Suzume Kikuchi (雀 菊地 Kikuchi Suzume) is the tritagonist of the Jujutsu Kaisen: Purgatory series.

She is a special grade jujutsu sorcerer who works independently and the infamous assassin known as the Pearl Siren, taking independent jobs and missions. She is also the adopted older daughter of Akio and Ogata Kikuchi, the older sister of Chiyoko Hayash, and a direct descendant of positive sirens, good cursed spirits that normally affect humans beneficially.

While she doesn't officially work at Tokyo Jujutsu High, she does help around with the students when it comes to training and missions when the staff are unable to.

Suzume has an overall stoic demeanor and is reserved most of the time. She isn't one who likes to talk very often and is very quiet. While she isn't one to socialize with others, she is still kind to those who are kind to her in return. Suzume will treat them with the respect that she thinks they deserve.

She isn't afraid to try and pick fights with people who she believes are a nuisance and bother her to no end. She does have a soft spot for children and a handful of the jujutsu sorcerers. Suzume can be very protective of children and of those she cares for and respects.

She may not show it, but she blames herself for the mass murder of the Hayashi clan. Suzume saw Chiyoko as a second chance to redeem herself in her failure in protecting them. This is shown as Suzume tends to be overprotective when it comes to Chiyoko and often worries whenever they go on assignments and when they enrolled at Tokyo Jujutsu High.

꒰🐚꒱ SYNPOSIS ♡꙼̈ ࿐ ࿔

Suzume was born into the Hando family, a non-sorcerer family who lived in a town near the sea. Her step-mother Ran was unemployed and a horrible drunk even before Suzume was born. Ran would more than often abuse her husband Yasuo and stepdaughter while drunk, leaving Yasuo to take care of Suzume growing up.

When she was eight, Suzume was playing games with some of the neighborhood kids until some of the older kids began to bully them. She tried to stand up to them only to run away from them. Eventually, she was chased towards a cliff and fell after tripping. She didn't know how to swim and supposedly died from drowning. The bullies quickly left and told everyone half of the story that Suzume was trying to swim and drowned after getting caught by some seaweed.

The villagers decided to hold a small funeral for her which everyone but her stepmother (who was blackout drunk) attended.

In reality, Suzume was saved by both her bio mother, who unlocked her siren abilities & Ogata Kikuchi, who was part of a jujutsu sorcerer family clan was she was still near the beach. With her parents and everyone in the town thinking that she was dead, she decided to go with Ogata and was formally adopted by him and his wife Akio. It was then that Suzume learned a bit more about her family, that her father fell in love with a positive siren and got her pregnant before meeting her step-mom.

When she turned 16, she officially became a jujutsu sorcerer, working alongside Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto as they all were in the same year together.

She was visiting the Hayashi clan around the time Chiyoko was born and Suzume came back after the mass murder of the Hayashis. Looking around for any survivors, she found a baby Chiyoko hidden away and took her to the Kikuchi along with her. Her parents adopted her, with the two of them becoming sisters.

♡ OVERVIEW ♡

OVERALL SKILL LEVEL: Suzume is among one of the stronger special-grade sorcerers in her generation. She was nowhere near as strong as either Satoru or Suguru, but she is still indeed powerful in her own right. After being trained by the Kikuchi family, she mastered her more basic abilities when she was still a student.

MASTER HAND-TO-HAND COMBATANT: Kikuchi is an incredibly formidable martial artist when it comes to close combat battles and training. She's able to go against multiple curse users, sprits, and non-curse users during her assignments and missions, and could casually fight off several people at once without breaking a sweat.

WEAPON MASTERY: Suzume can master multiple weapons, both cursed and regular, only after a couple of uses. She was often trained by arming herself with a variety of different cursed weapons mostly.

POISON RESISTANCE: Since Suzume is an assassin, she is immune to all kinds of poison. It started when she was younger, drinking small doses daily mixed in with her food and drinks.

MUSICAL TALENT: Suzume, being part siren, has a natural amazing singing voice.

CURSED SIREN: Her technique is a combination of a siren and a mermaid. Suzume can attract her opponent with her voice and looks. She can manipulate the minds of their targets depending on their mental level. Her high pitch screams are loud enough to destroy a building or make a huge dent in the ground as well as burst someone's eardrum.

DEEP BLUE ABYSS: Suzume traps their target in a area that appears to be the dark ocean drowning them to death.

Suzume uses a wooden polearm to practice with Chiyoko for training purposes in order to improve her skills for close-ranged fighting with weapons.

Suzume also uses a pair of tanegashima with bullets that are infused with cursed energy. She tends to use the shotgun for close-ranged fighting as well.

Suzume primarily goes into battle with a kyoketsu-shoge that can extend when needed. She uses her kyoketsu-shoge during long-distance fights and for traveling.

For battles, Suzume also carries a stash of curse-infused kunai. She uses her kunai to entrap opponents and destroy/stick to high places (buildings, mountains, etc.) so that Suzume can travel with ease.
