Scott's P.O.V

Everyone looked at me in shock. "What do you mean they're gone?!" Lauren exclaimed.

"I woke up in the tent alone! I waited for a while and they didn't return!" I panicked. "Oh God, what do we do?!"

Meghan held a weeping Em close, and she was tearing up herself. "We have to look for them," Meghan whimpered. "We have to."

Shelby glanced into the forest. Her eyes widened, and she ran off into the forest. At first no-one moved, but then Elise dragged Mika in the same direction, and soon the whole group was running.

We stopped at a ravine. Shelby stared down it. "I think I know where they are."

Mika got down on her stomach and looked down while Elise held her ankles down. Mika squinted. "I see something down there."

Em said nothing, she ran to the ravine and jumped down.

Mika managed to grab her foot, however. "Can I have some help?" she asked.

Lauren got down and reached for Em. However, she lost her balance. Her body tumbled down, and she screamed the whole way down.

I quickly reached down to grab Em's hand and we pulled her up. She was safe.

Everyone was silent. "They're dead..." Yammy whispered. "No! They're... they're dead!"

"Well now what?!" Cory hissed, his shock turning to anger. "These stupid voices have killed five of our friends!"

Shelby sighed. "And the voice won't stop until we do something about it... come on, we have to go."

"And just leave them there dead?!" Em cried.

"We can't do anything about it, I'm sorry."

"You don't even sound sad!"

"I am sad! I just don't show it the way you do. Now come. On. We've gotta get to the EAPE."

Em refused. Instead, she again through herself off the ravine's edge. She smiled sadly as she fell. "NOW IT'S KILLED SIX!!" Cory shouted. "For God's sake!"

Mika looked around at the various forest flowers. She went around, picking out the prettiest ones. I joined her. Together, we dropped the flowers we'd gathered down the ravine. I stepped back and collapsed onto my knees. Six friends... gone. Even after all these years, death hit hard. I didn't bother listening to what the others were doing. I just... had to let my feelings out.

I felt someone pull me close. I looked up to see Shelby, tears in her eyes, like everyone else. "I wish I felt more sorrow..." she whispered, squeezing her eyes shut and letting her head fall. "I wish we didn't have to deal with any of this."
