"I-I'm going to be free Yoongi-Hyung."
Yoongi was shocked as he heard the words Jimin spoke, the younger spirit smiling as tears pricked at his eyes. "He said he loves me. He says that it's only fair to let me go, t-that it would be selfish to keep me to himself."
Never in his (after)life has Yoongi ever heard of a killer turning them self in because they love a spirit. He's seen a spirit manipulate their killer into turning them self in, he's seen a spirit scare their killer... But fall in love with them? Never.
Jimin was something else entirely.
"When?" The older spirit asked, Jimin smiling sadly and sticking out his hand.
"Really soon I suppose. Look." Yoongi looked down at the orange haired spirit's hand and his eyes widened slightly, noticing the fairly translucent look it had in comparison to his own. He's seen many sprits come and go in his time so he knew well what it meant.
Jimin would be gone soon.
The younger of the two was surprised when Yoongi pulled him into a hug, burying his head into Jimin's shoulder and resting his arms around his waist.
"I know I've been a bit of an ass to you Jimin, but I just didn't get it. H-How could you love someone who hurt you so much?" Yoongi's words were muffled slightly against his shoulder, Jimin smiling and resting his arms upon the older's shoulders. "But that day I saw you walking with him, God you looked so happy. You practically glowed when he looked at you and.. I was jealous Jimin."
"You were jealous?" Jimin absentmindedly played with the hair at the nape of Yoongi's neck as they both swayed back and forth gently. "Why?"
The older spirit sighed.
"I never had the chance to tell the person I love my feelings before I died." He whispered. "He was the only person I ever loved and I've always hated myself for putting off my confession. You and Jungkook looked so happy together and I just.. I knew that's what I missed out on by not saying anything."
"Hyung it's not your fault." Jimin sighed. Yoongi had never really opened up to him, so it was new to see the older spirit so emotional. "You were waiting until you were ready, you couldn't possibly tell the future and know that your time alive would be cut short. Don't blame yourself alright?"
Yoongi nodded weakly and pulled away from Jimin, wiping his eyes.
"I haven't even known you as long as I've known some of the other spirits here but I'm going to miss you so much." He sniffled, "Like I'm happy your spirit is moving on but, you brightened up this entire place Jimin. Jeonghan was talking to Mark and I yesterday about how you just know how to make everyone happier. Which is true, and I think I'll miss that the most."
Jimin wiped at his eyes and chuckled softly.
"I never knew you had such a soft side Yoongi-Hyung." He grinned, the older spirit laughing softly as well.
"Only for you, Park. Only for you."
--
"You were right Mark-Hyung. I guess he did love me that much."
Mark gasped softly as he noticed the translucent appearance of the familiar spirit who stood before him, walking over to Jimin and pulling him in for a hug.
"This is a first for me you know? Never in my time here have I seen a spirit form a relationship with their killer like you have." He sighed, pulling away and patting the shorter spirit's shoulder. "You'll probably go down in history here you know? The spirit who fell in love with his killer. Making history Jimin."
Jimin laughed, crossing his arms.
"Can I count on you to tell my tale long after I'm gone?" He asked, Mark nodding and chuckling softly.
"You sure can. It'll be the story I tell to get the younger spirits to settle down." He answered, Jimin shaking his head and smiling.
"I've got a legacy going for me here."
"You're a tough one to forget Jimin."
The younger spirit couldn't help but tackle Mark into another hug, Mark smiling and rubbing Jimin's back. "I'm gonna miss you, but I'm happy you're finally getting what's best for you. There's a lot of theories on where spirits go after they've been set free and I can't say I fully believe only one of them, so I wish you the best in everything you might encounter."
The orange haired spirit nodded, sighing into Mark's shoulder before pulling away and wiping his teary eyes.
"Thanks for always helping me out you know? I probably would've been lost without you." Jimin smiled sadly, Mark returning the expression.
"It was my pleasure, I'm glad I got to meet you."
--
"Jimin! It's happening to you to?"
Jimin smiled sadly as Jeonghan grabbed his hand, comparing the less than opaque tone of their skin.
"I-I've been meaning to tell you this but I never did, because I knew you'd think I was insane, maybe even get mad at me but.." Jimin sighed, "The same person killed both you and me, and he's turning himself in because... he loves me."
Jeonghan's eyes widened and he stepped back, furrowing his eyebrows as he processed Jimin's words.
"He loves you? So is that where you go all the time? To go have cute little dates with a murderer? The person who killed both of us?" Jimin nodded, the other spirit looking at him incredulously. "Why?"
"He's nice." Jimin shrugged, "And in all honestly I'll probably miss him."
Jeonghan opened his mouth to speak, but Jimin interrupted him before he could. "I know you think it's probably the craziest thing you've ever heard but it's benefiting you, you know? When I first met him he was the most cold hearted person I think I've met, who knows how long he would've kept killing?"
Jeonghan's face softened.
"So I guess I should be thanking you then?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. The other spirit shook his head.
"No need."
"So we're good then?"
"I would hope so."
--
"Why are you here?"
Jimin had searched for nearly a half hour for Jungkook, after not being able to find the boy once he returned home. He never expected to find him sitting at the spirit's grave.
His hair was messy, eyes looking tired and contrasting the bright smile he flashed the spirit.
"I wanted to pay my respects." He answered, Jimin raising an eyebrow.
"Why don't you just say whatever you need to say to my face?" He asked, Jungkook standing up and wiping the dirt off of his pants.
"I need to get used to not having you around Jimin-Hyung." The smile he had on his face was now one Jimin could recognize as undeniably sad. He stepped forward and took Jungkook's hand in his, the younger's eyes widening as he did. "You're fading away."
Nodding, Jimin reached up and wiped the few tears that were able to escape Jungkook's eyes.
"It's a good thing Jungkookie, trust me." He leaned forward and the younger's eyes widened as he felt Jimin's cold lips on his cheek. "You'll miss me right? Because it'll be awkward if I miss you and you don't miss me back."
Jungkook smiled softly, bringing his hand up to feel the spot Jimin's lips touched.
"How could I not?"
Jimin sighed and grabbed hold of Jungkook's wrist as he began to walk way from where his tombstone stood.
"We should go. It looks like it's about to rain."
---
They were both quiet, the slight hum of Jungkook's air conditioner being the only sound as he and Jimin lay beside each other in the younger's bed. They were about an arms length apart, at least they were until Jimin slid closer and stared into Jungkook's eyes.
"I really do love you Jungkook." He whispered, the younger feeling his stomach flutter at the spirit's words.
"I love you too." He responded, moving closer as well and resting his hand on top of Jimin's.
Jungkook watched Jimin's every move as the spirit's hand weaved into his hair, leaning close until their noses touched. He could feel Jimin's breath against his lips, the air around him seeming to increase in temperature; he and Jimin had never gotten this close after all.
That being the reason the younger couldn't help but gasp as Jimin's cold lips finally touched his, responding immediately and bringing his hands down to where he gripped the other's waist. Sure, he'd kissed Jimin's forehead before, and Jimin had kissed his cheek as well; but this was new.
Jimin's lips were just as soft as he imagined, sucking on Jungkook's bottom lip softly as his hands moved to the younger's shoulder's.
And everything seemed to disappear around them. It was if they weren't parting ways anymore. As if nothing could separate them. With Jimin's lips on his and his small hands gripping the back of his shirt, it was if they'd be together forever.
They wouldn't be, however, and they both knew that.
But that wouldn't stop them from pretending.
