Chapter 22: Masters
"We will be the slave of many masters who is his body's slave."
-Lucius Annaeus Seneca
"I don't care! Find a way to get rid of him!"
Taehyung's deep voice roared throughout his chambers as he paced angrily around his room, his silk clothes ruffling with every step he took.
To say that the young Pharaoh was simply mad would be an understatement. He was practically fuming with pure, unadulterated rage.
Taehyung had never been one to remain calm and keep his composure, and today was no exception.
After Jimin showed up in the throne room, perfectly healthy and able to see, it had sparked the curiosity of the entire royal council. They ruled that you were, in fact, a goddess and that because he had lost the deal, Taehyung was not permitted to harm Jimin in any way.
This, of course, made Taehyung livid.
"Y-Your majesty," The young scribe started timidly. "You must understand that killing the high priest would be seen as treason and you would be executed."
A low growl escaped the Pharaoh's throat.
"Who does he think he is?! That little worm has no claim on my throne!"
The scrawny man cleared his throat nervously, his hands shaking.
"W-Well, you see...about that..."
Taehyung's kohl-stained eyes snapped to the man, fury swimming in his brown orbs.
"What?" he spat.
The man lowered his gaze, staring at the ground in fear.
"The council have reviewed the documents of his birth....and they are real, my lord...The priest is in fact, your older brother."
Taehyung's brows furrowed, his feet stopping in the middle of his room.
"My older brother?"
The young man nodded his head slowly.
"Y-Yes, Pharaoh."
The shock on his face was quickly replaced with a scowl of irritation.
"I do not care." He stated. "That does not change anything. He still has no claim."
The man gulped, his hands shaking even more as he stared at the intimidating man before him.
"The council is going to decide that."
The young Pharaoh's eyes widened.
"What!?"He roared.
The young man flinched at the loud tone.
"Jimin is the first son of your father...which means that he is technically heir to the throne."
Taehyung shook his head.
"My father disowned him when he was a child. I was the one suited and trained for this. Not him. He knows nothing of politics!"
"I-I'm afraid the council does not see it that way...they are seriously considering their options."
Taehyung stepped towards the young man, his tall frame towering over the younger man's.
"They cannot do this to me. This is my kingdom! Mine! If that whiny little brat wishes to take it from me, he shall have to kill me!"
The young man nodded slowly, his eyes falling to the ground.
"I understand, your highness. I-I am sure they will make the right decision and continue to allow you to rule.
"They had better."
Taehyung narrowed his eyes, sighing in annoyance as he tilted his head towards the bedroom door.
"Go find lady Y/n and bring her to me. We have much to discuss before the wedding."
He froze, his body shaking.
"Uhm..I-I-I cannot do that."
The Pharaoh tilted his head, his brows furrowing.
"Oh, you can't?"
"W-Well, you see-"
"Before you answer," Taehyung interrupted. "Let me explain to you that I do not like bad news...and I tend to get extremely angry when it is delivered...so if I were you, scribe, I would carefully consider my options before delivering bad news."
The scribe nodded his head, his eyes searching the room frantically.
"The-The council is not yet willing to accept your engagement to the young goddess."
"And why not?"
He gulped again, his heart pounding in his chest.
"B-Because...it is written that she shall wed the king of Egypt and as of right now....you are not the king."
Taehyung released a loud noise of anger, his hand shoot out and grabbing the scribe's scrawny neck and squeezing tightly, his kohl-stained eyes hardening as he watched him gasp for breath.
"What do you mean?!"He spat. "I have ruled this country for fifteen years! I am the king! They cannot take away my birthright simply because a crippled fool throws down a birth certificate!"
The young scribe nodded his head desperately, his voice coming out in gasps.
"Y-Yes you are. The-The council are just following protocol, that-that's all."
Taehyung growled angrily, throwing the young man onto the ground.
"I want to see my bride, and I want to see her now."
The young man coughed on the floor, his hands wrapping around his throat where Taehyung had squeezed mercilessly.
"Th-They are not permitting you to see her. Neither you or the high priest are allowed to speak to her until the whole ordeal is settled."
Taehyung glared at the scribe, his jaw clenching in anger.
