Chapter 47 | Clearing the Board
Kiapolo struggled to get back to his feet, wiping the blood from his mouth. "You've never killed me in the past, but I know, it's different now." He panted, "I have to say, Ash, if there was anyone I wouldn't be ashamed to say was my end, it's you. You're a worthy opponent."
Her familiars were unconscious on the beach around them. The fight had gotten close, but in the end, fire will always vanquish the weak. Overhead, shadow creatures were rushing towards the manor. They'd been trying to get in for awhile now but somehow the hunters kept them at bay.
"I won't kill you. I don't spill blood on my own hands." She said, "The shadows trying to get into the mansion, who's controlling them?"
He chuckled, "Who isn't? Our power is a hive mind." As he glanced up, some of the soldiers suddenly vanished, "And it looks like one of our own was just taken down."
"So, you're saying with each member of the legion that falls, the weaker the shadow army becomes?" She asked.
"Precisely. Another reason for you to kill me." He muttered. Kiapolo wasn't scared of death, but he was upset to see his time come to an end. He'd hoped to accomplish more than this by the time he was killed.
"You're a very strong wizard, Kiapolo. I can see you have a heart too. So, I don't understand why you'd join Tesla. You could've done much better things with your power." Ashley responded.
He lowered his head, collapsing to his knees. "I have no home. My own people changed their beliefs and they cast me out because they didn't want me anymore. He gave me a place to sleep, and food, and clothes. He gave me companionship, something I never got in the ocean."
"We can give you that too, and we won't force you to hurt people you don't want to hurt. We aren't just soldiers. We're a family. I can see it in your eyes, you aren't as evil as the rest of them." She offered her hand out to him, "Please, let us give you a home. You and I could do great things together."
His eyes dwelled on her offer for a moment. She sounded so genuine. He glanced back at the creatures unconscious behind her. They fought so hard to protect her. Kiapolo couldn't help himself from thinking that his comrades would never do such an act for him. More of the shadows overhead dissipated as he grabbed her hand.

Beau left his sword stuck in Alda's body. He figured her blood was too disgusting to bother spilling more of it. From here, he could spell it. An angel's blood had never spelled so revolting to him. He was a little beaten up but it'd all heal with time. At least he took down the wench once and for all. He didn't even close her eyes for her. She deserved to see her own death.
He shuffled towards one of the side halls, where Drake had just finished off Micah. It wasn't easy to fight against his skill while keeping London and Ghost's rage at bay. They, along with Joy and Friday, fell eventually. The demon's strength and high intelligence was hard to combat. Beau leaned against the wall, observing Drake. If there was anyone who could match his mental skill, that would be it.
"You've defeated them." He said, "But tell me, did you really win?"
Friday crawled over to Micah with tears in her eyes. She pushed down on his chest, muttering, "Wake up. Please, wake up. Please." She begged and sniffled. The little vampire leaned over him, resting her head on his chest. "You can't go. You're my teddy bear. Please, I need you. Please, wake up, please..."
"Friday was born in Hanover, Germany during the great depression. She was actually born male. When she was only three her parents sold her on the black market for the money. She was bought by an extremely cruel man who starved and beat her. Starting from the time she was five, he dressed her as a girl and forced her to have sex with men for money. When she was fifteen, she was resold to a vampire that turned her and abused her even more.
Perhaps a good thing that came out of the war was she was able to finally escape her captor, but then she was forced onto the street, until a bounty hunter found her. He turned her over to us, but she was so terrified of everyone. For some reason, she just trusted Micah. He's taken care of her as if she was his own daughter ever since."
Drake kept his back turned to the crow. His voice shook, "Why are you telling me all of this?"
"I can tell it upsets you." Beau responded, "If you knew the story behind all your victims and the people that loved them, do you think you'd still hurt them?"
"I- I-" He tightened his fists, "I must, or else... My father will disown me. I cannot disappoint him."
"People like Alda, your father, and Apollo, there is no turning back for them. But you, son, you have the option to change your path. Any father that would disown his son because he wouldn't raise his fist is no father at all. Please, take Friday as an example that just because you share DNA with someone, it doesn't mean you must love them. You don't see her worrying about her bastard parents. She's worrying more about the person who's actually cared for her."
The demon felt his knees buckle under. He fell to the ground, feeling his eyes water. "I'm sorry. I was... I was just following orders, I-"
Beau gently set his hand on Drake's shoulders, "They only see you as a soldier. Here, we see each other as family. Many of us have dark pasts. The two creatures fighting your father right now, they've probably claimed more lives than any living being, but they had the will to change. You do too. If you want to become something better than a weapon that follows orders, there is no better place for starting over than Qrow Manor."
Sobs racked his back. "I'm sorry for what I have done... Though I know this will not make it right, please believe me when I tell you that Colton will betray you. The witch, the fair skinned one, will too."
"Of course," He sighed, "There has never been a war fought without betrayal. I do not consider it a bad thing, though. It helps us to discover the true allies of both our allies and our enemies. The others can handle those two just fine. I need to go help Asher and Dusk. If Jarin reaches the armory, it'll be very bad for all of us."
Ghost groaned, just barely staying conscious. He grabbed Beau by his ankle to stop him a moment. "I know how to stop him. Combining a crow's blood with vampire venom makes a toxin so deadly to demons that just one pick will kill them."
"How do you know?" He questioned.
