*Kendrick Pov*

I paced around the library and ruffled my hair more thinking about what happened just now. This is what that should happen and not a thing can change this.

"Kendrick! Our warriors are waiting for your order to go on a war on Kingdom of Velimar." I heard Uncle's voice when he entered the Library.

"We need to take some more time before doing that Uncle." I said glancing at him.

"But you have told me if I send back King Albert and his Daughter back safely then we will cry a war on them as it will be justice to do it in that way." Uncle said accusing me.

"I know what I have uttered Uncle. But still we need to take some more time as there are other pressuring matters." I said not liking his accusing tone.

"Did you saw their faces when she asked about my father?" I suddenly questioned him.

"Yes! What is there to see?" He questioned me back.

"There was something missing don't you think." I replied shaking my head and he shook his head looking at me with blank expression.

"Oh! I forgot to say that Bess wanted to meet you in few minutes." He said smiling.

"I will go and meet her now itself." Saying that I walked towards her favorite room.

Knocking on the door I waited for her to open it. When she opened it she has a smile on her face.

"I am happy that you came to meet me Kendrick. Come inside!" She said and I went inside nodding.

"I thought of coming here before only but I have got some other matters to attend." I said and she nodded understanding still smiling.

*Melody Pov*

"Melody! It's been few days please say something." Amy pleaded me again.

What is there to even say? Even after hearing and watching everything with my consciousness, I thought he will come here saying it was all nothing but some jest.

He didn't! If he had started his travelling even after few days he could have reached here easily.

I couldn't even eat feeling nothing but uneasiness everywhere. I looked at Amy to see that she is terrified for me.

When we heard a knock on my door, Amy went and opened it to see some guard standing there.

They whispered for few seconds and Amy immediately rushed near me saying "We need to go Princess."

"Where?" I asked in whisper not having any strength.

"Agnes! Agnes is not faring well Princess." Amy said like she too couldn't believe it.

I immediately got onto my legs and rushed outside with Amy trailing behind me. In no time we entered the Maid's quarters.

I trembled before opening the door of Agnes room and felt weak in my knees seeing the condition Agnes is in.

I slowly walked towards her feeling guilt and shame for even wallowing in self pain and forgetting about her fully.

"I am so sorry Agnes!" I said placing my hand on her forehead.

"Melody! Melody is that you dear." She said in weak voice opening her eyes.

"Agnes! I am so sorry. I should have known about you before itself." I said looking at her weak smile on her face.

"Melody dear! You are just like your Mother and never forget that. I am old dear. I am meant to leave this world." She said holding my hand.

"No! No you can't leave me Agnes. I will be all alone." I shouted at her in horror.

"You know I need to leave the world right Melody. I know that is going to happen." She said sadly.

"Please don't leave me Agnes. I can't live without you please." I pleaded her.

"Promise me dear! Promise me that you will take care of yourself. Otherwise your Mother will not forgive me when I meet her up there." She said looking at me.

"I.. I promise Agnes. But if you stay then you can take care of me by yourself." I pleaded her again with tears flowing from my eyes.

"Your Mother always used to say I am like her mother. Maybe because of my age I guess but I had the opportunity to become mother even to you. I am so lucky am not I for being a mother to two wonderful women." She said smiling.

"You are best mother to both of us. And I am sure my Mother would agree more than me." I said smiling.

"I will not be in pain anymore Melody. Let me go dear. I can't go in peace if I know that you are in pain." She pleaded.

"I will be strong enough to come over everything Agnes but..." I couldn't finish and just laid my head on her hand crying slowly.

After sometime her soul slowly slipped away from her body. I closed her eyes and cried my heart out holding her.

My birth Mother was already taken away from me and even my Agnes is taken away from me too.

When it was time for her funeral, I brought myself together and did all the arrangements with my own hands. Amy stood as my strength all the time controlling her own pain. Agnes was like a mother to her too.

After the funeral I laid myself on my bed and thought what to even do now. And thought about what all that had happened that day.

Then with a jolt I remembered Juan calling me. Where is he then? Why didn't he meet me? Did he stay back at his Kingdom?

"Amy! Where is Juan?" I asked her when she walked inside.

"Why do you want to know about him Melody?" She asked with a frown and anger evident on her face.

"Just tell me Amy." I asked her.

"He is in a prison." She slowly uttered.

"A what?" I asked her shocked.

"He is in underground prison and it is King's order to kill him slowly." She replied and I can clearly see the pain in her eyes.

"How?" I asked her.

"By not giving him food and a good measure of beatings." She replied closing her eyes.

"Amy! I want you to take some food and this paste to Juan." I said preparing the paste for the wounds he must have occurred.

"What? No! King would kill me in a flash." She said terrified.

"I will go and talk to my Father now. But you need to go to Juan immediately." I ordered her and walked outside my chamber to go to the council room.

When I went inside the entire council got surrounded by silence. I sat on my throne and glanced at everyone.

"I want Juan to be not tortured." I said out loud.

"Are you on your wits ending Princess? He needs to be punished." My Father barked at me.

"I want answers your highness and I need to get them from him. So I want torturing should be stopped on Juan." I said looking at everyone.

"This all must be their plan from the first. To marry our Princess and leave her like this. This is done for nothing but to insult us." One of the members said.

"They will pay for this insult." My Father said in determining tone.

"All I need is one week your highness." I said ignoring their words.

"You have it then but after that we will continue this." He said and I nodded at him.

I left the council and entered my chamber. So this was nothing but an insult to them? Then what about me?

I am sure no one will have the answer....

*Juan Pov*

"What are you doing here?" I asked looking at the person standing infront of me.

"Have this food and apply this paste on your wounds." That's all she replied forwarding the plate.

"I can't reach them." I said showing the bars.

She asked one guard to unlock my cell and entered it. Placing the food on the slab along with the paste she started moving away.

"You have my gratitude." I said before she left the cell.

"This is not my doing. It is the order of Princess Melody." She said looking at me with anger.

"How is she?" I asked her concernedly.

"Devastated!" that's all she replied.

I walked towards the food and was about to pick the food but I couldn't do it with my wound hands. Then I heard a sigh and she walked towards me gesturing me to sit.

She took the plate and started feeding me one bite after the other. I just continued to look at her all the time.

After that she washed her hands and gestured me to remove my shreds of clothes which were torn unbelievably.

Then she slowly started applying the paste and I hissed with coldness of the paste. She blew all over my wounds while applying it.

"Does it hurt?" She asked after few seconds.

"Not much than the anger on your face directed towards me." I replied honestly.

"What shall I do Juan? Melody is hurt there and this is all because of your friend doing. And you without solving it just walked to us and fell into these people holds. Now who will solve all this?" She asked me completely shaken.

I held her in my hands carefully not stressing my wounds and said "It was my duty to come back near Melody. I was ordered."

"Is it much more important duty than solving her pain?" She asked making me stun.

"Today early morning Agnes died. She is even more devastated." She added.

"Agnes is no more?" I asked her in shock and she shook her head.

"I need to leave! And Melody said she will talk to his highness. So I think there is no danger for you." She said and left my cell.

After sometime some guard walked towards me and said "You are lucky that you are escaping this torture for one week but after that no one can save you."

I realized that it is all Melody's doing. I am her protector but now she is the one who protected me.

Kendrick! I really hope you work out all you reasons and come here and that too soon very soon.
