Fire escape
Ed POV
I was beginning to get desperate to get out. Now that I've had the taste for my flames I needed more. I needed out. I couldn't hide this much longer. I'm sure Casy could sense this. I was snapping more at him and getting more agitated. His last visit was horrible. We were just talking when he said something.
"Do you really think they'll let you out soon," he asked.
"Of course," the way I took this was he had no plan to get me out.
"Why wouldn't I!" I yelled a bit.
"I was just asking sorry," he put his hands up defensively. I slipped up. I let my act fall. I broke out of my innocence fun girl character. We continued on talking as he doodled in his sketch book.
My act was starting to fall a bit. I had to keep it together if I wanted to get out. I had to get out! I kept my act up now.
I sighed. Casy had visited six times now. I shook my head and the matches hidden behind my bangs fell out. They stayed in my hair well cause of all the knots. I checked my match supply. I had five left. He brought me more this time. I stared them longingly. I should probably save them. I quickly put them back behind my ears before I was too tempted. I sat down on my cot annoyed.
I looked at the piles of letters and pictures that have been sent to me by Casy. I picked them up and read some of them over. I held them getting angered. He said he'd get me out. It's been over half a year and I'm still here! I threw the letters across the room in rage. They scattered everywhere.
I need to get out now! I was getting out now! I sat down again thinking of how to get out. All I had was matches and pap- I smirked a little. I picked up the papers full of lies. I grabbed the stack of my parents too. I pulled out one of my matches. I put the wooden stick between my teeth. I put the papers on my bed. The sheets would catch fire too. I struck the match. I quickly dropped it onto the papers. They quickly were set ablaze. I smirked.
"Help there's a fire in my room!" I yelled. The fire alarm started going off. The bed was already on fire too. It was spreading fast. I smiled. Either way this ends I get out. I either get pulled out of the room or die in this fire. I'm not complaining either way.
The fire alarm was now blaring. Doctors and patients were now panicked. I heard screaming. Everyone was let out the rooms and they ran out. It's utter chaos. And I love it.
My door was opened and they saw the fire in my room. I ran out of the room and kicked one of the Doctors who opened the door into my room. I kicked them into the flames in my room. I heard them scream in agony as they burned in the fire I had made. They screams slowly died out as he did. It was growing fast. Due to what happened now the place was smelling like burning flesh.
I giggled a little and smiled. The other people who had seen me kick the man into the fire stood still for a second. The tension was so think you could cut it. It was plain too see for them. I had somehow started the fire and now I was using it to make chaos. I turned to them.
"What? Scared?" I smirked at them. I held back more giggles. One of the Doctors ran at me to put me in a hold. I dodged him and he ran right into the fire. Screams. What sweet bliss this was. The others turned around trying to escape. I didn't really care. No one would take anyone who's been in an asylum seriously. I laughed loudly. My laughter echoed through the almost empty burning building. I could hear sirens of a fire truck coming. Such a shame my work had to go.
I took a breath and sighed. I needed to save oxygen and get out. As much as I loved this, I wasn't ready to die yet. I quickly rushed out to the exit I knew of. I tried not to breath too much and inhale ash and smoke. My lungs stung by the time I found the door lucky it wasn't blocked. I ran quickly away from the blazing beauty still giggling. I opened the door and ran out.
I took deep breaths of the outside air. I looked to see ambulances and fire trucks. The firemen were already working on putting the fire out and dragging out the ones still in. I smiled knowing not all of them were found and never would be.
A nurse from one of the ambulances rushed to me.
"Oh my are you okay?" She asked.
"Yes I made it out just in time but," I pretended to start crying.
"Others didn't make it. The screaming..." The woman patted my shoulders.
"I know it must have been very scary. Come with me. Even if you are uninjured you should drink some water to flush out the the smok..." She looked at my arms
"My god what happened! You are covered in burns!" She yelled.
"Oh these are old...some of them..." "You poor thing. I can't do much about the older ones but the newer ones can be helped," she said as she grabbed my hand. She lead to me away from the building and handed me a water bottle. She began to treat my self inflicted burns with ointment and bandaged them up.
I saw all the people that escaped. It made me sad it was so many people. Oh well I'll just have to get them later maybe. I didn't really care though. I was free!
My excitement was hard to control but I had to act worried and scared. I couldn't help but smile a little. All the plans I'd made in that hell for when I got out could be put into action. I was so happy. I just hide my real smile as I watched my beautiful inferno and smelled smoke and fear.
