Chapter 15 | Reunited

Beau slid his key card through the slot in front of Croc's door. They found themselves at the very end of the hall, where it was the darkest and coldest. Kuza didn't even notice it though. He assumed the goosebumps on his skin were going from how anxious he was. Beau couldn't open that door fast enough.

"You have a visitor." He mused as he opened it.

Croc stood up, smiling ear to ear, "I know. I could feel my baby nearby."

Kuza ran into his arms, hugging him tightly. The branding on the back of his neck glowed like a fire as a result of the property it marked being returned to it's owner. To some that had been marked, that may have been painful. For Kuza, though, it was an amazing sensation. Almost as amazing as the feeling he recieved when reconnecting his lips with his love's.

"I've missed you so much, Daddy." He whispered with his arms draped over Croc's shoulders. Of course, the two feet of height difference caused him to be on his tip toes.

"I am required to lock this door. Are you alright with being locked in here?" Beau questioned.

"I don't care, as long as I'm with him." He replied.

The doctor smirked, "Alright. Do try to keep it down, though. Other patients will be trying to sleep."

"Well," Croc chuckled, "We can certainly try but it's a little hard for my baby to stay completely quiet."

Kuza laughed evilly as he closed the space between him and his owner. A flame burned along his skin to hear his mate's sexy voice again. Some may find his reptile-like hisses and growls disturbing. For his little bloodsucker, though, they were nothing but pure sex. Beau pulled the door shut to leave the love birds to their privacy.

"Now," He spoke, looking to Felix, "It's your turn. You look nervous."

"I haven't seen her in three years. I'm worried she's going to be angry with me." He replied.

Beau looked amused, "I don't know where you'd get an idea like that. You know you're the only person she can't ever get mad at. The entire time you've been gone she's spent obsessing over you."

Felix gained a cute smile, "My dad told me once that if I ever planned on settling down, I should get one that's obsessive. He said even though they're batshit crazy, you'll never have to worry about being alone. Plus, they can be entertaining."

He laughed, "I take it your mother must be that way then?"

"Yeah, if my parents get too far apart they can develop telepathy. Mom won't stop talking in dad's head until he comes home. They have one of the strongest relationships of anyone I've ever known. I want that, with Marci." He sighed, "I was scared I'd never come back and I made a mistake. A bad mistake. I started to see another woman. We're over now, but I slept with another woman, Beau."

He stopped as they'd reached the main hall. Setting his hand on the younger's shoulder, he said, "She will understand as long as you explain it to her properly. Tell her how you had no faith you'd ever return here. She would've wanted you to move on, had that ended up being the case. I suggest you keep this to yourself until things cool down, though. Now that you're here, I believe it'll help her finally get back on her feet as well. Give her time to get better."

"My uncle mentioned to me how sick she was. Is it true she doesn't speak anymore?" He fearfully asked.

"Not completely. She will speak to me, and when no one is looking, she'll talk to Friday and Yuki. Other than that, though, I'm afraid she's been extremely closed off. You were her purpose of living. I don't know why you're wasting time talking with me." Beau gestured his hand out to the door beside them, "Go see her, already."

His hands were actually shaking. Part of him was so happy, while the other was mortified. Beau disappeared down the hall to let the young vampire deal with his anxiety himself. Felix grabbed hold of the door handle and turned it slowly. Relief met him to see she was sleeping. It somehow made it less scary. She was as gorgeous as he'd remembered. Seeing her face helped him relax.

Felix walked around to the side of the bed she faced. He knelt over her, brushing hair out of her closed eyes and kissing her forehead. "Beautiful, wake up." He whispered, "Marci," His smile grew wider when her eyelids tiredly raised. "There's those gorgeous eyes."

Marci woke up in an instant to see her handsome band hovering over her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, tears welling up in her glassy eyes. "I missed you," She whispered, tightening her grip, "I missed you so much. Don't ever leave again. Never again, please."

He hugged her as securily as he could to comfort her. Felix buried his face against the crook of her neck, whispering, "I won't, Baby. I'm never leaving you again. I can't live without you." He pulled back and gently wiped away her tears, "Don't cry. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere ever again. I promise."

Ricky was about the only person that could barge into Ryan's room without upsetting him. The two might as well have been brothers. He made sure to shut the door behind him and lock it. While Ghost got some rest in their room, comforting his daughter, the two had much to discuss.

