Chapter 4: Enemies
"Allow your enemies their space to hate; they will destroy themselves in the process."
-Anonymous
"Are you insane?!"
Your voice rang throughout the room you stood in, your feet pacing the floor as you ran a hand through your hair, anger was radiating off of you in waves.
After your audience with Taehyung, you were lead to your new room by a few of his guards. The room was huge. The walls were decorated with painted pictures, and a few pieces of furniture.
In the corner there was a large vanity with three large mirrors, golden pieces of jewelry were laid out for you, along with a hairbrush and a plate of grapes.
A large king-sized bed sat in the middle of the room, a large canopy of blue, sheath material was hung from the ceiling, and draped down to make a tent over the bed. The sheets on the bed were made of golden silk, the large pillows on the bed were fluffy and looked extremely comfortable. The duvet on the bed was blue and made of a velvet material.
There was a large doorway on the outside wall of your room, which lead to a large balcony, white curtains were the only thing separating your room from the outside world.
Jimin sighed as he sat down on the large bed, his hands resting on the velvet bedspread beneath him.
"You shouldn't have made that deal with him!" You stated. "I told you, I'm not a goddess."
The blind high priest listened as you paced the room anxiously, the cool, evening wind blowing in from the open balcony and hitting his face.
"Yes you are. Even if you don't know it yet." he said. "I have complete faith in your abilities."
You watched as Hoseok frowned, running a hand through his dirty blond hair.
"She's right, Jimin." He started. "I believe in her too, but the Pharaoh is a trickster, and he doesn't like it when something is taken from him. Even if she proves herself, he will find some way to kill you."
The chestnut-haired male nodded.
"I know, but this was the best option for us." He stated. "If I didn't accept the deal, Y/n would have been captured and forced to serve Pharaoh. I bought us some time."
You shook your head.
"And what about you? If I don't preform a miracle in seven days, you die. Why would you put your fate into the hands of a stranger?"
Jungkook crossed his arms, leaning his body against the balcony door way.
"Because he's going to die anyway." he muttered out.
Your blue eyes snapped to Jungkook's form, raising your eyebrows in confusion.
"What?"
"Jungkook." Jimin scolded from his sitting position. "That is enough."
"No," You started. "What is he talking about?"
Jungkook moved his gaze to Jimin, a frown settling on his face.
"Are you going to tell her or should I?"
Jimin released a heavy sigh, standing up slowly.
"It is none of her concern." He stated blankly.
"Yes it is." You argued. "Why did he say you were going to die?"
The high priest ran a hand through his hair as your gaze darted around the room, Hoseok rubbed his neck nervously while Jungkook stared at Jimin, an unknown secret floating amungst them.
"I have a disease of the blood." Jimin started slowly. "I have been trying to fight it but the court physician says I only have a short time left."
Your eyes widened at his words.
He was dying?
Jimin was going to die?
Your heart dropped to your stomach, anger and sadness shooting through you at his confession. That's why he made the deal, because he was going to die anyway, it isn't like he would be loosing anything, in fact if the Pharaoh did kill him, it would be less painful than waiting for death.
"Why didn't you tell me?" You asked quietly.
Jimin shrugged.
"Like I said; It wasn't any of your concern."
You scoffed angrily, trying to keep back tears from falling from your eyes.
You had only known this version of Jimin for a few hours, but you couldn't help but get attached, he was kind to you, and he believed in you, he didn't care that you were a stranger, he volunteered to lay down his life for you, because of how much faith he had in you.
Jungkook stepped forward.
"Apparently it wasn't my concern either."
Jimin sighed.
"Jungkook, I-"
The servant interrupted him.
"Don't. You knew about this disease from day one, but I don't find out about it until two days ago, and that is because I happened to hear the physician talking to you about it."
The high priest lowered his head in shame.
"I didn't want to burden you. You would've been hurt."
"But you told Hoseok. You told him as soon as you found out, but I don't even get the privilege of you telling me yourself. When did you plan to tell me? When you were on your death bed or were you going to wait until I found you dead in the temple?"
"I couldn't tell you, Jungkook. I have always been like a big brother to you, I have always been there for you, I didn't want you to be hurt."
"So you were just going to leave without saying goodbye?" Jungkook's voice cracked as he glared at the high priest. "You are just a coward."
Jimin nodded.
"I suppose I am. I couldn't bring myself to tell anyone about this. It's embarrassing to die like this."
"You should've told me!" The servant yelled. "That's it! That's the end of the story! You should have told me, but you didn't!"
You frowned as you watched the two men argue, stepping forward as you eyes the two of them.
