Chapter 3:Deals
"Fate is usually swift when she deals a blow."
-Baroness Orczy
You swallowed hard as your blue eyes scanned the room you were standing in. The stone walls were covered in colorful paintings and symbols you couldn't understand. The room was an open space, there was no walls separating you from the brisk evening air. A warm breeze blew past you, causing the white sheath curtains to flow in the air.
You eyed the setting sun, your heart yearning to be back with your friends...to be back with Yoongi. You had only arrived about seven hours ago, but you already hated it here. It was hot, and sandy.
Sure, this version of Jimin was nice, and kind to you, but he wasn't the Jimin you knew and that made all the difference.
You watched as Hoseok paced the floor nervously, running a hand through his dirty blond locks, as you all waited patiently for the pharaoh to allow you audience.
Jimin sat on a small bench, leaning against the painted wall, a calm look staying on his face, as he ran his fingers over Hoseok's report from earlier.
You nervously twiddled your thumbs, biting your lip in anxiety.
You had never met the Pharaoh, but from what you gathered he wasn't the easiest man to please. Jimin reassured you that you shouldn't be nervous, but the way Hoseok was pacing only fanned the flames.
Jimin's hand suddenly covered your own, stopping your thumbs from twiddling.
"Stop pacing, Hoseok." He said. "You're making her nervous."
The astronomer stopped his movement, eyes moving towards the high priest, then to you.
"She should be nervous." He started. "If the Pharaoh doesn't think she is a goddess, then she will be killed."
Your eyes widened.
"Wait. What?"
Jimin sighed heavily, squeezing your hands in reassurance.
"He isn't going to kill her."
Hoseok frowned.
"You know what the law says about divine impersonation. She-"
"She will be fine." Jimin interrupted. "Because she is a goddess."
You slowly pulled your hands away from his, causing his head to move in your general direction, his gray eyes searching blindly for you.
"He's right."You breathed. "I'm not a goddess. I've been trying to tell you that this whole time."
Jimin offered you a small smile.
"What is your name?" He asked.
You raised your eyebrows in confusion.
"What?"
Jimin chuckled.
"You haven't told us your name."
You cleared your throat awkwardly.
You hadn't told them your name. You must have forgotten. You had grown used to the other versions of them knowing your name...
"M-My name is Y/n."
The high priest tilted his head to the side.
"Well, Y/n....I have spent my whole life around the gods, giving offerings, worshiping, I have dedicated my whole life to knowing what is divine and what is human."
His hands traveled from yours to your face, cupping your cheeks gently.
"You are divine, even if you don't know it yet, you were sent here for a purpose. You have nothing to fear."
You nodded wide-eyed.
"O-Okay."
The sound of bare feet running against the limestone floor filled the air.
Jungkook rounded the corner breathlessly, his hair messy and his chest sweaty as he bent over and rested his hands on his knees.
Jimin looked around in curiosity at the servants arrival.
"You shouldn't run, if the task master saw you, you would get another beating."
Jungkook released a breathy chuckle, straightening out his posture.
"He would have to catch me first." He stated. "I ran because I didn't want you all to go in without me. I wanted to see the Pharaoh's reaction when he meets a goddess."
Hoseok scoffed.
"I imagine he'll try to bed her."
Jimin sent a disapproving glare to the dirty blond male.
"Hold your tongue. If anyone were to hear you speak ill of the Pharaoh, you would be put to death."
The astrologist lowered his head in shame.
"Apologies."
Jungkook's brown eyes fell to you, his gaze taking in your new appearance. You had changed into the clothes he gave you, which revealed slightly more skin than the garments you wore before. Your hair was now in a loose braid an cascaded down your neck, a few rebellious curls sticking out and framing your face. Your blue eyes were accented by the necklace you wore around your neck, the blue liquid contained in the small bottle catching his interest.
"The Pharaoh is ready to hear your audience."
Your blue eyes shot up to the guard who had just spoken, watching as he turned on his heel and reentered the room he had come out of.
You helped Jimin stand, his hand squeezing yours gently.
"Don't worry," He whispered. "Everything will be fine."
You gulped and nodded your head nervously, watching as Hoseok entered the room.
Jimin released your hand and guided himself along the walls, you slowly followed behind until you entered into a great room.
The walls were all painted as the others you had seen, different symbols and marks lining them.
A small pool was located in the middle of the room, steam rising from it's warm water as rose petals floated along the top.
Three girls sat in the pool, each of them wearing thin, white garments, that had become nearly see-through due to the water.Make-up was caked on their faces as they all stared at you curiously, watching as you walked past them.
The throne was slightly lifted above the rest of the room, resting a platform, with four stairs leading up to it.
The throne was made of pure gold, the top was embedded with rubies, sapphires and emeralds.
Neatly dressed servants stood all around the golden chair, one holding a plate of purple grapes, another holding a tray of golden chalices, which you assumed were filled with wine, and two more servants stood on either side of the throne, each one holding a large fan, which appeared to be made up of large, gray feathers.
People, who you assumed to be scribes and government officials sat on small pillows on the ground, small wooden tables placed in front of them for writing.
Your eyes searched the room for the Pharaoh, but all you could find were servants. Out of the corner of your eye you watched Jungkook hide behind one of the great pillars that lined the sides of the room.
He must not have been allowed in the throne room.
You leaned over to Hoseok.
"Where is the Pharaoh?"
He sighed heavily.
"Late."
