Chapter 34 | Dozing Green
A/N: So, BK's weapon is basically Crescent Rose (Ruby's weapon) from RWBY. If you don't watch that show, honestly why not? It's amazing, but here's a gif of it in action:
Also, here's a super amazing drawing of Croc that dxvilsnight did that I'm still so in love with <3

They must've walked down five to six levels to reach the bottom of the dungeon. Each layer seemed different. They gave off the essence of secrets and evil. Stepping into the sewer, they were surprised how it smelled more like a swamp than waste. They walked over wooden boards, some of which were half sunken in the waters.
"Place like this is pretty fitting for him, honestly." Ricky muttered, examining the cracked walls.
"Yeah, but do you really think Mike's going to want to live down here too?" Ghost wondered aloud.
"Hm, Babe, he used the live in the Valley. It's probably like being home for him, except less crowded." He replied.
"Jasper, I can't help but notice, you prefer your guard dogs to have been from the hardest neighbors possible." Ryan commented, "I mean, they all came from Black Valley, and now you've got two Cajuns."
Micah glanced over his shoulder at his boss, "You didn't happen to mention he was Cajun."
"I didn't know myself, though it explains why he talks like a thief. No offense."
"None taken. I believe my amour* was right when he referred to my kind as heathens." He jumped from the wood platforms over the water to the concrete off to the side. Micah placed the torch in his hand into a place holder on the wall. He helped Friday over easily. Then, offering his hand to Marci, "Ladies first."
"I've got it myself, thank you." She replied ever so cheerfully and hopped over with ease.
He turned his attention over to Ghost, "Ma dame*?"
Taking the aid's hand delicately, he allowed Micah to help him over the gap. Ghost nearly fell into him. Bashfully, he took a step back, "Sorry. Thank you for the hand."
"Just doing my job." He replied.
Micah picked up the torch from the wall. He expected the men to get themselves over without help by themselves, which they did. His chivalry only extended to submissives. He led them through a dark hallway, setting the torch down for good.
"You're such a slut." Ricky muttered in Ghost's ear.
"Can you blame me?" He swooned, "I mean, c'mon, Babe. He's easily over six foot and with an accent like that. Ugh, and those arms and abs. Wouldn't you love to watch him dominate me?"
Jasper chuckled, "I'm afraid his heart is solely dedicated to one person."
The color drained from Ghost's face, "Do you hear everything?!"
"As a matter of fact, I do." He continued walking inside the large stone room.
Several other tunnels led out of this one room. It was an intricate system, but you better bet Croc's already got it memorized. This place wasn't a sewer as much as it was an indoor swamp. No sewage actually came down here. It was a sanctuary for those who live underwater like him. The dog that loomed on the ground seemed to even be turning green ever since he'd come here.
Down one of the tunnels parallel to them, a shadow began to walk towards them. It was intimidating, in all honesty. If you had an eight foot demon walking towards you with his insane vampire boyfriend right behind him, you'd probably be a little shook too.
"Are you sure you don't want to let me take this one?" Micah questioned the hunter.
"You got plenty of action with the reaper." BK replied, "It's my turn to beat something up."
Croc laughed, his massive frame finally coming into the light. "Beat me? You must have a death wish."
"You're big." He mused as he pulled his weapon from his waistband, "I've fought bigger."
Kuza leaned against the side of the tunnel they'd walked out of. He casually filed his fangs, muttering, "How cliche."
"The rules are as follows; Do not destroy anything, preferably, and do not kill each other. You'll go until one side forfeits or there's a knock out. Don't over do it. BK has decided to enter the fight alone, but if he gets too overwhelmed, he's allowed to bring Friday into the fight to help him." Jasper explained.
"Friday?" Ryan interrupted, "She's like five feet tall if she's lucky!"
The little lady crossed her arms over her chest with a pout, "Hey! Size doesn't matter."
"Yeah, Ry, you of all people should know that." Ricky mumbled with a smirk.
"I assure you, she's very capable." Jasper replied.
Croc waved his hand dismissively, "This isn't worth my time. Go have some fun with your new toys, Baby. Just don't break them too badly."
Kuza tossed his file aside carelessly. He pulled off his shirt as he walked onto the battlegrounds. Cracking his knuckles, he made a jump attack at his opponent. Being slightly unprepared, BK was thrown into the wall. He recovered quickly, equipping his rifle while the smoke settled around him. Kuza crossed his arms, thinking how foolish it was for anyone to try to use a sniper rifle against a vampire.
His eyes widened in a mix of shock and awe when the weapon transformed into a scythe. What he once took as a mele against firearms match just changed drastically. He jumped back as a swing of the blade almost cut his stomach. BK's only mistake was realizing that Kuza was the type that got more powerful the more angry he became.
"Where does someone like that get a scythe? Let alone one that's also a sniper?" Ricky grumbled.
"He made it." Felix replied, narrowing his eyes at his father, "Do you like anyone in my life? You don't like my girlfriend, you're suspicious of my boss, and now you're doubting my best friend."
"Don't take it personally. He doesn't trust anyone when he first meets them. Give him time." Ryan said. He glanced over at Marci, "Sorry you haven't gotten the warmest welcome to the family."
She laughed nervously, "Uh-hum, it's fine... You're still better than my family. My blood family anyways. This is my real family now."
