Two things.  One, introduce a new type of opposition. Second, a diversion for Steven, so Rose and Amethyst can have their talk.

Well, I'm recovering from a hangover. Crazy night. I saw the Pearl question from the last chapter and I see that I didn't give a proper answer to it so I'll re-answer it.

Pearl is a slave to Rose. Emotionally. Pearl doesn't really have her own motives other than serving Rose by any means neccessary, even if its through her bloodline. Pearl, as I stated earlier, was easily disposed, and forgotten by Rose. But Pearl knows this and doesn't seek revenge, rather she sees this as her own failure. She was good enough for Rose and regrets that she can't please her enough for her to be kept. Even when Steven pleaded for her to see reason, she psychology couldn't receive his words and forgoed to her default setting, "make her master happy".  Steven has taken pity on Pearl. And we will find out end result of her fate.

Sorry for the previous Q/A. Wasn't sober when I answered it, so it was more of a broad stroke of bold words. It's a must less subtle description of Pearl, so if you was a harsh version of her, use that one. More this is more subtle, and alot more care was put into being genuinely more comfortable in saying Pearl's subservient nature. I'm labeling the other one, "Drunken Review."
