Chapter Twenty One - "No Sex!"

Avery's P.O.V

"Oh this pizza is so good." Ryan moans as he continues to stack his plate with half of the pizza slices. I hit his hand and push him away.

"Hands off, I want the last piece when I come back." I say, narrowing my eyes at Ryan and he smirks, his hand reaching out to grab the last piece and I grab his hand, bending it backwards.

"I will break your fingers." I threaten and Ryan snatches his hand out of my grip, walking to the couch to watch the movie that is playing; Tomorrow When The War Began.

I walk upstairs and walk into my room, ignoring my phone that is flashing with a message. I open the cupboard and pull out my pajama shorts and a singlet. Yes, this is what I usually wear so calm down.

When I finally put on my pajamas, I grab my phone that is still flashing. I notice that it's a message from Emma.

Emma: Can I come over?

Me: Yeah sure. Joshua's home.

Emma: Okay cool.

I place my phone on the desk and walk back down the stairs and when I enter the kitchen, I stop in my tracks when I see Ryan eating the last slice of pizza.

"Ryan!" I scream, running towards him. Ryan holds his hands up in surrender and I grab Ryan's hands, bending them both back. Ryan squeals in pain and I raise my knee to his balls, hitting them hard.

"I'm sor - oh fuck!" Ryan groans, his body sinking to the ground. I grin and crouch down to his height and pat his cheek.

"Now, you my friend should know that I love my food very dearly so don't pull a trick like that again otherwise I will destroy you." I say, flashing him an innocent smile. Ryan glares at him and sticks up his middle finger.

"You bitch." He mutters and I tap his nose.

"Get well soon." I say, standing back up. I walk over to the freezer and pull out a tub of icecream that I haven't seen in my life.

"Thats mine!" I hear Ryan say and I close the freezer, looking at my neighbor with a grin.

"Thank you for this wonderful treat." I say, grabbing out a spoon. I walk over to the couch and sit down, starting to dig into the icecream.

Okay, I know I shouldn't be drowning my pain and guilt with icecream but I can't help it. Icecream seems to tempting right now so I just decided to go along with my needs and eat icecream.

I hear a knock at the door and I let out a sigh. That's probably Emma. I get up and place my icecream on the coffee table in front of me and make my way to the door.

I open the door and smile at Emma and Elena who are both grinning up at me. "Well, hello." I say as I let them both in. Elena skips to the stairs, probably going to see River who is watching a movie in my room. Emma makes her way to the kitchen and stops when she sees Ryan.

"Who are you?" Emma asks and Ryan stands up, pulling up his jeans. I chuckle when he shoots me a glare.

"I'm this chick's neighbor. Who are you?" Ryan asks and Emma takes a seat at the table.

"Emma." She mutters and Ryan nods, walking to the couch to probably retrieve the icecream. I sit at the table with Emma and I can't help but let out a sigh.

"Joshua told me about you two." I start off and Emma looks up at me, her bright green eyes shining as the light hits them.

"Really?" Emma asks and I smile, nodding.

"Yeah, he basically said-"

"I wouldn't do that." I hear Joshua say as he makes his way into the kitchen and I let out a chuckle as he hugs Emma from behind, making a small blush appear on Emma's face.

God, my brother is such a douche but I guess he changes when he is with Emma. Emma obviously means something to my little brother.

"Let's go watch a movie." Joshua says and Emma looks up at him, slightly confused.

"Here or..." Emma asks and Joshua grins.

"Where ever you'd prefer, princess." Joshua says and Emma smiles.

"Here will be fine." Emma says as she stands up. Joshua nods and grabs her hand, leading her up to his bedroom.

"No sex!" I hear Ryan shout out and I laugh when I hear Joshua groan. I can imagine him just rolling his eyes at Ryan.

"Was that necessary?" I ask Ryan as he sits at the table, opposite from me. I reach out and grab his icecream with has the spoon in it too. Ryan narrows his eyes at me and takes it back.

"Was that necessary?" Ryan asks, referring to the fact that I had just taken his icecream. I nod and stand up, walking to the fridge to grab something to eat for dinner since my parents weren't going to be home until tomorrow morning. Something about late night at work, I don't know.

