Chapter Twelve
Nothing to say, sooooo..... enjoy.
(Glory's POV)
I was wearing a gorgeous green dress that faded into a soft blue color. I had refused Deathbringer's several offers to take me to the dance originally, but eventually, not wanting to go with anyone else that kept asking me, and with lots of convincing from Tsunami, I ended up reluctantly accepting.
Tsunami was going with Riptide, and last time I saw either of them they were off dancing. Sunny wasn't here yet, Clay didn't go with anyone and had disappeared somewhere, and Starflight and Fatespeaker were by the food table. I, personally, was avoiding Deathbringer.
"There you are!" I yelped, alarmed. When I saw the twinkling, midnight blue eyes staring back at me, the lopsided smirk, and the shaggy black-and-silver hair, I nearly groaned out loud. Deathbringer.
"Hi..." I muttered.
"Tsunami said that you were over here." Deathbringer smirked in that annoying smug way he had. This time I actually groaned out loud. I was so getting back at her later.
"Did she now?" I said, my tone dark. Deathbringer laughed, and I gave him a confused look. What did I say that was so funny?
I shrugged mentally, deciding not to bother finding out. "Before you ask, Deathbringer, the answer is no, I am not going to dance with you. I'm doing quite well right here, as a matter of fact."
Deathbringer sighed. "I figured you would say that. Still, I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear you say that."
I sighed as well, irritated at him. "You know the answer. Why bother?"
He ignored me. "Glory Morning, would you dance with me?" Deathbringer flashed me a charming grin.
"No." I said flatly. Deathbringer shook his head at me. "You're a strange person, Glory." He told me.
I raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And why would that be? Because I don't want to go out with you? I'm pretty sure that that makes me sensible, not strange." Deathbringer chuckled.
"No, I mean that you're just so uninterested in boys in general. Normally, girls would be begging for a chance to dance with literally anyone good-looking."
"I suppose that I just have bigger, more important priorities." I shrugged. "Besides, it's not like I'm uninterested. Not that it's any of your business, though."
"Ah, yes, of course. The classic 'none of your business'. Well, I'm off to find Meerkat. He said he was coming..." Deathbringer trailed off as he stood and walked off.
I leaned back, relieved. It wasn't like I wasn't interested in Deathbringer... I mean, he infuriated me, sure. But he was also really charming and nice. I did sort of like him, I supposed... though if I ever told Tsunami that, she would never let it go. And neither would Deathbringer.
I heard something that sounded kind of like a whisper coming from above me. I looked up, convinced I was hearing things. As I narrowed my eyes, searching the ceiling, there was a large boom and the ballroom exploded.

So... this chapter is SUPER short (only like 480 words or something)-but I had to do SOMETHING to set up for the next part... and I didn't just want to switch POVs since that's not as MOMENTOUS or FUN... so... here we are... yep, okay, bai.