"It's how Chris killed Carmella Orlando." He turned over his wrist to expose where his veins were turned a glowing purple, "The venom's strongest when you take it from the injection sight. Mine is in my wrist. Ricky's venom is strong, too. Trust me."
At this point, they were running low on options anyways. Beau walked over to the medical supply closet in the hall and pulled two needles from it. He knelt down beside the vixen and quickly took a generous amount of venom. It would regenerate eventually. Much like a demon's branding, vampire venom can never be removed. He used the other needle to draw blood from himself. Then, with some medical tape, he secured the two needles together.

Alarm washed over those inside the armory when they heard a body crash against the door. It was only Ripper, who really didn't have much of a chance in the fight in the first place. The two powerhouses were still in play. Still, Jarin had now defeated Ripper and Cecil both already. It was concerning as to how strong he really was.
"I know you don't want me to fight," Kitty spoke as she stood up, "But I can't sit by while they harm my husband."
Shae sighed, "I cannot stop you, but please, Princess, be careful."
"Don't worry about me. No matter how much power a demon has, they will always be inferior to sunlight." She tightened her fist just thinking about the fact that anyone has the audacity to hurt her beloved Cecil. The fairy angrily marched towards the door, "I won't hurt the others. My magic only hurts the people I want it to."
"I didn't know there was such a thing." Paris mumbled.
"Yes," Emerson responded, "It's a type of magic fairies created, born from their peace keeping nature. Even so, it takes very strong fairies to be able to case it. If there was any fairy who I had confidence could do it, it'd be her."
A veil of magic consumed her like a flame. Her simple pink dress turned into an outfit fit for royalty. The short skirt wrapped around her thin hips was a shining gold, puffed out by a sparkling blue petticoat. A tight crop top of the same colors covered her chest. Gold chains wrapped around her with waist with charms of the sun and moon hanging off of them. How else would you expect a celestial fairy princess to look?
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Shae said.
Kitty cast a spell on the door that turned it into a moon portal. This way, she could pass through without undoing the locks. She couldn't do anything that could compromise her allies. As she stepped out of the other side, she was forced to jump over Ripper's unconscious body. She sighed to see Cecil thrown carelessly onto the ground nearby.
The fairy was forced to fly up when Dusk's body flew towards her. She was finally knocked out, by the hands of a traitor. In any other situation, Joan would've never have been able to beat a witch so powerful. However, Jarin had weakened her too much. Never in a thousand years did Kitty think she'd have to fight alongside a demon, let alone one such as Asher, but it seemed she had no choice.
"Please, use the last of your strength to move them out of the way. I'll take care of this." She instructed the injured incubus.
When he saw her wings, he wanted to object. Then, he took a moment to peer in her mind and see she wasn't an ordinary fairy. Asher nodded and teleported away from the fight. He grabbed Dusk first, taking her to a safer place. While he focused on the fallen, she turned her attention to those that needed to be knocked down a few pegs.
"Do you honestly think you stand a chance against a witch?" Joan snapped.
"Shut your damn mouth." Jarin replied, much to their shock, "Do you have any idea who that is? What the Hell would someone as pure as you be doing here?"
Kitty landed on her bare feet for a moment. She knelt down at Cecil's side and placed a quick kiss on his lips. "Pure?" She questioned with humor, "I haven't been pure in a long time thanks to my husband."
Cecil laughed tiredly, "Knock 'em dead, Baby Girl. Do me proud."
She smiled and fluttered back up in the air. "You heard him. And I don't ever disappoint my Daddy." She spoke in a sugary baby voice, following it up with a little giggle.
Kitty started to fly around them until she pushed them against each other. Beneath them, blue magic began to sparkle like the stars in the sky. On the ceiling, yellow dust that glowed like sunlight sprinkled down.
"What the Hell is she doing?!" Joan yelled.
He didn't even have time to answer. Instead, shouting, "Cover your eyes!"
The moonlight and sunlight met in harmony. They shined so bright, you'd think the Heavens were exploding. Even though they didn't hurt anyone other than those two, it was blinding. Beau raised his arm over his eyes, hissing. He managed to removed as soon as he spell faded. The witch collapsed to the ground without an ounce of energy left in her.
Jarin was still managing to hold on, somehow. He couldn't even lift a finger but he was still awake. They'd been drained of any of their power. Light will always destroy darkness; Always. It is one of the absolutes in life. Beau took the two needles in his hand and jammed them in the demon's neck. As the concoction filled his veins, he screamed in horrid pain. His skin began to melt from the bone.
"Ghost wasn't lying when he said that'd be effective." He said, "Joan took out everyone in the main ward. Alexander, Casper, Kettil, Knox, even Marci, they're all unconscious."
She gasped in shock, "Marci..."
"Don't worry. She'll wake up in time. Everyone else in the legion is down expect for Tesla and Apollo. The others will be able to take them. We need to start worrying about the wounded." He replied. Beau grasped his side with a groan. He nearly fell into the wall.
"You're not well yourself."
He sighed, looking at the two vampires on the ground, "I'm still better than they are."
Kitty couldn't argue with that. With Jarin, Alda, and Lumi now dead, Joan defeated, and Kiapolo and Drake turned, they were able to see an end to this. On the other hand, they had so many on their own side that were too weak to be of use anymore. Pawns had fallen, yes, but the most important had yet to rise.