So that means that Aunty Heather - who is probably sleeping right now - is our 'guardian' for tonight. I don't see how she can be our guardian since she is asleep but who cares. Ryan and I are old enough to look after ourselves. I don't know about Joshua though since he is a major worry.

I let out a sigh when I can't find anything to eat. Well, there is plenty of food but I have to be in the mood for something; like icecream but Ryan has to be an ass and eat it all like the fat pig he is.

"Is your mom home?" I ask Ryan as I take a seat at the table once again. Ryan looks up at me with his eyebrows furrowed.

"Well, if my mom was home right now, I wouldn't be over here." Ryan says and I sigh. "Why, don't you want me around?" Ryan adds and I shrug.

"No and yes." I say and Ryan chuckles.

"Well that explains a lot, doesn't it?" Ryan says and I roll my eyes, resting my chin on my arms as I look at Ryan with a small frown.

"I'm not much of a talker." I say and Ryan raises his eyebrows. He opens his mouth to say something but goes against it. I notice that the grin that was once on his face go into a small smile.

"You want icecream?" Ryan asks, pushing the tub to me and look at it for a while before nodding. I grab a spoon out of the drawer behind me and scoop up some of the icecream, letting it melt into my mouth.

"Now smile." Ryan says and I furrow my eyebrows at him.

"Why?" I ask once I have swallowed the icecream. Ryan rest his chin on his hand which is being held up by his elbow that is on the table.

"Because you look sad. I'm used to seeing you all smiley and happy." Ryan says and I roll my eyes.

I was happy once but now, my happiness has no reason to be shine when the person that once had such a huge impact on my life isn't here with me.

And that person is Logan.

"Nah." I mumble, taking another scoop of icecream in my mouth. Ryan sighs and digs his own spoon into the icecream.

"Go call him." Ryan says and I sigh, shaking my head.

"What good would that do?" I say and Ryan shrugs.

"I'm only trying to help." Ryan says and I rest my head on my arms that are folded on the table and I close my eyes.

"No one can help the pain and misery that is inside of me." I mumble before falling asleep on the table.

"I'm pregnant." I hear a voice say behind me and I turn around to see Logan and Katie standing in front of each other with small smiles on their faces.

"Another child? Oh I'm so happy." Logan says and I bite my lip, watching as the two kiss in front of me. I shake my head and look away, running out of the classroom.

"Avery!" I hear someone say but I ignore them, continuing to run away from the happy couple I saw a few seconds ago.

"Avery!" The person shouts again and I groan, running towards my car.

"Avery, wake up!" I hear the same person shout and I open my eyes to see a boy towering over me with a frown on his face.

"Oh my god, your okay." Joshua says ans I narrow my eyes at him in confusion. What does he mean 'I'm okay'? What, did I die? Am I in heaven?

Nope. If my brother is here, I'm definitely in hell.

"What?" I ask, sitting up slowly. I notice that Ryan is leaning against the door frame with a small smile on his face. I rest my back against the headboard and let out a sigh, running my hands through my hair.

"You had a nightmare. You were screaming 'no' and 'I hate you' at the top of your lungs. Your lucky that girls are still asleep." Joshua explains, referring to River and Aunty Heather and I sigh again.

"I'm just stressed." I say and Joshua smiles.

"Thats why I called the only person who I thought could help you." Joshua says and I frown, looking at Ryan.

"Him?" I ask, pointing to Ryan and they both laugh, shaking their head.

"No. Logan." Joshua says and he starts to make his way out of my room and Ryan follows behind him. Suddenly, I see Logan enter my room and I gap.

Ignoring my head which is currently screaming 'hate him', I jump out of bed and run towards him, attacking him in a hug.

The words that Aunty Heather had told me long ago appear in my mind and I smile.

"Never go to sleep on bad terms with someone you care about, just fix it. Swallow your pride and move on because they could be gone tomorrow."

As much as I wanted to hate him, I couldn't bring myself to do that because if I faked my hatred, I could lose Logan... forever.

And to be honest, I didn't want that at all.