He would find a way to see you, even if he had to sneak out in the middle of the night. You were his property and he wasn't going to let some minor set back like this keep him from you. The council were fools, each and every one of them. If they wished for Taehyung to play along, then he was happy to play their stupid game, but he would not be kept away from what he truly wanted......You.
"Leave me." He commanded.
The young scribe was happy to oblige.

"I just want to see him. It won't take long, I swear."
Yoongi released a heavy sigh as he walked beside you, his tangled, raven locks clinging to his head from the perspiration of his training that morning.
"I am sorry. You know that I cannot allow you to do that. I am burdened with the task of watching you, woman, and I intend to keep myself and you out of trouble."
You frowned.
"But this is crazy!"You argued. "I-If Jimin is alive I should be able to at least speak with him for a few minutes!"
The solider turned the corner with you, his hazel eyes scanning your annoyed features.
"The council has strictly prohibited any contact that you may have with the high priest or the Pharaoh, it is for your own good."
You huffed in annoyance and crossed your arms over your chest.
Obviously there was no getting through to Yoongi. He was a soldier and he was trained not to break under pressure.
"Where are we going anyway?"
The raven-haired man tapped his fingers on the hilt of his sword as he walked.
"You will be staying with the royal treasurer for the time being."
You tilted your head in curiosity.
"Namjoon? But why?"
Yoongi shook his head, shrugging his shoulders.
"My assumption is that the council are asking you to stay near the gold so that you can use your "divine power" to multiply the wealth of Egypt. And they cannot allow you to stay in the Pharaoh's chambers while the trial is still going on."
You nodded your head slowly.
"I suppose I understand that."
Yoongi studied you for a moment. They way you nervously fiddled with your hands, the way you avoided eye contact with him.....It was as though you, yourself were shaken by Jimin's return. But surely that couldn't be...After all, you were the one that brought him back...at least, that is what everyone seemed to believe. Yoongi, however, was extremely skeptical about the entire ordeal. He had never believed in the "gods". There was always a rational explanation for everything.
The young soldier wasn't as shaken by Jimin coming back as everyone else was. He was shocked, of course, and if he were honest, he definitely wasn't expecting it...but he was sure that there was a rational reason....maybe he had taken some new kind of medicine that cured him...and gave him back his sight.
The gods didn't exist.
Right?
He shook his head, ridding himself of the thought.
There were no gods. Only humans. You were only human and he knew that...That is why he was so careful about protecting you. You were not some immortal being, to him you were fragile and easily broken...You were too precious for this world to harm, and he knew that. Which is why he was always trying to keep you out of trouble.
Yoongi suddenly stopped walking, his hazel eyes moving over to you, watching as you eyed him curiously.
"What's wrong?" You asked.
He released a heavy sigh.
"I realize that you wish to see the high priest, your curiosity is understandable....But please, do not try anything. If you were to be discovered...the council would not be happy with you. You would risk their wrath."
You nodded your head slowly, blue eyes falling to the ground.
"Okay."
The raven-haired man watched you intently.
"I am not trying to dictate your life." He stated softly, his hand moving to raise your chin, causing your bright blue eyes to meet his. "I am trying to keep you safe and away from trouble. There is no doubt in my mind that Jimin and the Pharaoh will both try to meet with you in secret, but you must refuse them...You could be punished if you were found out."
He paused for a moment, his eyes scanning your face as he slowly stepped closer to you.
"There is an evil in this land." He whispered. "The people have reported their dead relatives missing from their graves, they claim that they have seen them walk as the living-dead. I have seen things. Terrible things. Things that I would do anything to protect you from....The palace is the safest place to be right now...If you get into trouble with the council, they could throw you out onto the streets....and I do not want you to end up like those people."
You slowly nodded your head, your eyes wide as you took in his words that seemed to be laced with terror, and your heart racing at his close proximity.
"I-I'll stay out of trouble."
A sigh of relief left his parted lips at your words, his lips gently touching your forehead in a soft kiss.
"Good." He breathed. "I would hate for anything to happen to you, woman."

"It seems like the young goddess has finally proven her worth."
The deep voice spoke from the darkness.
"I believe it is time to put our plan into play" He stated as his dark orbs moved over to look at his undead ruler. "You shall have your bride in your grasp soon enough...Master."
A/N,
Heh heh. You guys thought ChimChim was actually gone? Not a chance.
