Chapter 28

4:00 pm

"Khushi kaha hai ma? (Where is Khushi?) Arnav asked.

"I don't know. I haven't seen her for long."

"What! But she was here in the morning."

"I think she left when we all came in the morning."

"And you didn't see her at all untill now? You didn't inform me that you haven't seen her?" He panicked and tried getting down from the bed.

"Calm down Chotte!" Ratna made him lay down.

"How can I Ma? I don't know where she is.. How she is.. Is she safe?" The mere thought caught his attention. "What if she is in danger!"

"No. Chotte, you're overthinking. She might be in canteen or maybe went home. I will send Akash to check on her. You calm down." Ratna dialled Akash's cell and asked him to find Khushi.

"See I told Akash to find her. Now you need to rest."

"I am fine Ma. I wanna go home."

"Soon we will go and we even need to have a talk on this."

"Ma, Khushi ko pehli nazar mei dekhte hi pyaar hogya tha usse. Pta nhi kya hai us mei, joh mujhe acha lga par bs ab usse jane nhi dunga mei-" (Mom, I fell for her by looking at her for the first time. I don't know what she has in her, that I like so much but now I ain't letting her go anywhere.)

"Remember Chotte, she is married."

"But she isn't happy in the marriage. Her husband tried to rape her with his friends Ma. She will divorce him soon. She loves me Ma. She told me."

"Chotte, are you sure about this girl?"

"What do you wanna say Ma?"

"See Chotte, I know she is  married, has a husband... But before all that she is daughter of someone. We aren't someone to decide about her! Are you getting me?"

"But Ma, her family isn't good with her. You know about that. She told us about their ill treatment with her and all. Then what?"

"Chotte, no matter what, family comes first. What if you marry her now and her husband and family comes questioning you and put false allegations on you?"

"They won't do it Ma. And anyways she will be divorcing her husband." He looked confused.

"Do you think it would be that easy to get a divorce from that man. Do you think he would leave her that easily?"

"What do you mean?" He asked and Ratna sighed.

"You need to rest. We will talk later." Ratna left the room.

"Aman, what have you two decided?" Nani asked.

Anjali leaned her head on his shoulder and Aman held her hand in his.

"We aren't divorcing. We want to give us a chance." Aman looked at Anjali and smiled.

Ratna smiled but glared at Anjali.

"You need to change your ways now. Stop with all these pooja's. Limit them to an extent and give time to yourself and him. What has it done to your relationship, you have seen. I hope this has put some sense in you." Ratna scolded her and Anjali nodded.

"Ma, now I will look into everything. I swear we will sort everything and talk it out if we fight." Aman assured her.

A few days later.

Arnav has been discharged and is resting at home for few more days with Ratna nursing him.

"Open." Ratna asked him to open his mouth to which he refused and turned away.

"Fine. One more day added to not going to office." She shrugged her shoulders.

"Ma." He whined like a kid and reluctantly opened his mouth to feed himself the sick food, or so he called.

"That's like a good boy."

"I am no more a boy but a man." He narrowed his eyes at her in anger.

"Ohh, I heard someone saying that they remain a kid untill they marry." Ratna replied with a small smile playing on her lips and forwarded another spoon.

Arnav remembered it and tried hard hiding his blush.

"Cat got your tongue!" She mumbled loud enough for him to hear.

"I heard." He grumbled.

"Ohh my bad." She covered her mouth in fake surprise.

"Please no more." He literally begged her to stop feeding him.

"I see, babysitting him again Ma." Aman entered with Anjali beside him.

"Shut up." Arnav threw a glare his way.

"Grumpy pants." Anjali shook her head and kept the plate of fruits near Ratna.

"He needs Khushi in his life." Aman commented making Arnav glare at him hard.

"Oh sorry, I meant to say happiness and not Khushi, my sister." He corrected himself and looked away trying hard to stiff his laugh.

"Yeah!" Arnav scoffed.

"Enough boys. Get back to your room and freshen up Aman, Anjali go." Ratna dismissed them. Sticking his tongue at Arnav, Aman held Anjali and left.

"Ma, please just one hour and I will be done. Pkka promise." He pinched his throat.

"Nope." She said extending the plate of fruits his way.

"No. I am full." Ratna sighed at his stubborn son.

"Fine. But only one hour." He smiled brightly and nodded. Patting his cheek lovingly, she said him to finish his fruits plate.

Quickly picking up his laptop he emerged himself back to work. It has been few weeks being detached from work and he was going mad. Work has been like a drug to him to keep him sane.

Replying to emails and making presentation for the upcoming meetings was all he needed to relax. Although he has recovered cent percent, according to him, he wants to go back to office but his mother was a strict one. Still treat him like a 10 years old kid.

Everything is back on track, Khushi is back being his secretary. Aman is handling the company rather perfectly and as well as his married life. The elders are happy with the progress in their relationship.

Khushi. The name is enough to send a calming sensation through him. Her criminals are yet to be held and put behind bars but for now she is safe as she is back in home.

Ratna made her swear on herself to either agree to stay back in Shantivan or she would never see her in life. That was it for her to agree. Being the poor soul, she shifted immediately afraid of losing someone again in her life.

She denied filing a case against her husband but Aman made her understand and she agreed. She even agreed on divorcing him.

Sighing, Arnav wanted to call her but thought otherwise. Debating on whether calling or not he called her.

"Hey."

"Hi sir. Need anything?" She replied. He face-palmed himself when she addressed him 'sir'.

"No. How is everything there? Anything, I need to know?"

"Nothing much sir. Just that you have a meeting lined up with Mr. Cullen next week. They need to discuss about something on the quality of the material."

"Hmm. That's all?"

"Yes sir."

"Ok. Then Bye?"

"Bye sir."

"Don't call me sir Khushi. I told you to call me Arnav." He couldn't contain himself from correcting her.

"Sorry sir, I mean... Arnav". He mentally voiced out his name rolling out of her tongue. And the mere thought of it made him blush.

"That's like my girl." He replied happily.

"Sorry?"

"Err... I mean good. Get back to work." He quickly dismissed the call and smiled shyly.
