Chapter 5

Woooung stood in his spot, not sure how he should react. Surprised that he was invited as a parent or uncertain about going since he wasn't actually a parent. He opted to call San instead but decided he would shower first just in case San hadn't arrived home yet. He didn't want him on a call while he drove.

In the shower, Wooyoung thought about the invitation over and over. If Yongbok truly considered him as one of his parents, wouldn't that mean he wanted San and himself to be together?

"Aish, Yong will make me go crazy," Wooyoung muttered to himself, washing his hair. "If I'm considered a parent, then that means San and I would have to be married or at least date and we're neither of those."

In all honesty, the idea of dating San didn't seem too bad. Wooyoung looked past the money and saw; a gentle and caring father, a hard-working businessman, someone who cared for those around him, he enjoyed being around Wooyoung, and the best part, Wooyoung thought he looked hot as fuck when he was in a suit and even better when scolding someone since the vein on the side of his neck popped out.

It all seemed good but Wooyoung didn't feel ready to date anyone. After surviving nearly 17 years of trauma, there was no way he wanted to jump into a relationship hardly 5 years after. At that moment, it didn't seem possible but who knew what could happen later on.

Wooyoung dried off and threw on a pair of boxer briefs and a t-shirt before settling under his blanket and dialing San's number, confident he had enough credit now that he was earning a steady pay. It had barely rung three times and the older male had already answered.

"Hello? Wooyoung?"

"Ah hi San. I was just calling because of an invitation Yongbok gave me. I remembered he gave you one as well and I'm not sure how to decline the invitation without hurting Yong," Wooyoung said, his fingers mindlessly playing with a fraying seam on his blanket.

"He gave you one? Interesting. But what do you mean by decline? You can still come."

"But it says it’s for parents and I'm not a parent."

"It’s okay," San reassured. "If you really don't want to go, it’s okay but if you simply don't want to because you're not a parent, then ignore that and still tag along."

"There's another thing, we're not actually together you know. What if they make us do coupley things?"

Wooyoung was getting more and more uncertain by the minute. He really did want to go but he just wasn't an actual parent.

"I doubt it."

Wooyoung stayed quiet for a bit but sighed.

"Fine, I'll go."

San was silently cheering on his side and a large grin spread across his face.

"Alright. We can go together after work," San stated calmly.

"Okay."

The two hung up and Wooyoung sank further down into his blanket for a nice sleep.

._._.

After work the next day came way too quickly and before they knew it, San was speeding down the highway with Wooyoung in the passenger seat.

"Holy fuck you nearly crashed," Wooyoung gasped.

"I did not. If you opened your eyes more you would see that I was way off from that post."

"So what was that crunching sound?"

"Oh, that? I drove over a traffic cone."

"Hesus Christ, mother of Satan!" Wooyoung shrieked a few seconds later. "I swear you actually drove over that dog!"

San sighed in exasperation, "I did not."

It seemed as if Wooyoung got more comfortable with him within the evening they spent together and San was happy because of that. Maybe they could spend an evening together again sometime soon.

Finally, they arrived at the school in one piece and Wooyoung collapsed against San once the male got out of the vehicle. A small surge of confidence leaped out of San and he carefully wrapped an arm around the shorter male and led them inside the school. Wooyoung's head rest comfortably on San's shoulder as they walked in

"DADDY AND DADDY WOO!" Yongbok hollered, gaining attention from literally everyone.

San's arm that was placed around Wooyoung never left and with his free hand, ruffled his son’s hair. Wooyoung also ruffled the child’s hair, greeting him with a smile on his face.

San scanned the room and was met with two familiar faces, making him raise an eyebrow in surprise.

"Look, Seonghwa and Hongjoong are over there," San whispered in Wooyoung's ear, making the younger hold in a shiver.

Wooyoung knew Hongjoong but hadn’t exactly had a proper conversation with Seonghwa.

"Do you wanna say hi?" Wooyoung asked, slightly tilting his head to look at San.

"Nah, I see them every day."

The two stood in a corner with San's arm still wrapped around Wooyoung and the shorter male’s head still on his shoulder. Nothing was happening but they didn't mind. It wasn't exactly the proper setting but they were trying to get comfortable with each other considering they did, in fact, find one another attractive.

"Alright, listen up!" a male voice said, breaking San and Wooyoung out of their little bubble. "I'm assuming everyone that’s here are the parents for the children so at this moment your children will be presenting to you a song!"

A ton of five-year-olds scrambled to their positions at the front of the class so they could show their song along with the actions. It was adorable and sloppy but it was understandable.

San stood with a proud smile recording the entire event, needing to capture the moment. Several other presentations were performed by the children and then it was finished.

It wasn't time to go home yet but the children’s presentation part was finished.

"I believe the children gave you the invitations last week and if you recall, it mentioned there would be couple games," the teacher, Jongho said.

Last week? Couple games? Wooyoung looked up at San and raised a brow. They had both received an invitation the day before and nowhere on it mentioned couple games. Wooyoung had both their invitations in his suit pocket and reached in to re-read it. San leaned over to read and both of them furrowed their brows when they didn't see anything mentioning couple games.

"Lemme see that," San said, reaching out with his free hand and gently taking it from Wooyoung's grip.

He was puzzled. Did the teacher make a mistake? He brought the card close to his face and right when he was giving up, he noticed a butterfly sticker looking naturally placed on a section of the colourful card.

"God damn. Yong is smarter than you think," San whispered.

Wooyoung glanced at San in confusion.

"Why do you say that?"

"Look what he did."

