Colt didn't realise he had fallen asleep until he was woken up by singing. When it stopped, he opened one eye to find the source of it staring at him with hard eyes, her head titled. He felt like an animal being watched by prey. It sent a shiver down his spine. Her eyes bore into him. He stared right back.
"Are you afraid of me?"
"No."
Her eyes narrowed at his response.
"Was that an Earth song?" he asked.
"Yes," Amneris answered, voice soft.
Colt eyed her closely as she stretched out over the makeshift bed. "How are you feeling?"
"Oh, fine." She rested her head on her arms, seemingly content. "The headache is gone."
"Good."
How long had he been asleep? Colt checked his watch. It had almost been three hours. Almost time to give her the next dose of antidote, but not quite there yet. Now all he had to do was figure out how to get it into her. Preferably before she jumped him.
"What are you thinking?"
"Nothing that need concern you, dear Tali."
Amneris rolled onto her back, though he didn't miss her smile before she did. "You're a horrid liar, Sn'da."
Colt felt his eye twitch. "I thought you didn't call me that anymore."
"I surprise even myself at times." She raised a hand, frowning when no sparks flew from her fingertips. "So that's the purpose of this room." Amneris rolled onto her stomach, eyeing one of the cameras as she spoke to the onlookers. "You really think this room will hold me when it needs to most?"
"Leave them be," Colt said as he stood. His legs were aching from staying still for too long. The room was large enough for him to walk it off while keeping watch of the female in his care.
Despite what Kayla said, Colt couldn't help but wonder if the antidote had already worked. Amneris seemed back to normal. He glanced toward a different camera, looking away just as fast. No, there was no way it was that easy. Was there?
Amneris was watching him, her head following as he paced. He stopped. "What are you doing?"
"Watching you."
"Why?"
"I like watching you." She smirked. "Among other things."
"Other things?" He internally chided himself for saying that out loud.
She grinned. "You know I like to play."
He choked. Oh, this was a bad idea. "I'm not going to play with you."
She pouted.
Colt flinched. "I'm not going to play with you."
"Why not?"
"You are sick."
Amneris snorted. "Pretty sure I'm not."
"You. Are. Sick."
One second, she was sitting on her bed. The next, she had him pinned to the ground, sitting on his waist. He tried to push her off only to find her hands on his wrists. Why can that damned crystal not get rid of her strength?
He sighed, deciding there was only one way to get out of his current position. "My answer is still no."
She frowned. "Why won't you let me have any fun?"
"I already told you. You're unwell."
"I think I'd know if I was unwell," she said, kissing his neck.
"One would assume that," Colt muttered to himself. "Tali, I need you to stop."
"Why?"
Instead of answering this time, Colt wrapped a strand of power around Amneris' waist, hooking it over another strand he used to make a hook. She took no notice. He tugged on the strand. She yelped, being pulled into the air.
He readjusted his clothing once he was standing. "Sorry, Tali," he said as he picked up the jar and one of the needles Kayla had given him.
"Sorry!" she exclaimed. "Why are you doing this to me?"
Colt used the needle to extract some of the antidote. "Because you hate needles and there is no way you would let me do this without a fight."
"Do wha-" She cut herself off. "Did you just say needles?"
"That I did."
"You're not putting whatever that shit is into me," Amneris growled, holding her arms against her chest.
He glanced toward her over his shoulder. "You can either let me do this, or I will have to restrain you even more than I already have."
"You haven't restrained me."
Colt looked over his girlfriend struggling against his power. "Sure, I haven't." The jar was placed on the ground. Needle in hand, he stepped closer. "I thought you liked it when I restrained you."
She roared in his face. He didn't so much as flinch.
"Tali, you need to let me do this."
"I am your Queen," Amneris growled, "and I order you to release me."
"No."
"What?"
"No."
Before she could react, Colt grabbed her arm. She tried to pull free but his power held her in place. It took a few tries, but he managed to jab the needle into her arm, push the antidote into her, and pull the needle out. He put it to the side before wrapping his arms around Amneris' waist. Colt released his power and she dropped into his arms.
With effort, he managed to carry her back to the makeshift bed. He held her against him as he lay on it, pulling the blanket kindly sent in by Kayla over them. Colt kissed the back of his girlfriend's head. "That wasn't so bad, was it?"
Amneris didn't answer. Instead, she stopped struggling against him.
"You have to let me - us - help you," he murmured. "Please." He stroked down her side. "Once you are better, you can leave this room. But, until then, you need to stay here."
"Will there be more needles?" she asked quietly.
"Once every three hours," he told her.
"No promises."
That was the best answer he would get and he knew it.