Ricky gritted his teeth and bit his tongue. How could she saw something so ridiculous? This wasn't anything anyone should be proud to claim. In his eyes, the girl was nothing but a fool leading his son blindly astray. He tried his best to accept her, but she'd brought nothing but bad luck so far.
Kuza was admittedly out of practice. He'd spent the last few years being babied and playing housewife. His body was still hard as a rock but his skills were lacking what they once were. He skidded back across the stone floor after another blow.
"You're not playing fairly." He whined, "I'm unarmed."
BK stuck the end of the scythe in the ground. He loaded the chamber, cocking the rifle back. "And I don't have fangs or superhuman strength, so we'll consider ourselves even." He checked the scope to make sure the shot was lined up, then unloaded a round in Kuza's direction.
The vampire crossed his arms over his head to protect his face. As the bullets punctured his skin, he healed almost instantly. It was still rather annoying. Kuza glared at his mate, "Are you just going to stand there?!"
Croc sighed, "Do I always have to pull you out of messes, Baby?"
"Just do something already!" He complained.
The demon snickered to himself. He'd use that one as leverage later in the bedroom. Croc walked into the line of fire. The bullets bounced right off his stomach, falling to the ground. In the many years they'd known Croc, they'd never truly seen him in a fight. They had no idea he was bulletproof. By the look of shock on BK's face, he was pretty stunned too.
"Friday, take care of Kuza. This one's mine." The hunter nearly growled in his tone.
Croc slowly removed his leather jacket, letting it fall to the ground. He smirked like the Devil himself, "I have to admire your confidence, but you're arrogant."
He stopped the scythe with his bare hands as it came for him. There was gasps from the small crowd watching. Croc's brute strength wasn't all the had. He knew strategy like you wouldn't believe. Take a hunter's weapon away from them and they're nothing. He pulled away the blade and threw it into the furthest wall.
Friday held her cat stuffed animal up to her aid, "Hold, please."
Micah, as manly as he was, had no problem holding a kitten plushie. He found pride in it, in fact. Anytime he could do his job and make her happy at the same time was a major win in her book. The little princess stretched out her arms over her head as she prepared herself.
"I can't hit a girl!" Kuza stated.
"Oh, she may change your mind on that." Micah responded.
"He's never been shy about hitting women before." Ricky muttered.
"That's one of the things that makes Friday such a good fighter. She's so sweet and precious, no one wants to hurt her. On the rare occasion someone does hurt her without hesitation, I know they're truly awful human beings." He replied.
How someone so delicate and tiny could manage a strong punch on Kuza was impossibly. Yet, she did it. She had him on that floor quicker than the hunter did. He still didn't want to fight back though. Kuza figured it'd be best to let her have this victory, and let the true fighters settle this.
While everyone was distracted by the brawl, Angela sneaked in behind them. She whispered something to Jasper that seemed to alarm him. Ryan was the only one to notice this transaction. The warden quickly slipped away from the crow. He knew he couldn't follow, but he wasn't going to forget the suspicious activity.

Jasper wasn't a creature who feared much. When something did scare him, it was for a damn good reason. He rushed up to one of the other floors of the underground, the one that served as a sanctuary of sorts. The massive circular room was a coal black color. On the floor rested several supernatural signs surrounding a pentagram. It looked like something ripped straight out of a Christian's nightmare.
Beau forced Dusk to walk along in front of him. He wasn't in the mood for the witch's bullshit. One of the symbol's on the floor was glowing brightly when it really shouldn't have been. With a glare that could honestly kill a man, Beau demanded through his Irish accent, "Open it, now!"
"Why the fuck should I?" She growled.
He grabbed her by her neck, digging his sharp nails in, "I can't kill you because we need you, but I could really make your life a living Hell. And it won't be the kind of pain you like. Open it."
Dusk raised her bound hands, "I'm a little tied up."
Beau reluctantly unlocked them. He didn't want to waste any time. Letting her have free roam also wasn't a good idea, but it was the risk they were willing to take. Who knows when she could go off the rails. For the most part, she does behave herself. Dusk knelt down on the edge of the glowing symbol. She placed her hands in the center, speaking some words that didn't make sense to either of them.
Wind began to spiral up from the power source. Her hair whipped around her face and the energy was telling her to stop now. She kept going though, knowing this was what her master wanted. Her eyes sparkled in awe as a shadow rose up from the portal. Dusk almost fell over in his strong presence. His soul was unlike any she'd encountered before. It was neither dark nor light; It was a mix of grays and purples.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't skin you right now." The shadow seethed.
"I am the only reason anyone is still alive. I know we've lost-"
"We?" He barked, "You didn't lose jack shit. You didn't give a fuck about Maria or Sebastian. In fact, I don't believe you care about any of them at this point. And now, we've lost another! How is possible in the span of a couple of weeks you've lost three people you swore to protect?!"
Jasper's grasp on his cane tightened, "I may not have had the best relationship with Maria or Sebastian, but don't you ever dare say I didn't care for them! I failed to protect them and their blood is on my hands. I know that, but don't you blame me for Deacon's death! He died of old age and I couldn't have prevented that."
The shadow seemed to lessen his anger, switching it out for shock, "Deacon? Deacon's dead?"
"Yes, he... He passed last night, but he asked me to take his soul. You couldn't have possibly known, then... I'm sorry, but when you said three-" Jasper's expression twisted in confusion, "Someone else is dead?"
"Yes, and I'm afraid you're going to be feeling some repercussions from this one in the living world..."