Suddenly, the sound of feminine giggles filled the throne room, your gaze snapped over to the source, watching as a young woman, who looked to be close to your age, stumbled into the room, her brown eyes lit with amusement as she walked in drunkenly. To say that her clothes were revealing would've been an understatement. Her dress was a deep shade of green, slits ran up the sides of her dress, and stopped in the middle of her upper thigh. The top part was a deep V neck and left little to the imagination, her neck was adorned in a large golden necklace, and her hair was messy and tousled.
A deep chuckle followed after her, and your eyes widened as Taehyung walked into the room behind her, a huge smile on his face as he chased after her. His upper half was only covered by a blue, silk cloak, which was opened in the front, revealing his toned chest and torso, while a white kilt covered his muscular legs. His hair was now a shade of sandy blond, and it looked like he had just gone through a tornado.
You watched as Taehyung grabbed the giggling girls waist, pulling her close to him, and kissing down her neck acting like you didn't even exist. Did he have no shame?! He was sucking this girls face in front of the whole government and he acted like he didn't even care.
"It's times like this, that I'm glad I was born blind." Jimin whispered to you.
You watched in awe as everyone ignored what Taehyung was doing, acting as though it wasn't indecent or offensive for him to make out with a woman in front of god and everybody.
You suspected that it was fear that kept them from speaking, after all, Taehyung was the Pharaoh, and he could have them killed in an instant.
You couldn't take anymore of the disgusting display.
You cleared your throat loudly.
The room fell silent, everyone's eyes falling on you. With the looks they gave you, you probably should've been worried, but you weren't. You were here to speak with the Pharaoh, not be ignored.
Taehyung's lips finally left the girl, annoyance clear in his eyes as his brown gaze fell on you.
"Did you just interupt me?"
You opened your mouth to speak, but Jimin quickly beat you to the chase.
"My lord, Pharaoh. We have come for an audience with you. We bring you news of great importance."
Taehyung sighed boredly, moving to sit on his throne, pulling the young girl onto his lap as his servant popped a grape in his mouth.
"Speak, priest." Taehyung demanded as he chewed on the purple fruit.
You couldn't help but raise your eyebrows at his bratty behavior. This Taehyung was nothing like the one you had known before, he was arrogant and full of himself, while the other Tae was elegant and regal.
Jimin stepped forward nervously.
"Well you see, your highness, as of late, the heavens have been troubled, the stars have been disappearing from the night sky and the moon's cycle has been thrown out of balance. Hoseok has studied endlessly, but could not find a solution. We-"
Taehyung yawned dramatically.
"Your words bore me, priest." His brown eyes fell onto you, his tongue darting out to lick his lips as his eyes took in your body. "Why don't you just explain to me why this beautiful creature is here instead of in my bed chamber?"
You had to stop yourself from rolling your eyes, settling with sending him a hard glare.
Hoseok stepped forward.
"Great Pharaoh, we believe that this girl is the answer to solving the heavens. She was found in the Nile by a servant and her soul is stained with the color of the god's."
Taehyung's eyebrows raised in amusement, his hands shoving the girl in his lap onto the floor, as he stood up, slowly walking down the stairs and approaching you, his eyes raking over you from top to bottom and making you want to wash yourself in acid.
The sandy blond male stood in front of you, his hand slowly coming into contact with your upper arm as his finger tips grazed the soft skin of your shoulders.
"She does seem special." He stated lowly, his eyes falling to your chest. "And I don't just mean her eyes."
That was it, you couldn't take anymore of his crude remarks.
You stepped away from him, forcing his hands off of you.
"My eyes are up here." You stated harshly. "Stop eyeing me like I'm some piece of meat."
Hoseok's eyes were wide in terror at your words, the whole room falling silent.
Taehyung merely stared at you with childish amusement, a small smile pulling on his lips.
"I like you." He stated. "So much fire."
You scoffed and rolled your eyes.
"Why don't you stop being a pervert for five seconds and listen to what Hoseok is trying to tell you?"
Taehyung's eyebrows raised, his gaze falling onto the astronomer.
"First name basis." He warned quietly. "That is bold of you stargazer."
Hoseok gulped under Taehyung's fierce gaze, the Pharaoh obviously had taken a liking to you. He didn't like it when any of his "women friends" spoke to any other men, if one of his concubines even said another man's name, the man was either whipped or executed.
Taehyung sighed.
"Finish what you were saying, priest."
Jimin nodded.
"We believe her to be a goddess. I have felt her power first hand, and I have never felt anything more powerful, or strong as the energy radiating from her."
Taehyung nodded, his eyes never leaving yours.
"And have you seen her perform miracles? Has she raised anyone from the dead?"
Jimin's brows furrowed at the odd question.
"N-No. B-But I-"
The Pharaoh's laugh cut Jimin off.
"You are too easily fooled, priest. She is obviously playing some trick on your mind. You are too deep in religion to even notice that she is, in fact, human."
Jimin shook his head.
"She is a goddess, I would stake my life on it."
Taehyung raised an eyebrow, a large smile covering his face.
"Really?" He asked. "Then I propose a deal."
Jimin tilted his head, his gray eyes searching for Taehyung's body.
"A deal?" He inquired.
Taehyung nodded.
"I will give you one week, to prove to me that this woman is a goddess. I will provide her with everything she needs, she will dwell in the palace, in one of the finest rooms, and wear clothing fit for divine beings. But if she does not prove her power to me before the week is out, you will be tried and executed for blasphemy,"
His eyes moved to you.
"And I will have a new whore to play with."
Your eyes widened.
Surely Jimin wouldn't be stupid enough to-
"Very well." Jimin started.
"We have a deal."
