The Night Shift is The Fun Shift

Apparently I have to go with Vincent to work again since I wasn't allowed home by myself yet. I was told to bring a blanket and a pillow, so I could at least get some sleep. I guess it's nice that he's doing this, it's the kindest thing anyone has done for me in some time. "Come on let's go." He walks in and grabs the blanket and pillow from my bed. We go to the car, and when he finally unlocks it I get in. Buckling myself up, I look outside.

I barely notice anything except for the wondering city lights, and maybe the background music in the car every now and then. Although I did notice when the car came to a stop outside of the pizza place. I think it says pizza but I don't really know how to read, the pizza picture thing does help though. He grabs the blanket and pillow and waits for me to get out of the car. I unbuckle quickly and stand off to the side as he shuts the door.

We go inside the pizza place, him holding the door open for me. It still felt spooky and strange here. I didn't really notice it before since I was still frightened by my purple dad. We head to the office, seeing the same guys from the night before. "Holy shit the kids alive." The greyish guy says. Dad puts the blankets and pillow on the one rolly chairs. 'It's probably his chair.' I think to myself.

The phone head guy comes over and picks me up. "They seem to be fine, no new bruises or anything." He says while he checks for injuries. I guess they seem weary after all, my dad doesn't really seem like the dad type. "Put my kid down, you freaks are scaring them," Dad growls out, causing the phone guy to put me down gently. "Who are you calling freaks, Grape?" The gray one snaps back while glaring. The two are almost growling at each other, causing me to move off to the side.

I stand in the edge of the room, next to the guy with the question mark on his face. "Who are you guys?" I ask quietly because he seemed shy as well. Usually, the shy ones were nice and easily understandable. "Oh, I'm Jeremy." He points to himself while smiling softly. "The grey one is Mike, the guy with the phone head is Phone guy." He points to each one, trying to make it easy for me to learn their names. "I'm (Y/n)." I introduce myself shyly, trying to be polite. "Well, it's nice to meet you, (Y/n)." He says happily, I think we'll get along just fine.

We turn our attention to Phone guy trying to break up Mike and my dad. "Stop, there's a child in the room. Your child in fact." He turns his attention to mostly my dad. The pair step away while grumbling. "Listen, the kid can take it." My dad shoots back, nonchalantly, walking away from the two. "They obviously have anxiety!" Phone guy's comment made my dad chuckle a bit. "They'll get over it, they are my kid after all." He shoots back, coming over to me.

He picks me up and plops me down in the rolly chair. "Stay there, and try to go to sleep." He says, right before walking out of the room. Probably to go get another chair. The guy named Mike comes over and squats down to be eye level with me. "Listen, is everything okay? Are you being held against your will or hurt?" He questions, being strictly serious with his question. "No, he's actually really lenient compared to mom," I state quietly, not sure how to respond. "How old are you?" Jeremy questions softly from across the small office. "I'm five... I think." I shrug lightly, not really trying to give away answers.

"You think? How can you not know your birthday?" Jeremy asks in shock, worry going over his face. "Shouldn't you be in school or something?" Phone guy asks, now it feels like I'm too crowded. "I-I never went..." I reply shakenly. I've always hated crowds or being asked so many questions. Even if I'm young I know that I have bad people skills.

"Back off, you guys are the ones freaking them out." My dad practically growls out while dragging a new chair in. The others move back to their seats as my dad puts his chair next to mine. He sits down and looks towards me. "Don't worry about them, they won't hurt yea or anything. " He says, trying to at least offer me some kind of comfort.  "T-thank you," I whisper out, smiling a bit.

They soon start working, and I slowly start to fall asleep. Soon I'm knocked out on the chair, the covers pulled up to my nose. Unaware of the conversations being held in the small office about my kind of family. Along with not noticing or being affected by their jobs, unaware of the danger in the building.

When I wake up I notice that I'm at the house, in my bed. I get up and walk through the house, seeing him passed out on the couch. Snoring away without a care, still in his work clothes. I guess this will be interesting to try to get used to all of this and my new friends or are they family. Mike, Jeremy, and Phone Guy seem close to my dad, I guess I'll just have to piece things together.
