Farwell
Ed POV
After the fire I was asked a lot of questions. Police, news reporters, nurses, doctors. Just a small list of all the people I talked to. They asked how the fire started and how'd I react. I lied my way through these interviews.
As far as they knew, I had been on the other end of the hospital at the time. They all believed my lovely lies. I even managed to tear up a bit.
I had heard that all the patients that got out and were okay were being transferred to another institution. There was no way I was going to another place like that.
The more extensive patients were already sent to another hospital. As for the rest of us we still had to be taken. They were trying to find room in a few more places for them. I wouldn't be going.
I began to break away from the group of mentally disturbed people and tried to sneak out. I quietly moved away from where they had been keeping us. As I tried to slip away I felt a hand on my shoulder. I whipped around and saw a nurse who had been helping to watch the group that was still left here.
"Where are you going young lady?" She asked. Her voice was strict and commanding. My mind raced for an excuse.
"I was going for a walk. I'm a little tense right now," I lied. I wasn't tense at all. I felt so free.
"Tense huh?" She said. She saw through my act. Damn I hate people who do that.
"You're the psycho that sent her house on fire right?"she asked.
"Huh?" I pretended like I didn't know what she was talking about.
"You're probably enjoying this. Aren't you?" She accused me.
"That seems very inappropriate to say at a time like this," I said. I was starting to lose me cool.
"Maybe. Come with me," she said no convinced by my act. She started to dragged me back. I struggled and stomped on her foot.
"Ow you little," she grabbed me by my hair and started to drag me again. I then turned a around and punched her in the gut hard as I could. She let go of me doubled over. I ran as fast as I could. I wasn't going back. She couldn't take me back. I felt my lungs started to hurt from how much I was running. I was used to it from inhaling smoke. Unfortunately I haven't been very active lately so my muscles were weaker. I still kept running. I was too determined to stop.
I kept running till I felt I was far enough. I had ended up back in town. I sighed and leaned against the wall of a building gasping for air. I fell to my knees still gasping. Someone stopped in front of me.
"Excuse me are you okay?" They asked.
"I'm *gasp* f-fine *gasp*" I tried to say. I guessed they got it through my gasps. I looked up a little and saw them holding out a water bottle to me. I took it and drank the water greedily.
"Wow what made you so tired?" They asked me.
"Wait I think I know you!" They exclaimed.
"You're Casy's insane girlfriend right!" I almost spit out the water in my mouth.
"I am not!" I yelled.
"Oh you're just his insane friend."
"I'm not insane or his friend. We just know each other," I said bluntly.
"Well he totally likes you. Wait a second aren't you in an asylum?" They questioned.
"Shit," I muttered.
"Well I better go!" I walked quickly away with that. They tried to call back for me but I my walk became a run again.
I stopped farther away and breathed heavily again. I hide in an alleyway so no one else could recognize me. I was thankful I still had the water bottle. I finished it off.
I leaned against one of the walls of the alleyway. I folded a lock of hair behind my ear. I had finally caught my breath. I looked around to make sure no one was around that would recognize me. I was pretty sure the coast was clear until I heard the door next to me open. I turned to see who it was.
It was my parents.
"Are you sure we got everything we needed?" My dad asked.
"Yes now stop asking!" My mom said loudly. I hid back into the alleyway. Rage and hate flooded me. They were still breathing. It made me so mad. They kept me away from what truly made me happy. I how dare they!
My hands turned into fist. I felt myself shaking with rage. I looked out of the alleyway to see how far they were. They had walked not too far. I quietly snuck out of the alleyway and started to causally follow them. I made sure not to be seen by them or anyone else.
I soon followed them to house. I guessed this was their new house. What a shame it had to go too. I giggled at the thought. Boy this was going to be fun.
I waited an hour or two just watching them through a window. I made sure to be careful and to not be spotted. They seem to be doing all the normal things they would do. They had gotten new furniture as well as the house.
I finally decided to put the plan I had in my head into action. I walked up to the front door and knocked. I waited in anticipation for the door to open. My dad slowly opened it.
