Chapter Ten - "I Love You, Logan."

Avery's P.O.V

"Avery, your phone is ringing!" I hear my mom shout from upstairs and I sigh, giving River an apologetic smile.

"I'll be right back, okay?" I say and pause the money. River nods and I quickly jog upstairs to my room where I see my phone on the bed. I sigh and grab my phone, accepting the call.

"Who is this?" I ask and I hear a small laugh escape the person's mouth.

"Your knight in shinning armor, sunshine." Logan says and I sigh, sitting on my bed.

"What do you want?" I ask and I hear Logan sigh.

"Can I come over? I need to talk to you." Logan says and I frown.

"My mom is home." I say and suddenly, I hear my mom shout from downstairs.

"Avery, I'm going to the store!" I hear my mom shout and I bite my tongue from shouting out 'curse you and your timing'.

"By the sound of it, your mom won't be home for quite a while." Logan says and I roll my eyes.

"Ten minutes maximum, Logan." I say and I can practically hear Logan smile.

"Won't be a second longer."

I hear a knock at the door and River jumps up in curiosity. I nod my head to the door and River runs, grabbing the handle and pulling the door open.

"Logan!" She squeals and I turn my head and watch as Logan steps in, picking River up. He closes the door behind him and makes his way over to the couch where I am sitting and sits down next to me.

"Thanks for letting me come over." I say and I watch as River rests her head on Logan's shoulder, her eyes slipping shut. I nod and fold my left leg over my right.

"Yeah yeah, what do you want?" I ask, getting to the point. Logan starts to rub River's back and he let's out a sigh.

"I want you to come with me to a party tomorrow." Logan says and I narrow my eyes at him.

"Why?" I ask and Logan waves me off.

"Its not a teenage party, it's Drew's birthday tomorrow and I'm throwing him a party." Logan says and I raise my eyebrow.

"Again, why do you want me to come?" I ask and Logan places a hand on my knee, sending me a small smile.

"Because I think it would be fun for River. Besides, I always want to spend time with the mother of my child too." Logan says, sending me a wink and I roll my eyes.

"Logan, you don't understand that Katie and I do not get along with each other. Besides, I am not a family member nor a friend so I don't see why you want me to come." I say and Logan raises his eyebrow.

"Who said Katie will annoy you? If she starts, I'll stay with you. Look, who cares if your not a relative or a friend, I would like you and River to come tomorrow." Logan explains and I narrow my eyes at him.

"You promise Katie won't come near me? I swear, I won't hesitate to set her hair on fire with a candle if she starts." I say and Logan chuckles.

"Yes, she won't be anywhere to be seen. If she does start, I will have to hold you back though as I can't let the children see a feisty mom like yourself set Drew's mother on fire." Logan grins and I roll my eyes.

"One condition." I say and Logan nods.

"Anything."

"Anyone hurts River or says anything about me, River and I are leaving straight away." I say and Logan nods and small grin on his lips.

"Does this mean you'll will come with me?" Logan asks and I roll my eyes.

"No I'm just saying all this because I'm bored." I say sarcastically and Logan pats my knee, nodding.

"Thank you, Avery." Logan says and I nod, moving his hand away from my leg. I stand and hold my hands out.

"River." I say and Logan stands up, towering over me.

"Do you mind if I put her to bed? I mean, I am the parent too." Logan says and I roll my eyes again, walking behind Logan who is walking up the stairs with a sleeping River in his arms.

"Down the hall, Logan." I say as Logan makes a wrong turn. Logan turns around and flashes me a thankful smile before entering a door that has River's handprint on it.

As I watch as Logan puts River to bed, I can't help but wonder about the party that Logan wants me to go to.

Is there a reason behind this? Why does he really want me to go? Is he planning something? He knows Katie and I have never been on good terms. We are always at each other's throats and when we have been in fights, I always break her nose of something. If he knows all this then is he persuading me to go with him?

What are you planning, Logan?

"Goodnight, River." Logan whispers as he kisses River's forehead. As Logan turns around, I watch as River's hand moves to catch Logan's and I smile when Logan turns around to see River smiling at him.

"I love you, Logan." River whispers and the look on Logan's face made the smile on my face go wider. Logan crouches down next to the bed and pushes the hair away from River's face and smiles.

"I love you too, River." Logan whispers back and I lean against the doorframe when Logan makes his way back over to me.

He stands over me and smiles at me. "Your so cute." Logan says and my eyes go wide.

Wait, what?

"Logan-" Before I could say anything, Logan's lips connect with mine and I immediately close my eyes, enjoying the feeling of his lips on mine.

Is it bad to say that still after three years, I have been waiting for this?

Logan cups my face with his hand and I wrap my arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. Logan smiles and wraps his spare hand around my waist, pulling my body closer to his.

As we continue to kiss, I can't help but let my heart race and my legs go to jelly. After so long, he still has this effect on me and I love it.

"Logan..." I moan as he starts to place kisses on my neck. Logan's hand that was once on my cheek goes to my hip and holds it there as he nibbles on my collarbone.

"Yes, Avery?" Logan mumbles against my skin and I can't help but smile when I feel Logan's hands go to my legs, picking me up and I wrap my legs around Logan's waist. Logan starts to walk to my bedroom and as he places me on the bed, I roll over so that I am on top.

Is this what you want? Your going to make things way more complicated than it already is, my brain says and I bite my lip, looking down at Logan.

"Logan, I can't." I say, my body immediately hating my words right now but in my head, my brain acknowledges my decision. I ignore my heart which is racing fast and I get off Logan.

"I know, Avery." Logan breathes out and I sigh, sitting on my bed. Logan gets up and walks to me, grabbing the side of my face.

"I'm always here for you, Avery. Just remember that, okay?" Logan mumbles as he kisses my lips once more and I sigh again as I watch Logan walk out of my room. When I hear the front door open then close, I can't help but let out another sigh.

Is it bad to admit that I am already starting to feel things for Logan again? Ugh, what happened to hating him.

It disappeared, my brain says and I sigh, running my hands down my face.

I know.