Ryan sat on the edge of his bed, watching the candle burn on the nightstand. His mind was clouded in complete chaos. Even in times of war he'd never known his thoughts to be so jumbled. They were like spiderwebs that had lost their way with one another and become a fucked up mess.

As Ricky approached him, he set an old book on the nightstand. Bound by a strong metal lock, one of the coffin shaped stones rested on the front of it. "I told Ghost to grab it on his way out." He said.

Ryan picked up Finch's journal, examining the powerful gem on the front. He held it up, sneering, "Did you know about all of this?" Silence followed, angering him, "Ricky, did you fucking know?!"

"Shh," Ricky quickly replied, "I didn't know about the stones, but I knew about the society. I didn't know their purpose or their meeting places or the members. All Chris ever mentioned to me was that he didn't trust all of them. To be frank, I don't either."

He sighed, tossing the book back on the nightstand. "There's something real fucking shady about this place. Ash, Deacon, Emerson, I know we can trust them. The others, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them."

"Those doctors weren't too fond of us. That's for sure." Ricky took a seat beside his best friend as he continued, "And did you see the way those servants obeyed Jasper? There was something not right about that. I've never seen servants act that way before, except when they were entered into a demon pact."

"Shae is the only one that's a demon, though. Paris and Micah are vamps." He said, "But, now that I'm thinking about it, I've heard a few people make a big deal about how old Jasper is. They've said he's even older than Deacon. A vampire can't live that long, unless they had demon blood."

"It wouldn't surprise me. He just gives me bad vibes. The only way to know for sure is if you can find a mark on one of them."

Ryan scoffed, "That won't happen. Shae's not my biggest fan, and Micah, he's nice to me but I doubt he'd trust me enough." A knock at the door caused him to silence himself. He got up from the bed, walking to open it.

On the other side stood the one servant who had proved already to be too kindhearted for this place. Paris found himself turning shier than normal in Ryan's presence. "Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you'd like me to bring dinner to your room? We won't be eating at the table tonight, I'm afraid."

"Yes, please, for Ricky and I both. I'd appreciate it." He replied.

Paris looked down, trying to hide his blush, "Just doing my job. I'll return with your meal in about an hour's time."

"Thank you." Ryan closed the door as the chef began to walk away. He turned back towards Ricky, seeing the smirk on his face. "What?" He questioned.

The other laughed as he rested against the headboard, "He likes you."

He rolled his eyes, "Don't be ridiculous."

"I'm not. Look, I've been gay as fuck for five centuries. I know what I'm talking about. He likes you, a lot, and if you want to find a demon's symbol on him, the best way is to sleep with him. I know it sounds godawful to you but can't you just close your eyes and pretend it's the maid?"

"Seriously, think about what you just said." Ryan sat back down on the edge of the bed, "What if I told you to go fuck a woman and pretend it was a guy? You wouldn't want to fucking do it. I know you."

He shrugged, "If it was this important, I'd do it. A hole's a hole."

"Yeah," Ryan sighed, "I know. Unfortunately I don't think Paris is the only one I might have to sleep with to get some answers. If anyone's going to give me dirt on this place, it'll be the inmates. Lucky me, there's two that really have a thing for me. They've both been here a long time too and I know they know things. I can just tell. There's a problem, though. They're locked in Rest Point. I'll need a key to get in the front gate, then I'll need an employee's keycard to unlock the rooms."

"That won't be a problem. I'm sure Felix can get his hands on one, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'm sure he's enjoying being," He coughed subtly, "Reunited with his girlfriend."

"Hm, I'm not sure the poor girl would have the energy for that. She's suffering from an incurable disease that makes it so her body doesn't produce adrenaline. She's always tired."

Ricky thought for a moment, then looked concerned, "Did you just have sympathy for someone?"

"Oh God," Ryan scrunched his nose in disgust, "I did. See, this is what this place is doing to me. It's making me have sympathy for people, and I'm going to have to fuck people I don't want to!"

"It's better than killing. Just be glad we're here and not at war again."

He sighed, letting his head rest on the headboard behind him, "Yeah... Whomever's doing this, I wonder how pissed they were when they dug up Chris' grave."

Ricky laughed from a mix of tiredness and hysteria. He couldn't help but relish in the fact that it was a major kick in the face to their unknown enemy. All the mystery and questions surrounding them, it was nice to have one small moment of humor.