" You need to calm down Jungkook." You stated calmly. "I understand that you're hurt, you have every right to be, but if Jimin is dying, you shouldn't spend the rest of his time being angry with him, you'll only regret it when he's gone."
Jungkook glared at you.
"Stay out of this." He snarled. "You've only arrived here today. You don't know me, you don't know any of us, so do not try and dictate to me what I must do."
"I wasn't-"
"Yes you were. You are a woman, all women want to do is control men. You are no different."He laughed sarcastically. "You know nothing of the pain I'm feeling. You are merely trying to get involved because you wish to gain attention. You have not yet experienced the world. You are a child."
You sent him a hard glare, approaching him and shoving your finger in his chest roughly.
"I am not a child." You growled out. "I have experienced pain, and anger that you could not even begin to understand. I have seen loss greater than anything you could ever imagine, I have been forced from my home, and torn apart from my family, I have fallen in love and had that love taken from me. You can say that I am young you can even say that I don't understand. But don't you dare say that I know nothing of pain. You could not even begin to understand the pain I have gone through."
Jungkook's chocolate eyes were wide as you finished your rant, your chest heaving in anger as he stared at you, speechless. No woman had ever spoken to him like that. Women in Egypt were quiet and humble, they only spoke when they were spoken to, they kept their heads down and did as they were told, any women who did not keep her mouth shut was beaten.
"I am trying to help you." You stated as you tried to come down. "I know you're angry and hurt, I'm not exactly jumping for joy right now either, but Jimin is dying, don't spend the rest of his time here arguing with him. Understand?"
The dark haired slave nodded slowly, his eyes still wide.
"Y-Yes."
You backed away from him slowly, nodding your head.
"Good."
Hoseok watched you in amusement. Jungkook was a very masculine person, he didn't like it when he was questioned or corrected, he was stubborn and hard headed, he didn't listen to reason, he simply acted in impulse, which got him in trouble with the taskmasters. He often got beatings for his smart mouth. Yet he stood before you now, speechless and obedient, like a small puppy.
"We should leave you to your rest, you will have a busy day tomorrow." Hoseok stated as he walked towards the door.
You nodded, glancing over to him.
"Okay."
All of the men began walking towards the exit, Jungkook's eyes finally falling away from you as he moved away, speechless.
You grabbed Jimin's hand lightly, stopping him as the other men left.
Jimin turned to look in your direction, confusion written on his face.
"Jungkook is hurting." You started slowly. "I know that he isn't the type to talk about the way he feels, but you need to talk to him, clear things up, he needs you right now."
Jimin's eyes widened at your words of wisdom, his head nodding on instinct.
"I will." He said. "Thank you."
You smiled sadly, keeping your tears at bay as you stared into his gray eyes.
"You're welcome."
Jimin smiled, and you gently lead him to the door of your bedroom.
"Do you need help getting back to the temple?" You asked.
He chuckled.
"I have spent my whole life inside of this palace, I can make it anywhere."
You smiled, nodding your head.
"Be careful."
The high priest grabbed your hand gently.
"You will have to over look Jungkook's harsh words, he doesn't mean to hurt or offend you, he simply can't contain his emotions well."
You laughed
"I'm not offended, I had a friend just like him once."
The gray eyed man sent you a wide smile, stepping out of the doorway.
"Sleep well, y/n."
You smiled.
"You too, Jimin."

"Master!"
The raven haired man turned to face the doorway as his young sevant ran n, obviously excited about something.
"Why have you interrupted my worship? Have I not told you-"
"My apologies master, but I come bearing good news."
His eyebrow raised.
"What news?"
The servant smiled.
"Our prayers have been answered. The gods have sent us a blessing from the Nile!"
The dark haired man stared in confusion at his servant.
"What are you babbling about?"
"A goddess walks among us!" The servant stated. "She was presented to the Pharaoh today in his throne room. The high priest and the stargazer are sure that she is a divine being, but the Pharaoh isn't so sure."
The man scoffed.
"The Pharaoh is a fool." He spat. "Is she beautiful?"
The servant nodded fervently.
"Very."
The man smirked evilly.
"We shall wait for her power to be proved."
The servant tilted his head.
"And then what?"
The dark haired man smiled, moving his gaze to stare at the large, black statue before him, the alter filled with dead animals and burning incense from his earlier "worship". The statue embodied the body of a man, and the head of a jackal. A dark energy radiated off of the marble structure and seemed to fill the entire room with an evil atmosphere.
"And then, if she is a goddess,
we will present her to our master."
A/N,
Hehe. Welcome to Hell.
I love introducing villains. It's my favorite part of writing.
Which Egyptian god/goddess do you think most suits you and why? (I'm just trying to get to know my readers a little more :))