"Hello?" He said not looking up at me.
"Hey dad," I said. His head snapped up and looked at me. There was this look in his eyes. It was mix of relief, panic, and fear. I loved the fear part.
"Edana...but how?" He asked.
"I told you I'd get out," I said. I tried to hide my excitement.
"Well um. What happened with the fire? Everyone is talking about it," he asked. I snickered.
"Wow dad you are still so dumb," I laughed loudly. He looked at me shocked and scared.
"I started it of course! Who else would it be," I added. He looked at me in horrible now.
"What? There's no way you could have access to anything that could ma-"
"Well believe in miracles dad. Now let's see I said something last time you saw me. Oh what was it?" I joked. I tapped my chin.
"Oh right I promised to make sure you could never take my fire away again," I said as I smirked. He tried hastily to close the door but I pushed it open.
"Locking your own flesh and blood out," I tutted. He backed up.
"Stay back," he said trying to be treating. I quickly rushed past him into the hall.
"Come back here!" He yelled. I ran into one of the rooms in the hall and locked the door. He pounded on it yelling at me. I gave another deranged giggle.
"Edana?" I heard someone behind me say.
"Shit," I muttered. I turned to see my mother.
"Heya mom," I gave her a smirk. She stepped back.
"You shouldn't be here," she said shakily.
"Really? I had no clue," I giggled. She tried to run past me and unlock the door. I tripped her and kicked her away from the door. Before she could get up I checked behind my bangs. Bingo! I pulled out my remaining four matches.
"Where'd you get those you psycho!" My mom screamed.
"Just from a friend of mine," I said. I struck one and ran pasted my mom. I threw it into the floor hoping the carpet would get set on fire. I when to light another when I was hit in the back of the head. I stubbled forward dropping the match. I put my hand slowly to my head. Pain spread through my head. I reached to the back of my head. Blood poured from the back of my head. I turned to see my mom holding a broken lamp. She when to hit home again with it. I grabbed her hand and pinned her to the wall. She looked at me. She was tearing up a little.
"Let me go!" She struggled. I didn't let go. She looked at me pleadingly.
"I'm sorry I pushed you! I did it cause I loved you! I wanted you to be successful! Please stop! I just want my daughter back not this monster she's become! The one who was quiet and smart!" She cried out.
I leaned close to her and whispered,"I've always been this monster." She shuttered at my words. I kneed her hard in the gut and she crashed her head hard against the wall. She fell to the ground unconscious.
I heard my dad banging on the door more and yelling. He was getting something to break the door down now. I picked up my matches off the floor. I struck one and put it on the sheets of the bed. I walked out of the room locking it. I quickly moved. I picked up my parents wallets that were on the in the living room. I grabbed the money out. They wouldn't need these if they were dead.
My dad was back to banging on the door now. He had gotten an ax and chopped down the door. He just saw the room that was slowly catching fire. He picked up my mom and dragged her out of the room.
I ran to the garage and looked around for something. I found the bright red can and smiled. I picked up the gasoline and ran out of the garage. I poured a trait of it as I went.
My dad had now dragged out my mom and was going to rush to the door. I stepped in front of the door way. Matches in one hand and gasoline in the other.
"Get out of the way Edana! Do you really want us to die here!" He yelled. I smiled and poured more gas in front of me.
"Yes," I lit the rest of my matches and threw them to the ground. The moment they hit the gas it bursted into flames blocking my parents exit. I had gotten my hands into it on accident. My hands were now burnt again. The feeling was wonderful. I stepped back adding more gasoline to the fire. I burned more.
I watched it smiling like a psycho until I started to cough. There was too much smoke for my stupid lungs to deal with. If I had my way I'd breath smoke instead of air.
I rushed out of the burning house smiling and giggling. I still smelled the smoke and gas for far away.
I ran far from the house. I had ended up in a nice neighborhood. The houses were fancy and I wondered how long they would take to burn down entirely. I giggled at the thought and kept walking. I walked until I stopped for a second. I turned to see a car I realized. It was Casy's. I smirked as a new idea formed into my head.