Wooyoung grabbed the card noticing the sticker San tapped on and carefully peeled it off. Underneath it in red letters, five words appeared. 'Couple games will be held!!!' Did he really stick a sticker and hand the card late so that there would be less time to get out of the situation?

"Hesus Christ."

"We don't have to play you know," San reassured, moving his hand and rubbing Wooyoung's back.

"I decided to come and as long as it isn't something too dramatic, then I don't mind," Wooyoung whispered.

"Okay! The first game will begin!" Jongho announced.

They headed outside where it started off with simple tasks that involved the child such as mini relay races or guessing games. It was enjoyable and Wooyoung enjoyed himself immensely. It was the first time San saw Wooyoung so loud and happy and he wanted to absorb that moment forever.

He stood back for a while and watched as his assistant chased after his son while both of them screeched loudly in joy. Several other parents were doing the same but a variety were just sitting in a corner.

"So, Wooyoung?" someone said, their hand settling on San's shoulder.

San turned to be met with Hongjoong standing beside him and Seonghwa several feet away fixing a child's hair and shirt.

"What do you mean?" San asked.

In reality, he knew what he meant but he just wanted to be enlightened more.

"You guys gonna get married? Or just dating?"

"No and no."

Hongjoong looked at him puzzled before a soft expression settled on his face.

"It’s okay if you're dating him, you know. Don't worry about what people think as long as you're happy. You and Wooyoung look good together."

San didn’t know what to say. Hongjoong was misunderstanding him. He wasn’t scared of the homophobic people, he was simply not dating Wooyoung and that was it.

"But we're really no-"

"DADDY!" Yongbok yelled. "Daddy Woo said I could play with Binnie as long as you said yes!"

So much for trying to convince Hongjoong that they weren't dating.

"Sure. But make sure his parents aren't busy with him."

San watched as his son skipped a few feet away and raised an eyebrow in surprise when he realized that this Binnie that Yongbok always talked about was his secretary's son. How did he not know that?

He had no clue.

Wooyoung approached San slightly panting in exhaustion and let his head fall on his boss' shoulder. Hongjoong smirked at them and San rolled his eyes, ignoring his secretary and instead rubbing his assistant’s back.

"I know most of you are tired but we have one more activity left to do!" Jongho called out. "It will be for the parents only and it's the pocky game!"

Shit. Wooyoung suddenly didn't want to be there but he didn't want to look like a scaredy-cat and leave so he remained with his head on San's shoulder.

San felt how Wooyoung tensed and soothingly rubbed his shoulder. They didn't have to play and San wouldn't mind leaving early but he also wouldn't mind staying and playing the game.

"Do you want to leave?" San whispered.

"I'm fine. We can play."

"You don't have to."

Wooyoung stood straight and looked into San's eyes with a smile.

"It's okay," he whispered, grabbing San’s hand.

San felt his stomach tingle and he couldn't help but smile, revealing his dimples. How was the purple-haired human the most attractive person he had ever laid his eyes on?

A pocky stick was handed to each couple and it was being done 3 couples at a time so the others could see. Jongho rang his teacher's bell when it was time to start and San laughed at some of them. He couldn't help it, it was just hilarious.

His turn came way too soon and he felt nerves in his stomach from excitement. Wooyoung, on the other hand, was trying to calm down from the bad kind of butterflies in his stomach.

San placed the pocky stick in his mouth before winking at Wooyoung who giggled and red spread across his cheeks in heat.

Damn did San look hot biting the pocky and winking. Wooyoung would fan his face but he felt that was too dramatic so he didn't and instead gently smacked San on his arm.

"Don't do that," Wooyoung whispered, looking everywhere but San.

"Why not? Are you flustered?"

"Of course not. We're in public, that's all."

San rolled his eyes at the excuse. That wasn't even a valid excuse.

"OKAY!"

A ding went off and Woooyoung slowly took the other end of the pocky stick in his mouth, keeping eye contact with his boss the entire time and carefully biting closer and closer to the taller. San couldn't lie, that was the sexiest thing he had ever seen and he held himself from just breaking the pocky and slamming his lips against the youngers ones.

Wooyoung inched closer and closer and he could see Seonghwa in his peripheral side anxiously biting his finger in hopes they wouldn't end up kissing. He was nearly at Sans lips and if he could make it just a little more, they could probably win. Unfortunately, a child, none other than Yongbok and his best friend Binnie, crashed into San's legs from the back causing their mouths to land on each other.

Wooyoung and San stood frozen, unmoving. Wooyoung's eyes widened in shock and San couldn't move even if he wanted to. Yongbok was still collapsed against his legs but now sitting on the floor.

Slowly, without panicking, Wooyoung carefully moved his lips and looked away with heat across his face. He didn't look at San and just watched as Hongjoong quietly scolded his son while Seonghwa helped Yongbok stand up.

Wooyoung touched his lips and memories he never wanted to return surfaced up. He tried pushing them away and calmly breathed but he couldn't help it. Memories he thought he had locked away to be forgotten consumed him and before he knew it, he was shaking.

His breaths came out heavy and his eyes got cloudy in tears. San had no clue what was happening but immediately pulled Wooyoung's head into his chest so no one would see him. Unfortunately, several people saw it and watched in confusion and pity but San turned them to face the wall so that no one else could judge.

"Can we go home?" Wooyoung asked, keeping his head on San's chest.

"Of course. Let me just get Yongbok."

Fortunately, Yongbok stood close by so San just grabbed his arm and quietly made it out of the school. Hongjoong and Seonghwa quietly watched and sent kind smiles their way before Seonghwa wrapped an arm around Hongjoong's waist and pulled him close.

"I hope they'll be okay," Hongjoong whispered.

Seonghwa simply hummed in agreement.
