Innocent Voice and Heart

At the balcony, Ai leaned his back against the railings as he looked up the dark blue sky. He wondered about these strange feelings he has been experiencing ever since Fuyumi arrived to the Master Course. His cyan eyes stared straight ahead to the sky. A lot of stars shone tonight as it twinkled brightly in his vision. Closing his eyes and placing his hand over his chest, he took a deep breath and opened his mouth.

"Lala la~"

Out of the corner, Fuyumi was watching behind a potted plant. She blinked as she listened to the bluenette sing.

"His voice... Is so soft...."

"La lala..."

"... So innocent..."

Fuyumi was too engulfed with the song that she didn't even realized she was definitely staring at the bluenette with admiration. Ai stopped as he looked at the potted plant with a stare.

"I know you're there, Yukimura Fuyumi. There's no use hiding." Ai called out with a deadpan face as he waited for the said composer to come out. Fuyumi didn't budge so she just stayed there not moving, waiting for Ai to shrug it off. But alas, Ai wasn't going to do what the other thought. "Don't make me go there and drag you out." He said coldly as he narrowed his eyes with irritation.

The sound of the leaves rustling came as Fuyumi stepped out behind the potted plant with a nervous face. She came up with a reason for being there as she stuttered it out a bit. "Uhm... H-Hey Mikaze-senpai... I-I was just... Getting some fresh air...!" Fuyumi let out a nervous laugh as a bead of sweat rolled down her cheek.

Ai stared at her before scoffing and looking away.

Fuyumi twitched as she composed herself into not exploding at the bluenette. Ai sighed before going back looking up the stars. Fuyumi blinked at him and expected him to question why she was here and what she was doing here but unfortunately, the other didn't do it.

The composer approached him as she stood beside him and leaned against the railing as well. Ai simply glanced at her for a moment before turning back to his stargazing moment. Fuyumi looked up to the sky and stared at the band of stars across the night sky. A huge silence engulfed between them as the two unknowingly started stargazing together.

Meanwhile, Ai started getting a bit uncomfortable which was kind of unusual for him to feel. He was only feeling it now. Was it because Fuyumi was here beside him? He glanced at his companion and decided to try and shrug of the feeling as he voiced out his thoughts from this morning.

"Why were you watching us?" He questioned as his eyes met the other's. Fuyumi stayed quiet then smiled at him. Ai blinked at her before he felt his face heating up a bit as he looked away and started pondering why was his face heating up all of the sudden. His data doesn't say what kind of phenomenon he was encountering right now. "The way she smiled... It's..."

"It's a secret, Mikaze-senpai." Fuyumi replied playfully as she pulled out her index finger in front of her lips. "It's for me to know and for you to find out~"

Ai looked at her as he stared at her. "You're weird..."

Fuyumi smiled at him again which Ai returned with a pink hue spreading over his cheeks. The bluenette looked away. "A-Anyways... I would advice you not to do it again for it is very uncomfortable to the others especially me."

"It's only for this one time, to tell you the truth." Fuyumi replied as he lifted herself up and sat on the railing while swinging her legs back and forth in a alternating manner. "After this, I'll be able to finish what I'm trying to do in the mean time."

Ai looked at her weirdly again as he sighed.

"You're hard to understand..."

Another awkward silence sounded as the two of them kept glancing at one another. Fuyumi turned her head to Ai and asked, "What was that song you were humming a while ago, Mikaze-senpai?"

"... Winter Blossom." He replied not looking at her while Fuyumi seemed interested in the song.

"That's a nice name for a song. Did you come up with it? Did you compose it yourself?" Fuyumi bombed him with questions as Ai twitched in annoyance by this. He looked at her with a small glare that made her shut up. Ai sighed as he stood up straight, removing himself from the railings. He started walking away. At this point, Ai didn't notice a small puddle he was going to step on. Fuyumi got off the railing and started jogging towards Ai.

The bluenette slipped which surprised him a bit and waited for the impact on the cold hard floor. He landed on something soft that he expected it to be a hard a painful one. He was shuffled a little to the side. Opening his eyes a bit, he saw Fuyumi looking down at him worriedly. He blinked.

"Are you alright, Mikaze-senpai?" Ai nodded slowly as he stared at her again.

"Why...?"

"Eh?"

"Why did you... save me?" He asked.

"Even if you're cold and blunt... I can't help but save you from falling. Plus that would hurt, won't it?"

"... Not really. There's no point in you saving me." Ai said as he sat up because he realized his head was on her lap which flustered him a bit. He accidentally bumped his forehead against her. Fuyumi flinched and backed up, rubbing her forehead. The bluenette felt alarmed as he looked at her, trying to come up to say something. He was seriously wondering what he was thinking right now. Was there something wrong in his system?

Fuyumi noticed his distressed state and waved it off on him. "I-I'm fine, Mikaze-senpai..." She reassured him with a small smile.

Ai nodded slowly as he stood up and dusted off his clothes. He needed to talk to Reiji about this. Ai walked away before glancing at Fuyumi as he eyed her with a small smile forming on his lips. Fuyumi noticed this and smiled back at him.

"I want to see that smile often for some reason..." Ai thought as he looked away and started walking out of the balcony and through the hallways. Turning from right to left then straight, he stopped in front of the door as he silently knocked on it.

"Reiji, can I speak with you?"

Fuyumi walked in the hallways towards her temporary room. She would stay there for a while since if she didn't complete the assignment, she'll be leaving instead. She took out her notepad and started writing down.

"Mikaze Ai - Cold and blunt but actually caring. He has an innocent voice... And somewhat an innocent heart..."

Fuyumi opened the door  and walked inside as she closed it behind her. She approached her keyboard and took out her composition notebook and her notepad placing it on the rack.

"Alright. Let's start composing~!"
