fucks sake." I hit his arm really hard and only then he fluttered his eyes open.

"Whatttt?. Let me sleep. I have an early shift tomorrow." He grumbled and turned around.

"It's already tomorrow and you are late for your shift, dumbass."

He opened his eyes again and stared at the clock.

"Shit, fuck. I am so late." He jumped out of the bed and ran towards the bathroom and I just laughed at him.

10 minutes later he came out running from the bathroom with just a towel around his waist and rummaged through my cupboard for his new scrubs and it was just so entertaining to watch. I have never seen Aryan go to work late before. He was always so punctual so this was pretty fun to watch.

"Stop laughing at me. I'm going to be in so much trouble." He was hopping on one leg trying to put on his pants.

"I can't help it, you look like a one legged pirate hopping around like that." I pointed and laughed at him harder.

"My career is on the line and you are laughing at me." Aryan gave me an annoyed look.

"Your career is not on the line, sweetheart. You didn't commit a huge mistake, you are just late and besides you could just say you had an early morning emergency to deal with."

"I'm going to get fired." He panicked.

I rolled my eyes and walked up to him and pulled him in for a long hard kiss.

"Let's see who tries to fire Mia Varenna Young's boyfriend. I will fight them." I said in a husky tone and he grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him and planted a kiss on my neck and ran out fast.

This late and chaotic Aryan was pretty cute too. I was about to take a shower when I heard someone's phone ring. It was Aryan's. Damn he forgot his phone. I guess I will just go and give it to him later.

I was in the kitchen having my breakfast when I got a call from my dad.

Darian : Mia, can you come into the office today?

Mia : Yeah sure, anything important?

Darian : Yes I just need your signature on some of the financial documents.

Mia : Okay I will be there shortly.

Darian : Great, see you then.

I finished my breakfast and grabbed my jacket from my room and left for the office. I reached the building in 15 minutes and went straight up to my dad's room. Karan, my dad and Alana instantly looked up when I walked in.

"Good Afternoon, Ms.Young."Karan greeted me.

"Good Afternoon, Karan."

I sat down and Karan immediately pointed to me on the places I needed to sign.

"Alana, can you make reservations for me, Shreya and Ravina at Davino's for dinner today?"

"Sure, sir."

"Davino's why?" I questioned my dad.

"You mother is always panicking about you at home so I thought of bringing her out and also Ravina scored pretty well on her exams. We are going to celebrate that."

"You never..... Sounds great." I was happy for Ravina but pretty upset because I never got that type of treatment from my dad even though I too scored well in my exams back then.

Ravina was indeed the golden child in this house simply because she was the youngest. Whatever she wanted, my parents always got it for her. They never behaved that way with me when I was her age or any age for the matter because they were either too busy fighting with each or staying away from each other to give two flying fucks about me. My parents's relationship has come a long way. Back then Darian and Shreya hated each other and fought like cats and dogs. My mom hated how my dad chose work over family everytime and she even contemplated divorcing him but decided against it at the last minute.

I silently wondered how my relationship with Aryan would be like considering how we both did have conflicting schedules. I mean I could always give in but would he also do the same for me every now and then? Or will he choose his career over me? I hope we don't grow apart and lose ourselves in the process.  Love and effort goes hand in hand and without one another, the relationship would only crumble and fall. I would unquestionably fight for him, but would he also do the same?.

Aryan's phone ringing in my bag brought me out of my thoughts. Shoot his phone, I completely forgot about it. I got to get this to him quickly.

"Dad, if that is all. Can I leave?"

"Yeah sure. Carry on with your day." He continued discussing something with Alana and Karan again.

I quickly left his room and dashed out of the office and had Raymond drive to the hospital fast. I entered into the familiar lobby of the hospital and walked up to the nurse lady standing behind a messy desk.

"Hi, my name is Mia. I just came to pass Doctor Aryan's phone to him."

"Just a second dear, I will call him right now." Nurse Julia said.

A few minutes later, Aryan walked in and I decided to tease him.

"I see you are still working in this hospital. Guess you are not fired yet?"

"Very funny fiore, I bet that would make you really happy?" He shook his head at me.

"No Aryan, that would only mean you would be jobless at home and you would follow me around everywhere and irritate me further. So I'm pleased to know you still have your job."

"Why are you here my love?" He was confused at my sudden visit to the hospital.

"You left your phone at home cutie." I passed him his phone.

"Crap I didn't even realise. Thank you fiore." He placed his hand on my cheeks.

"Now if you will excuse me. I have to go to the gym to workout."

"Don't let me hold you up then." He placed both his hands up and I grinned at him.

"Let me walk you out." He offered me his arm and I happily took it.

We walked out of the lobby and into the driveway where my bodyguard was waiting in front of my car with a stern look on his face. Man was probably 6 '7 feet tall and I looked like a tiny little mouse compared to him.

"This is where I bid you farewell, my Queen." Aryan pulled down his mask and kissed my hand.

"Farewell my knight in shining scrubs."

It only took me a few seconds to realise what was happening. One minute, I was busy admiring Aryan smiling at me and the next second, I saw a black car drive really fast into the driveway, wind down the window, pull out a gun and aimed at Aryan. They were going to shoot him and I had to do something fast. I didn't even think at that moment, I shoved him away really hard and I heard the gun go off with a loud bang. I screamed and felt a sharp pain on my right shoulder and I fell really hard on the ground. My surroundings slowly turned blurry and the last thing I saw was Aryan's face before I closed my eyes and succumbed into the darkness.
