Chapter Thirty One
Chapter Thirty One - "I Have An Idea."
___
Avery's P.O.V
"We have to do something about Jade." I hear my father say to my mom. I lean against the kitchen door, continuing to listen to their conversation.
"I know but what can we do? We can't just tell the police that Jade is going to get our granddaughter because what proof do we have? The messages, yes, but from what I can remember, it didn't say anything direct about taking River." My mom explains and I hear my father groan.
"Well they better do something! I am not going to sit here, pretend to play happy families because do you see anyone happy? We are all stressing out because of that damn girl who should be behind bars for life!" My father shouts and my mom sighs.
"Its all my fault." My mom says in a low whisper. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion and take in my mom's words.
"What do you mean it's your fault?" My father asks, his tone back to his more calmer one.
"I didn't raise Jade right. I didn't show her that I loved her. I sent her away when she should've stayed with me." My mom says and I bite my lip when I hear my mom begin to sob.
"No, Danielle. It's not your fault. No one is to blame for how Jade turned out. I mean, look at Avery and Joshua. They are totally different... well, when they were younger but you know what I mean." My father chuckles, trying to get my mom to laugh but I just hear her continue to sob.
I hear my father sigh. "Avery, you can come in." I hear my father say and my eyes widen. I push the door open and frown at my father.
"How did you-"
"Elephant feet, sweetheart. You and I are the only people in the family who have it." My father says, wiggling his foot and I huff in annoyance, crossing my arms over my chest. I hear my mom laugh at my father's words and my father smiles.
"There we go." My father says and my mom smiles, wiping away her tears. I take a seat at the table and look between my parents, wanting them to stir the conversation back to Jade.
"So what do we do about Jade?" My mom asks after a few seconds of silence and my father shrugs.
"I have an idea." I say and both my parents look at me, curiosity clear in their eyes.
"Go on." My father says and I nod.
"We could ring her parole officer." I say and my father rolls his eyes.
"We don't have the number to ring her parole officer, Avery." My father says and I grin, leaning back in my chair.
"You two don't but I know someone who does."

I get off Logan's bike and walk up to the door with Logan walking behind me. I knock loudly on the door and cross my arms over my chest, waiting for Patrick's guards to open the door.
After a few seconds, the door swings open, revealing a big guy in black. His face is emotionless and when he looks down at us, I decide to speak up.
"Let us see Patrick." I say and the guy looks like he is about to say something until a familiar face appears in front of me.
"Patrick," I breathe out. Patrick motions for us to come in and as I walk past the big guy, I stick the finger up at him and look away, not bothering to see how he will react. Patrick walls into the room we were in before and I take a seat in the chair while Logan takes the seat in the chair beside me.
"What can I do for you?" Patrick asks, leaning in his chair and before I can say anything, Logan does.
"We need Jade's parole officer's number." Logan says and Patrick nods. He turns to the two guys behind him and points to the door.
"Liverdale prison. Find the inmate Jade Leighton and tell me who her parole officer is." Patrick says and the two guys instantly leave the room. All of a sudden, like last time, two other guys come and replace the two guys who just left and I can't help but scoff.
"Do these guys get paid for standing there and protecting you?" I ask Patrick and he nods.
"Five thousand dollars." He replies smoothly and both Logan and I jump from our chairs.
"What the actual fuck?" I snap, my eyes wide.
"Can you, like, give some money to me?" Logan asks and Patrick let's out a laugh.
"All you had to do was ask. Besides, I didn't give you two a gift for the birth of your child." Patrick says and I look over at Logan, a frown etched on my face.
"Well, in that case, you should give him extra because he has two children." I say with a small scoff and Logan runs a hand down his face.
"Really, sunshine?" Logan asks and all of a sudden, my heart begins to beat face at the nickname that Logan used to call me and still has been.
What the hell is wrong with me?
"Who is the other chick?" Patrick asks and the look on Logan's face tells me to not tell him but I ignore him, looking over at Patrick.
"Katie Holmes." I say and Patrick's eyes widen in surprise. He looks over at his cousin with an amused grin on his face.
"How do I not know this?" Patrick asks and Logan groans.
"Can we just drop it?" Logan asks and Patrick shakes his head.
"You know, I always imagined you having kids but with two different girls? Ha, that must suck." Patrick says and Logan shoots him a glare.
"Shut up, Patrick."
"Fine, fine. But no, Avery, I'm not giving him extra because he has to be rewarded with that and having a kid to some... cheerleading whore is most definitely not rewarding." Patrick says with a chuckle and I smirk.
So someone actually agrees that Katie is a whore other than Claire?
I look over at Logan to see him glaring at me. I send him a smile and before I can say a word to him, the door opens and the two guys from before walk in, making the two guys that replaced them walk out. The door closes again and the guys walk over to their spots after placing a small piece of paper on the table. Patrick picks it up and nods.
"This is what you are looking for." Patrick says, sliding the paper across the table and I reach over and grab it. I hold the paper in my hand and stand up.
"Thanks, Patrick." I say and just before we leave, Patrick calls our names.
"The money will be in your bank accounts later tonight." Patrick says and I smile and walk out of the room, heading towards the door. Logan follows me out and when we are standing at his bike, I turn over to him, the smile still on my face. I hold my hand up, ready for a hi-five.
"We did it!" I say, waiting for Logan to touch his hand with mine but when he doesn't, I roll my eyes and tap my other hand with the hand that I am holding up.
"Okay then." I say, turning back around and grabbing the helmet. Before I can put it on though, Logan grabs my wrist and spins me around, the helmet falling out of my hand and dropping onto the floor.
I look up at Logan and frown. "What was that for?" I ask and Logan narrows his eyes at me.
"You really have to drop Katie out of every conversation." Logan says and I raise a brow.
"Why? I mean, she is the mother to your kid-"
"And your also the mother of my baby girl. So, I suggest that you just stop talking about her if you want me in your life." Logan says and I let out a laugh.
"Excuse me? If you don't remember, you came into my life. You pleaded for forgiveness. You, you, you! It had and always has been all about you! Never has it ever been about Katie, me or River. It's been about what you want." I say, snatching my hand out of Logan's grip.
"Because I love you for fuck sake! I have been trying to make things right because I love you but of course you are too worried about Katie to even remember that!" Logan says and I clench my jaw.
"And the day that I told you I was in love with you was the day that you couldn't change anything! You fucked that slut and now your the father of her child and mine! You already fucked up, Logan! You can't fix that!" I scream, tears forming in my eyes and when Logan's features soften, I push him away and begin to walk to the direction of my house.
I know I live far away from here but I don't feel like talking to him anymore. He just does my head in.
"Avery," Logan calls and I flip him off.
"Leave me alone!" I scream and before I know it, Logan's hands grip at my waist and turn me around. All of a sudden, his lips crash onto mine and the tears begin to fall.
Without thinking, I kiss him back and wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me.
Why the hell am I so bi-polar? One minute, I don't want to be near Logan then the next, I am kissing him back!
Wait...
Is it because... I am falling for Logan again?

Yay, another chapter. I'm sorry it has taken so long but I am busy with work and school and just life in general. Honestly, I just want one of those big bubble things so I can have my own space from anyone.
Don't forget to vote and comment, people!
