He doesn't want to leave where he lives in now. He does have to move away for college, but not very far. He doesn't want to move too far away from his family. His big brother Danny had to move away to follow his dreams, but he visits frequently. His big sister, Isa, still lives at home to help support their parents. They all want to stay near home, with family. Lance wants to become a psychologist, he can do that anywhere. So he'll be staying near home. Just moving into an apartment across town with Keith was a big move for him and he'd go visit like 3 times a week in the beginning.
